Opera Desktop Team

Second build of the week

We decided to release another build this week to let you have something to play with over the weekend. Since the previous build, there has been a bit of UI work going on, and some fixes to UPnP (Opera Unite).

We have also enabled some experimental UPnP code, so please report any unexpected network related issues that you come across. There may be more crashes than usual when using Unite with UPnP enabled, but any crashes can simply be reported through the new crash dialog.

In addition to that, we have the first 64-bit Qt4 builds for Linux.

As a final note, the native skin is still not finished, so there is no reason to comment on it yet. (Let's see how many of you actually read this wink)

No automatic updates this time around.

qt4 64bit Linux builds FINALLY!!! YES!!!!

Andrew NguyenSouthernCross Friday, June 26, 2009 3:48:18 PM

Are the download servers OK? I'm getting half the usual speeds.

FavDjiXas Friday, June 26, 2009 3:48:30 PM

Bug: when I hide menu and remove menu icon, it reappears after clicking "OK" to confirm customization settings.

"Bug": http://i43.tinypic.com/2n0rjbq.jpg
in newer versions (top), arrow looks really ugly, I assume it's due to background which is matched for status bar placement only?

Rafał MiłeckiZajec Friday, June 26, 2009 3:51:02 PM

Thanks for Qt4 x86_64 build smile

CaseCase1 Friday, June 26, 2009 3:51:23 PM

Does anyone else see the "first 64-bit Qt4 builds" bit or is it just me? wink

Wow! I'm a little inclined to say "about time", but I'll just rather say "thanks a lot!" wink

ColKilkenny Friday, June 26, 2009 3:53:00 PM

Thanks for 64bit Qt4 builds!
- The tray icon seems to be having grey background with this build.
- I'm not sure if it's Qt4 but the new "Menu" button isn't not opening every time I click it. (Click it three times and it will probably open once and close once)
- Qt4 performance in general is a bit sluggish (already talked about this with Toman in irc)

hurug Friday, June 26, 2009 3:57:07 PM

Two shots, woaw... Txs, devs.

Bill PBill_P Friday, June 26, 2009 3:59:00 PM

qt4 x64 build colors are wrong - when "none" is selected the browser is blueish and when "system color scheme" selected the browser is brownish. "QT native" seems to get the colors better.

hopefully this comment does not violate the "the native skin is still not finished, so there is no reason to comment on it yet. (Let's see how many of you actually read this" from Havaard

Changed name of "Transfers" to "Downloads"

Isn't it the same window where UPLOADS also happen?

AgentCROCODILE Friday, June 26, 2009 4:03:19 PM

You bunch of Russian guys TOTALLY ROCK!

Although I don't notice too many tweaks to the Windows Native skin.

Øzikzakatak Friday, June 26, 2009 4:04:20 PM

what!!!! downloading...

Christian HuffPedric Friday, June 26, 2009 4:04:44 PM

Fixed Bug DSK-240834 (Qt4-shared build uses Qt3 settings)

I don't think so. The startup script still reads ~/.qt/qtrc instead of ~/.config/Trolltech.conf....

Soleen Friday, June 26, 2009 4:07:16 PM

Opera Team, thank you for great work.

Will we have Solaris build this time? There were several solaris
specific fixes in these two builds, but no Solaris build available. Please add it.

DonutMan Friday, June 26, 2009 4:10:40 PM

This is NOT a comment about the skin. smile

Ferrisferrisnox Friday, June 26, 2009 4:11:29 PM

Thanks for the new build. I have noticed the wand does not work on http://digg.com a popular website.

Thanks

Wade Friday, June 26, 2009 4:12:52 PM

digg.com still not working correctly in opera: "Show 51 - 100 of 142 discussions" link is not working when trying to read comments

Bill PBill_P Friday, June 26, 2009 4:13:53 PM

is Opera Turbo "currently not available" or is there an issue with this build?

Darko Pantićpdarko Friday, June 26, 2009 4:14:27 PM

yes

This was actually changed in previous build and i don't like it. Transfers make more sense because of BitTorrent feature (where you also have upload at the same time).

Thanks.

Yes I agree with that. I got a little confused by that too.

I guess it's the question of choice. Sure, "Transfers" is more logical strictly said, but I remember "Transfers" was confusing for me when I started using Opera, as usually you DOWNLOAD stuff from internet. Only few people upload stuff via the manager and also few people mind that there is also upload going on when torrent is dealed with.
1+ for this decition IMO

Barraco Mármol Jerónimojerobarraco Friday, June 26, 2009 4:30:02 PM

awesome, you guys work really hard, a lot of changes!!!
and a qt4@64b for linux, that's great!

Opera needs a button to turn-off Unite easier.

No, I think it is nice.

Daniel HendrycksDanielHendrycks Friday, June 26, 2009 4:36:46 PM

In the turbo details dialog it should say the side effect of turbo, then people will know what is making images not be in full quality. Some people do not know what compression does.
Do this to eliminate confusion.

Arsenytarc Friday, June 26, 2009 4:43:49 PM

Good job! I like Opera smile

Why not FreeBSD QT4 shared?

MT-Wizard Friday, June 26, 2009 4:50:28 PM

This build crashes constantly. I've sent 4 or 5 crash reports and installed previous build sad

ruaman Friday, June 26, 2009 4:50:28 PM

It is the most unstable version for me in Vista Home Premium 32. It crashed five times in last 14 minutes.

MaximSailorMax Friday, June 26, 2009 4:51:04 PM

Looks like someone forgot colorize Tools-menu wink

Marcinmancin Friday, June 26, 2009 4:53:35 PM

sad

tatsuno Friday, June 26, 2009 4:54:09 PM

Thank you for the qt4 amd64 build!!

Bug DSK-256927 is not fixed...

tomassplatch Friday, June 26, 2009 4:57:05 PM

Unite still not working in Qt4 32bit builds... Windows working fine. Maybe should be added to known issues, if someone else confirms?
