Opera Desktop Team

Second build of the week

We decided to release another build this week to let you have something to play with over the weekend. Since the previous build, there has been a bit of UI work going on, and some fixes to UPnP (Opera Unite).

We have also enabled some experimental UPnP code, so please report any unexpected network related issues that you come across. There may be more crashes than usual when using Unite with UPnP enabled, but any crashes can simply be reported through the new crash dialog.

In addition to that, we have the first 64-bit Qt4 builds for Linux.

As a final note, the native skin is still not finished, so there is no reason to comment on it yet. (Let's see how many of you actually read this )

No automatic updates this time around.

Hello,
How can my Ubuntu computer automatically update the version of Opera that I have to the latest build? I wish I didn't have to manually download and install.

With Chrome/Chromium on Linux, I don't have to do anything for Chrome and Chromium to be updated, even though they are also just builds.

Thank you.

IIRC, Qt doesn't support that. So there won't be double-column menu in linux.

SerGap 26. June 2009, 17:10

Two crashes for 30 minutes (Windows 7 build 7260, x86). Reports are sent.
Thanks anyway.

P.S. Crashes every 10 min. Unusable for me.

arghwashier 26. June 2009, 17:10

Yippeee 64 bit qt4...finally thank you thank you thank you

Gyrobo 26. June 2009, 17:12

The "Fit to Width" button gets bigger when activated, on Ubuntu at least.

Nico 26. June 2009, 17:17

I didn't see this one coming .

Thank you for the new Build, I'm testing it right now.

Looking forward to the fix for re-opening Tabs(DSK-257244)
and of course the new Opera icon

MagicM 26. June 2009, 17:22

El fantasma de Opera 26. June 2009, 17:32

Change the color of the bookmarks icons for Opera beta 10.00 (1606) (red and white :yuck:).
Looks very bad and doesn't distinguish the other icons.

See you

Kevin 26. June 2009, 17:35

The tabs are still not native :frown:

While you are at it, here are a few more capitilization inconsistencies to fix:

Edit > Check spelling

Mail > Low-bandwidth mode

Tools > Quick Preferences > Open Pop-ups in Background

Tooltip: New tab (Ctrl+T)

Woohoo :yikes: . QT4 Builds for x64. Now i can remove qt3 from my system.

Fantastic

Douglas Silva 26. June 2009, 17:49

It could have more options to personalize the search engines, like moving one up or down. Every time that I want to change the position of a search engine, I need to edit the search.ini file.

For example: http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3162/examplenat.jpg

Also, thanks for the new version!

hmm.... I never had any problems with Unite & qt4.32bit.
This build - like the others - works without problems...

kurosen 26. June 2009, 17:53

Two things.

1. Shift + I no longer works as a show/hide image shortcut.

2. engadget.com (the only example I've found) doesn't always display up to date pages, even when pressing refresh.

oceanic 26. June 2009, 17:54

thank you

Bill P 26. June 2009, 17:55

@kurosen for me shift+i does work and I'm on 64bit qt4

Rodrigo 26. June 2009, 17:56

Hm... there is something I'd like to ask by a long time to Opera Devs:

Why the Alt+F11 shortcut to hide/unhide the menu bar is exclusive to Unix (by default)?
Why the Close All Pages But Active, Close all pages and Reload All shortcuts does not exist in the Opera Standard shortcuts (only in the 9.2x)?

Wladimir 26. June 2009, 17:56

is it possible??! qt4 for 64bit! unbelievable! thank you!

sudo dpkg -i op.... :smile:penguin

EDIT: installed

Bugfixer 26. June 2009, 18:00

Still the same bug on www.rtl.de. The page reloads when i scroll down. There is no thumb image on the tab bar (not every time). For example:

http://www.rtl.de/rtlaktuell/rtl_aktuell.php

Also the video player on the right side (under "video-news") is not visible.

I hope it will be fixed with the next build. THX

Gousti Fruit 26. June 2009, 18:03

We need bi-weekly updates now ! :-D

cousin333 26. June 2009, 18:05

The linking arrows on opera:config page still don't (always) create a link in URL bar.

I already had a crash (in 5 minutes). Vista x64 Home Premium. Report sent, hope that this was the last one...

How should they get that fixed in such a short time? Is this bug even reported?
By the way i noticed a different problem with that site. Here is the thread about it:

Irontiger 26. June 2009, 18:11

Wow guys, that's great! Thanks and have a nice weekend.

