Opera 10.50 beta 2 for Windows has been released!


Beta 2 contains many significant improvements over the first beta, and we would like to thank everyone who helped us test Opera for your great work! Your invaluable feedback really does make a difference, and it helps us turn Opera into an even better browser.

For those of you who have been following the About.com Reader's Choice Awards browser vote, remember that today is the last day of voting.

We hope to have new builds ready for Unix and Mac testing shortly.

(Upgrading from 3271)
● The <select> problem (last page of comments, previous release) is 10 times worse in it...
● the "handle" for stretching the Tab Bar size is MIA.
● Frames on "box-like" controls (like Panels) are missing in Native Skin.
● "Closed Tabs" icon, miniaturizes when hovered (switch Tabs from left/right, right/bottom, etc it gets its own weird "frame" like the [+] button), otherwise it works normally.

On the plus side, opera:* pages are looking good again... up lol, even if somewhat misaligned.

After a completely clean install (uninstall Opera Beta using it's un/installer, deleting all folders, etc)

1st Startup = Crash
2nd Startup = Only empty Tab Bar, no other controls, empty "Working Area"
3rd Startup = Normal

● Tab bar handle still missing when Tabs set to bottom.
● Still not stable with Native Skin.

But, weird Closed Tabs behavior fixed... posting from 10.1 as I watch 10.5 freeze to death...lol

Message text pane contents does not follow selected message when browsing through message list with keyboard

Hitting Enter on message title opens empty window

Thanks guys, great build so far, but please fix issue DSK-279988 (and related DSK-279460). It's a very serious regression from Opera 10.10. Opera 10.50 fails with an "Internal communication error", while all other browsers just work fine.

I really hope you'll consider this a show stopper for the final release.

Fixed Bug DSK-277616 (Min/max/close buttons non-functional when 'full transparency' is enabled)

Thanks a lot for this fix. Now only the plugins issue keeps fully transparent skins from being perfectly usable.

The skin changes are great, especially the hidden dragbar. This should have been done a year ago...

One suggestion: Make the panel close button buttonsize (22x22) instead of iconsize (16x16). With the current iconsize implementation the height of the panel header is determined by the font(size) of the panel name in it. You will never be able to have the panel header at the same height as addressbar when people are using different fonts or fontsizes. If the panel close button is 22x22, it would for conventional fontsizes be larger than the text and so the height of the panel header could be made equal to addressbar with most fonts.

Edit: And thanks for bringing back the old O-menu buttonbackground, good move imho!

  1. Autoupdater found the update, but when attempting to download it shows an error with the message: "An error occurred during download (connection failed.", manual download and update worked as it should.

I had crashes on Gmail , setting chat module on right side was the culprit!

On Gmail labs
-disabling chat on right side on Gmail fixed my Gmail crash.... Just to let u guys know!
