Much work and lots of play makes Unite a shiny feature
By Manuela Huttermanooh. Friday, August 14, 2009 1:50:00 PM
We've been working hard this week to polish Opera Unite. There were improvements on the infrastructure and Opera's stability, as well as many other improvements, for example:
- The discovery of other Opera Unite instances on your local network should behave now (and be quiet if it's asked to)
- Opera's reconnection strategy in case of connection problems is now more flexible
- The services look even shinier - with an extra touch of Opera styling
Again, please do check out Opera Unite and play around with it!
Watch out for connection issues (only with the most recent builds, of course), behavior on your local network, confusing workflow or settings, or anything else you don't feel happy with. The more detailed issues are reported, the easier it is for us to follow up.
Highlights
- Stability work: Several common crashes fixed
- Many Qt4 stability fixes
- More Unite polishing
- Skin improvements, including fixing the new tab button for visual tabs
- Print selection should now be fixed
- Alt+Shift to switch languages should be working
Known Issues
- No autoupdate this time around since it's Friday
- Some Unix builds may be missing, but most of them will be continuously uploaded
WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

skin "bugs":
- When tab-thumbs are on the side, the new tab button does overlay the last tab if this is inactive. Additionally the very first tab overlays with buttons in tabbar tail.
- The space between buttons in pagebar tail is too big; when all buttons are taken out of tabbar tail, it disappears and cannot be "refilled"
- When another button is put in pagebar head to the menu button, the menu button becomes bigger
Pages in thumbnail previews aren't centered very well, this was better in the last builds.

Fixed
Still not fixed
Edit:
The sys tray icon is also still not transparent of me
Edit2:
After I deleted and reinstalled Opera the sys tray icon behaved somewhat better, if I killed plasma, the sys tray icon appeared as small icon in the upper left corner, but when I started plasma again, before the sys tray icon found it's way to the sys tray, it was for a sec. a large black box again.

Edit: Just Upgraded, (still gone) but a request with the installer, considering the default is "Upgrade" (presumably if Opera is detected as installed) the "Set as default browser" checkbox should be checked (if the previous Opera is Default)
Also, instead of the buttons doing this: (and changing back to "normal" after resizing the bar)
They stay with large spacing *always* now (B1708)
Also... Problem with "Windows Native" seemingly related to it:
The Blur
It's using the "Opera Standard" buttons (which have their own problems, that weird blur) when in "Windows Native" skin.
Also, the (Main) Menu Button is transparent, which is kinda cool, but would be nice if it was in "Opera Standard" too.

Also, if the last tab is inactive, new tab button overlaps it.

After the first login the page looks like that:
And there is also a problem with the table used to enter your password. It is impossible to move it when it is easily moved in other browsers:

This bug has been around for too long
opening pdf files in its own tab
The only way I could get around this is to open the program by application, but not plugin

remove the "open service" and "start service" option when you right click file sharing, fridge etc. It was confusing at first, because this option appears at the top as well. Its like two buttons on the same page that does exactly the same thing. Redundant

lol, seriously though, a lot of people like to customize their interface, which may mean removing the top button from its bar.
Plus "Power Users" or "Advanced" or whatever, will use the context menu because it's quicker, both with the mouse, and using Tab + Menu Key (between Win and Ctrl)

Hmm, found a problem here (did it just for the hell of it, not because I wanted to) and it also reset my Panel buttons to default.
Don't use the Personal Bar, but...
It should either show all the Keys (img, gv, def, etc) or none of them instead of ignoring all the ones with a single Char as the Key.