StanislawkoviC 26. June 2009, 18:12

Add user-defined option to speed-dial settings. Not only pre-defined settings.
BTW This build is good (for now)

Don Jackson 26. June 2009, 18:17

(I seldom use the Search panel…) Is this behavior new?

This build is definite progress. But I fear I'll never get good at Start bar Tetris…

Thanks for that information. i will observe the development and i hope that problem will be fixed soon.

The Opera team does a great job. So much snapshots. I love it.

Thank you Opera (german: Danke Opera  )

:D

thePeteJ 26. June 2009, 18:26

Any chance that bug DSK-254011, the "/Settings" bug will get fixed soon? That's the only thing that stops me from upgrading.

Rafał 26. June 2009, 18:35

Still I can't try Opera Unite, because my nick has a "^" special character. When I try change name on the site( http://my.opera.com/community/rename-user/?service=OperaUnite&username=Rafa%B3^ ), after click "Zapisz" / "Save", appears info: "The page you are looking for could not be found. It may be temporarily or permanently unavailable, or you may have misspelled the address (URL)." - http://my.opera.com/Rafał^/services?error=nametaken

GaaraZanta 26. June 2009, 18:39

Anyone know if the one click to bookmark star will make a return? It is very useful to know if you already have a page bookmarked (especially if you have insane amounts of bookmarks) and saves several clicks and mouse movements.

Daniel 26. June 2009, 18:39

Help -> About, should, in my opinion, open in a new tab. Filed bug report. DSK-257396

I see, people got this build working with qt4/amd64. I get
/opt/opera/lib/opera/10.00/opera: error while loading shared libraries: libQtGui.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Buggy ebuild, I'm afraid. Good it works for others!

FataL 26. June 2009, 19:07

Try to select (highlight) some text on the following page:
http://www.satzansatz.de/cssd/acidicfloat.html
Selection will become invisible.
Regression since version 9.5

What appears to me is that Opera 10 still contains most version 9.5 regressions, despite significant version number change:
Opera 9 - Presto 2.0
Opera 9.5 - Presto 2.1
Opera 9.6 - Presto 2.1.1
Opera 10 - Presto 2.2.15

Andres 26. June 2009, 19:09

Thanks for the new build, the following issue:
Again, on the downloaded Debug Menu, testing a local site, I can disable images, but it's impossible to enable images again, even if you reload the page, images keep disabled. You have to close the tab and open the document again.
I love the new menu and it's great that you changed the "transfers" for "Downloads"
Please don't forget bug DSK-257115

Cosma Sebastian Adrian 26. June 2009, 19:10

Thanks again for new build.

IRC transfers are working now... :D
Please change the opera icon.......... please

When i create a new mail/chat account, after the chat menu appears in the panels also the icon for the "show menu bar" appears in the lower left corner near Panels icon. The menu bar is activated anyway. It disappears again if i toggle it.

Also i can transfer only 3 files trough IRC after that i have to restart opera to download again. I get the message that x is sending me x file and then it just hangs, no next line with link to download.

GrantTLC 26. June 2009, 19:14

"Let's see how many of you actually read this"

Careful now, that's coming dangerously close to the weary cynicism we all get from dealing with the public for extended periods!

If it helps, I always read everything you write for these snapshots, carefully.

Remy 26. June 2009, 19:17

Highly unstable. Already 3 crashes in 10 minutes. Fortunately I was able to submit an automatic bug report, because usually it takes an hour for it to go through.

Edit: it seems that disabling the Unite server did the trick.

Horizontal scroll is not working (scrolls vertically instead) on gcc4-qt4.x86_64
It worked on opera-10.00-4440.gcc4-shared-qt3.x86_64 (didn't check on build 4449)

Really BIG memory leak in this page:

http://www.antronio.com/comunidad/f19/pregunta-que-ninguna-religion-contestar-251125/index32.html

300+MB and 500MB virtual memory!
Not happen all the time but happen very frequent.

tomassplatch 26. June 2009, 19:34

Menus on youtube (sort by...) working again!

However menus in wolfram/alpha search engine still not working (when there is a "More" option available, like for example for this search:
http://www09.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2+potatos

Menu shows only partially. Reported as site problem, 'cause I don't know if the wrong coding is on Opera's or site's side.

Could be considered as showstopper. Reported

NeOn1225 26. June 2009, 19:39

In the speed dial, that to change it completely, for example it allowing to put the scoreboards in any zone of the screen.

Regards for opera fan
