10.10 with Unite

, , ,

As promised, we would release 10.10 builds with Unite enabled. These builds are simply a continuation of 10.0, with more bug fixes, plus Unite. Focus is still stability and minor improvements.

The bundled Unite services are currently undergoing some design improvements, but this hasn't made it into todays builds. This build does however have many fixes to the Unite webserver, which will improve connectivity for many. Stay tuned for more... :-)

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

I'm confused. Is this release Opera 10 Stable with Unite Beta or Opera 10 previous Beta with Unite Beta, or Opera 10 Stable with Unite Stable?

poorrichard01: This is an Opera 10.10 snapshot with Unite.

Ferris 4. September 2009, 14:08

The energizer bunny of Development teams. So will these builds install into a /beta/ directory... not over regular 10?

olli 4. September 2009, 14:08

To be more clear this is Opera 10.10 and Opera 10.10 will include Unite

Thank you very much for this snapshot
No problem on this build (because I started a new "profile", so perhaps new files), so sorry because I said you that I couldn't connect on my account on a website (http://www.lefil.com) : I can now with this new "profile"

"Fixed Bug DSK-262820 (Downloaded files with spaces are not opened): Added support for quoted arguments"

great ... thanks.

Installing this over the existing stable version is recommended? will it upgrade the existing version?

Thanks

Tom 4. September 2009, 14:48

So in other words, this is a newer build of 10 final, with unite? The base opera version is newer than 10.0 final?

miloe 4. September 2009, 14:48

Get an error when starting this build on XP: "error initializing Opera: Module 9"

Ar1Pe 4. September 2009, 14:54

Thank you.

arghwashier 4. September 2009, 14:54

there is no x86_64 qt4 rpm package, even though the other qt4 packages are there :frown:

blinkybill 4. September 2009, 14:55

Hi,

Thanks for the new Opera 10.10 Build, but I don't
think the color of the menu looks right in Windows XP.
Most of the menus in XP programs are usually white with
the dark blue color when you hover over a menu item.
This build also seems some what faster than the previous
Opera 10 Final which for me was quite slow compared to
other builds in the 10 series.

cheers
blinky

To be even more clear it is Opera 10 stable with Unite beta, or opera 10.10 beta, which means there will be a Opera 10.10 final, you just keep downloading every snapshot and updating, all of the are more stable and contain more bugfixes, it takes you five minutes a week to have the latest build.

I considered opera 10 stable since June, it worked all in all fine for me.

Chianti 4. September 2009, 14:57

Cool!

Dave 4. September 2009, 14:58

Am I imaging it? Or is this build faster?

Either way, great job.

Mac OSX 10.4.11 PPC

Teo 4. September 2009, 15:04

Do you plan to release a bare bug-fix release to Opera 10 without any unite stuff? I do not want to use alpha Opera as my every-day browser but the fixes are very sweet.

PH 4. September 2009, 15:05

My reported bugs (DSK-262330, DSK-258473) are still present :frown:

The first one is easy to correct. The second one is more complicated (but I explained everything in the report).

Either way, thanks for the snapshot, you rock :D

Nguyen 4. September 2009, 15:06

Opera 10! Hummm... nice work!

But I think its time to strip off features like mail, chat, torrents, unite from the main core and make them extensions. It would be nice to have a clean and light browser without features I will never use.

Opera 10 wastes more memory than ever before.

David Tsunamy 4. September 2009, 15:07

Opera Chat isn't working since 2 snapshot on Linux and Windows. The personal server (irc.irc-hispano.org) and other is not connect never.

I create new chat account to try it. This channel have +500 users, but it show only 0.

Screenshot: http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/7066/sinttulom.png

It connect perfect on annother irc client.

Please fix it! :frown:

belthur 4. September 2009, 15:07

Yes !!! Thanks !!!

Edit : Wachovia.com does not work...Please please fix it....

I've just tried this server, it works pretty well. There are about 4100 channels. I joined one of them (with around 950 users). And I can talk

Someone explain this please. :worried:

On Opera?? :faint:

For me:
- Konversation: OK
- Opera 10: Not show any user (Linux & Windows on same ports)
- Opera 10.10: Not show any user (Linux & Windows on same ports)

P.D: Opera not show channel list too.

Harish 4. September 2009, 15:19

yay!

Quppa 4. September 2009, 15:21

I'm very pleased that attention is being paid to the menu styling in Windows. Unfortunately, the new appearance is even worse than the XP-styling found in 10.00 and earlier :frown: With the possible exception of the two-column menu found when hiding the menu bar, is there no possibility that native menus can be used under Vista/7? That, together with the non-native tooltips and outdated file XP-era file dialogs are genuinely my biggest qualms with Opera today. (Which is probably a good thing - the rest of the browser is top-notch, especially 10.00!)

Galileo 4. September 2009, 15:23

This is a snapshot so it would be better to install into its own folder and not update the final.

Opera is clean and light by default. Mail and other features are hidden or disabled by default, and really don't affect performance or memory usage unless you actually use them.

Opera 10 wastes more memory than ever before.

If Opera 10 uses more memory than before, it is not because of features you aren't using. Removing mail would not make Opera use less memory.

But please do not post such comments here. We are looking for relevant feedback, not requests based on misunderstandings or other wishes, as they should be posted in the wish-list forum.

(Yes, this means that further comments on this subject are off-topic as well, and should not be posted here.)

bug or feature, I am not sure, you need to fill out all the info (real name, email, even if you make it up) for opera to properly connect to irc

Could you try to be a bit more specific when reporting problems? Include all relevant details, any testcases/sites that show the problem, etc.

patkoscsaba 4. September 2009, 15:32

Very good ... downloading right now ... I jumped over the 10 final because there was no Unite in it.

Fernando 4. September 2009, 15:34

Still present the issue with es-ES es-LA. I hope it would be solved for the next stable build...

Juliata 4. September 2009, 15:36

Thank you very much for new build with Unite! However, the tray icon is still missing...(intel-32bit;qt4;xfce)
