Opera 10.50 for Windows is released
By Ruarí Ødegaardruario. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 10:02:08 AM
In the last couple of blog posts, several of you commented that our developers deserve some time off and whilst that is true, I know the Mac and UNIX teams are still hungry to get their own versions of 10.50 out. So there will be no slacking off, just yet. Development continues apace!
Whilst you Mac and UNIX users await your respective finals, we thought we'd give you another snapshot. Like the Windows final, these builds have the latest rendering improvements but are understandably still rougher around the edges, as they have not yet been fully optimised and integrated into their environments (though Mac is getting close).
Highlights- The latest Presto and Carakan improvements
-
Mac
- No support for PowerPC (PPC)
- Minimal Java Support
- Possible performance issues on low end machines
-
UNIX
- Font problems
- Language input issues
- Compiz issues
- No .deb or .rpm packages
- Some Command line option don't work

when you right clicked an image,in 10.10 and before, it showed the name of the file just to the right of the "open image" action. This was very useful for some tasks
in 10.50 this is missing

I found that little feature useful, too. To use "Image properties" you need to learn to dodge the "Inspect Element" menu item - it would be nice to have the name of the image in the context menu again.Originally posted by OperaDrBruce:
That looks like the same skin to me, except you've upgraded from a previous installation where you'd customised the toolbar layout (so you have the old panel toggle button in the top menu instead of the status bar area, which you've switched off). Or am I missing something obvious?JesseKnowthought # Wednesday, March 3, 2010 2:41:06 AM

I Have Vista, and installed the Win 7 (or a very good copy) transparency DLL to my machine, and I can make my copy look EXACTLY like the one on Softpedia if I revert to defaults, change my desktop wallpaper, and use the right color scheme.
(Instead, I use Z1-Glass skin, because it is an aesthetic masterpiece.)
Your toolbars are definitely customized from the original, so you have either done that, or installed your copy as an upgrade over a customized build. Also, I don't see your wallpaper, so it's black, or you don't have aero turned on, OR (can't tell for sure from your screenshot) you have the personal bar turned on.
Also, the Opera window on softpedia is not maximized and yours is. Thak makes the tabs hang down below the "O" button.

Definitely this site uses some dinosaur-era script for this collapsible menu tree.

btw. is it possible to make that when opera is minimized, right clicking opera in taskbar and choosing new tab or new private tab will open opera window.
it makes no sense that opera stays minimized when creating new tab. and when opera window is already active, no one will be right clicking opera in taskbar to create new tab. everyone will click +

Congratulations!
Great job!
But may I directly upgrade from Opera 10.10 to 10.50?
Or may I use my profile from Opera 10.10?
Or need I to do clear install?
Thanks!
