Opera 10.0 Release Candidate 2
By Haavardhaavard. Friday, August 28, 2009 12:03:56 PM
We are still on track for a release on Tuesday, but we have managed to fix a few important crash bugs, and also have a couple of fixes for pages that never stop loading ("NSL"). Please let us know if the "NSL problem" has improved or not!
Apart from that, we have fixed some icon issues on Windows and Unix, and widgets should be working again after upgrading from Opera 9. There are also a few other fixes, so take a look at the changelog for more details.
We do not have an updated Unite build this time around since we are focusing on getting Opera 10.0 out the door. The build will not be available as an automatic update either, since it's Friday.
Note: Some Unix builds may be missing, but they may be uploaded later
Highlights
- A couple of possible fixes for pages that never stop loading (NSL)
- Stability fixes
- Native skin fixes

The compressed icon doesn't look that good on Windows. It's too pixelated on the edges. Please change it again.

1. open http://www.mymovies.it/cinema/milano/ and wait it is completely loaded
2. press the END key (moves to the bottom of the page)
3. SPATIAL NAVIGATE downwards (that is, press SHIFT+DOWN ARROW - needs opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableExtendedKeyboardShortcuts turned ON) to crash opera

It is about the Mac Skin :
and on the website http://www.lefil.com I can't connect whereas on the Opera snapshots which are not RC I can connect.

This is on Linux, Ubuntu 9.04 Qt4.

What does "not gray"/"not blue" mean in the screenshot?
What do you mean by "can't connect"? Do you get any error messages?
Again, please try to explain problems in sufficient detail, so that it is possible for others to understand what you are trying to say.

cuz, it is really annoying, since i get kicked off for 30 minutes after redirection. They are using blue3 for login purposes.
I have to start internet explorer and have to login through it on first startup, and then i can use opera without hiccups...IT's just that the Initial login can not be done through Opera or else i get redirected for having P2p (i don have any torrent running or downloads resuming whatsoever). I didn't had this problem with 9.64. PLZ HELP!

Please excuse me. Here are some screenshots:
- From opera:config:

- Dialog when deleting Opera shortcut from Desktop (representative):

I hope it's clear on the screenshots. Sorry again for my first (and too short) entry.

1) Install widget http://widgets.opera.com/widget/10111/
2) add content block rule *deezer.com/*
3) make site preference for localhost and uncheck enable content blocking on content tab.
4) open widget and no player will be loaded thus no working widget despite localhost site preferences

For my screenshot : In fact the Mac Skin looks not finished because the pannel is not gray like the other parts of the Mac Skin and the yellow icon should be blue like the folders.
For the website : I can't connect me to my account because the website says that the access is denied but if I use snapshots which are not RC I can connect and the access is not denied.
Sorry for my English, I'm French

Noticed that in Opera Standard skin there is a gap between the open/close panel button and the first tab
With Native skin there is an overlap of the first tab over the open/close panel button

This would seriously go far ... light years

RC2 seems to be really rock-solid so far, great job!

Heavy flickering of some page elements
box.net - uploading not working
Logitech Forums editor incompatibility

@haavard: It worked all the way upto beta 3, i think and it stopped working on RC.
Basically, you go facebook and look @ a photo album click on the photo and after that you can jus use the arrow keys to go to previous or next photo in that album.
It works fine in safari, firefox, IE, chrome etc...
Also the x.facebook.com posting on wall or composing message problem is still not fixed.
Grasli # Friday, August 28, 2009 3:57:52 PM
Other things:
- The "Closed Tabs"-button is still uncentered (off-center).
- The status-bar should be 1 pixel higher or something. Look at the top of the "size-box" (100%). Its connected with the top-line of the status-bar..
Anyway, thank you for the hard work Opera Team. Opera 10 will be great!

Yet, still in this last 10.0 RC2, it doesn't link to anything, instead of to the requested page of "wunderground.com" site, as it did correctly till 9.64 release.
I don't know whether it is a problem due to the widget or to the browser, but it happens, for me at least.
Can some other Opera user confirm this problem, or it's only my fault?
Anyway, thank you for the new release.

Thanks for the NSL fixes!
Thanks for fixing the white line!
Thanks for being so great!

It's a way more annoying if you have it as one of speed-dial shortcuts.
I can confirm this problem
And about the CTRL-TAB (tab switch) window, I think it should have more suitable design for this new skin, for me it looks very obsolete.
Thank you for another nice release! Keep up the good work!

// EDIT
Hey, wheres Sync Icon gone?
Karolhexplor # Friday, August 28, 2009 4:18:24 PM
Closed tabs button is always overlapping on my install, new tab button overlaps only when closest tab is selected.

It used to work in Opera until the RC or Beta 3 I believe, and it works in all other browsers.

I now fully switched to Opera 10 from 9.6.
Bugs I noticed:
1. Menu Button disappearing.
-click on File, Show Menu Bar (the Menu Bar correctly disappears and the Menu Button correctly appears)
-click on the Menu Button, and then go to Preferences...
-change the preferred language
-click OK
The Menu Button disappears.
To make it appear again I have to press Alt, then click Show Menu Bar, the Menu Bar appears, then click on File, Show Menu Bar.
2. Small design bug present both on the Native and Standard skin on Vista. The Info Panel has a border which surrounds the area where the Info about the page is displayed, while none of the other Panels have a this kind of border surrounding the area where the Links are displayed, the History, the Windows, Downloads and so on are displayed.
3. Nothing is displayed in the Thumbnail (regarding the Tab bar with Thumbnails enabled) until the page is completely loaded; for instance, I have 5-6 tabs opened with videos from different tubes and all are "blank" because none of the videos has fully loaded, and usually it takes up to 5-6 minutes to get rid of the first "blank".
I think that the Thumbnail should be "refreshed" ONCE after about 10-20 seconds from the moment the page starts to load, and ONCE when it finishes to fully load.
4.

Thanks for this RC !
But two bugs I reported are still present :
- DSK-258473 : Opera crashes (on Windows) when URL is incorrect. For example, create a HTML file, and create a HTML link in this file with this URL : //google.com/search. Open this HTML file, click on the link. Oups. Bye bye Opera.
- DSK-262330 : too long to explain everything. For example, you've never set in Speed Dial higher than 4x3. Try 5x5, set slot 25. Type "25" in address bar, you'll be redirected to http://0.0.0.25. See bug report for more details
