Opera Desktop Team

A lucky build?

Do you feel lucky? Well do you, Opera user?

This lucky build was born on Friday 13th! As luck would have it, it became an RC for Opera 10.10. That means that you are lucky enough to get to report any critical bugs, regressions, and so on, before we release it.

This no longer installs in the snapshot/beta path, so watch out for that or you could quickly run out of luck. (The default startup page still says beta, and that is because as far as the rest of the world is concerned, the latest official version of 10.10 is a beta.)

Good luck!

WARNING: This is a Friday 13th RC. It no longer installs in a snapshot/beta folder. It contains the latest changes, but should be stable enough for release. But as an RC, it could be unlucky enough to be pulled if any serious issues are found.

I don't know wether this Bug is known/reproducible/critical? However this is very annoying for me (WinXP, Opera 10.10 build 1874).

Fixed Bug DSK-270351 (Unite applications never started after restart)

Doesn't work over here. I have to manually restart all apps after a restart. Not even a clean install helped. (Win7)

But I like the latest changes to Unite-home!

There was something about these testing ECMAScript 3 conformance, while they don't test ECMAScript 5, which Opera is moving towards. The scores may not actually be that interesting for that reason, and because they may not take real-world sites into account.

Widgets are still there, but not outside the browser as in the labs build. That is for a different version. Opera 10.10 is the Unite release.

Z1-AV69 Friday, November 13, 2009 2:32:42 PM

Found one more problem: I had a domain redirect to http://[Computername].z1-av69.operaunite.com/webserver/content/ to show the page hosted with webserver-app (which is set to allow public access). Everything worked fine with all the past builds.

When I now open the domain, it redirects to http://[mydomain]/webserver/content/?session-redirect=noCookie where some strange page without css is shown. Not even the link to Unite-home works on this page.
The problem exists only through the redirect via the domain, if I come from my Unite-home, everything is as expected.

Please fix this or at least give a hint what to set up as domain-redirect address.

Regression in the installer:

overlapped buttons

Filed as DSK-270904

D1sasterp1ece Friday, November 13, 2009 2:48:33 PM

This no longer installs in the snapshot/beta path

Yeah, the install path defaults to c:\program files\opera. Does that mean that I cannot install it over 1857? Both are 10.10, it should work right

If you direct the installer to it, you can update your install. If you want to move your profile to the new path, rename the profile folder from opera-beta to opera and edit all relevant .ini files too (hint, open all .ini files using notepad++ and search inside files).

Is Unite running completely before you close Opera? That is, you aren't closing it just after logging in or starting the applications?

Is this a clean install? Have you made sure that Unite is running completely before closing Opera?

Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit Karmic? On 64 bit, which I run, there are some flash issues but I think it's more about the plugin than Opera itself. I used to have no problems, then changed to the 64 bit flash version manually but some things just didn't work that well. Reverted back to the repo version and ever since it's a mess. Online radio through flash works, but as soon as I hit a page that has flash, the plugin won't show the content and crashes when the tab is closed.

Yes, Unite has been running for at least minutes and the status icon is green without problems. Same for the apps running.

Edit: I have to correct myself. A clean install without reusing the old operaprefs.ini works. Sorry for the false alarm. whistle

Edit2: After re-customizing on the basis of a fresh operaprefs.ini (with preferences dialog and opera:config) , the problem reappears. I didn't make any changes to Unite related values though.

Edit3: Did a clean install without reusing any old files. I just logged Unite in. After leaving it running for a minute and a Opera restart, no app restarted automatically. So it wasn't a false alarm. sad

This build is working really well for me so far. One question will these fixes be back logged to a 10.2 version without Unite? Or will things moving forward included unite from here on out?

Adam Kaczmarekadamkpl Friday, November 13, 2009 4:35:13 PM

Doesn't look good:

"Fixed Bug DSK-270796 (About Opera moved back into Help menu)"

Who asked about this?!? Mac user always looks for About in the Application menu, this is standardized by AHIG. Move it BACK, please.

imarooned Friday, November 13, 2009 4:49:25 PM

Thanks for RC !
Although I noticed that one old bug has returned. Public access on unite application doesn't work and it still asks for password. :/ On couple of previous builds everything was ok though.
