Opera Desktop Team

On a roll: Opera 10.51 for Windows released

Opera 10.51 (build 3315) for Windows has been released.

Now even faster than before!

For example, Peacekeeper can be up to 20-30% faster than in Opera 10.50 (in fact, Opera 10.51 is currently listed as being part of the fastest system at Peacekeeper). Read more about the performance improvements at Choose Opera and the Opera Developer Network (you can also read about how Google's tests show that Opera has the most compliant JavaScript engine).

This release also addresses a couple of security issues, as well as various stability improvements and other bug fixes. Please see the changelog for more details.

Opera 10.51 final is a Windows-only release, but we are working hard on bringing the Mac and Unix versions to product quality. The build is the same as RC3.

As this is a security release, it will be available as an automatic update for Opera 10.50 and older versions that support automatic updates.

Since this is mainly a security update, I'm looking forward for future releases that contain new features wink.

Congrats. 10.51 is much better than version 10.5. I think it was a good decision to release 10.5 in time for the Browser choice screen and then fix the most urgent bugs with this release. up

no changes until RC3 and final? sad
it's still not possible to move links direct to a folder in the Sidebar.
Opera have a very high ram usage. The evil is, when you close some tabs, it doesn't will less usage.

When will the Windows Native skin become Windows Native again?

In any case at least this release is a lot better than the original 10.50 release.

Thank you Opera Team.

@ AgentCROCODILE:

I think they shall remove the native skin, since the standard skin is more native now than the native skin.

Why does the search bar have to be so wide ? It's all over the page. Can't your make it narrow like in version 10.10 ? Also progress bar sometimes gets stretched.

One more thing, sometimes you can't paste new text on top of the old.

Can anyone say if the middle clicking / copy link address still caches redirected URLs incorrectly? And if the flickering while scrolling still exists? And finally, if double clicking the tab bar still causes the page to lose focus?

Still present. Did you file a bug report about it?

Happens to me from time to time.

I'm not sure about this one. What do you mean? If I double click the tab bar I get a new empty tab.

Rui Costarpsgc Monday, March 22, 2010 11:41:38 AM

It's the same build as RC3 confused

If your mouse software allows, assign the keystroke "alt+right arrow" to that button for Opera. I've been using that since 10.5 to make the mouse 'forward' button behave the way it used to.

For instance, the speed dial pages may not load on the first click, you might have to click twice.

Final = RC3 (r3315). Thus, YES, that bug is still there... A bit annoying bug...

Yep, reported in the pre-beta stages I think, it's DSK-282518.

Double click the tab bar, new tab appears, move the cursor to over the new page content (eg the speed dial entries) and the first click you do doesn't register nor do any hover effects.

pls show changelog since rc3
thx. up

The speed thing... is really getting a bit ridiculous.

Fast is good but I just ran Peacekeeper just for the heck of it and broke 10k, 10409.

I think at the start of the 10.5x branches I was hitting around 7000 or so so that's some crazy improvement.
