+1! Me too!

Still not able to resize videos on youtube....
scrolling is nearly very smooth now!up

Tri M. NguyenTriMN Friday, April 9, 2010 3:33:40 PM

The scrolling isn't that smooth like mac-smooth(like all other mac components/software and other browser "without names") where when you scroll 1px with your finger. You really scroll 1px on the screen. Opera smooth scroll is 1px with finger = 10px (or something not smoothy number).

This is the first time I activate smooth-scrolling (after having to try it very long time ago) it seems jumpy.

I'm on the latest and biggest Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.6.3 p

More edits: and using the Magic Mouse with momentum scrolling (hurray for the cmd and option key switch in the other build)

TimFetimo Friday, April 9, 2010 3:39:36 PM

Fonts aren't being cut off! <3

Although this and the last build has an issue with Spaces, when you move it to a separate Space it just 'follows' wherever you are and doesn't stick to the right Space. I can provide a video of the behaviour if you wish?

Thanks for the build.

Works nearly perfect.

Found one big mistake:
web.de uses for its web mailer an iframe (to display the messages). This iframe is shrunken to maybe 100x100 pixel. This bug is only relevant in this version.

tunnelblick Friday, April 9, 2010 4:22:46 PM

Strange - with all dev-builds Opera won't even try to establish a network connection. It seems as if I was offline... In 10.10 it works perfectly. OSX is 10.5.8 PPC.

Tri M. NguyenTriMN Friday, April 9, 2010 4:25:33 PM

Doesn't allways respond to Quit signal (cmd + q) and can't connect to Opera Link using a clean install of the latest Opera build (this build).

Jeff ™intelimac20inch Friday, April 9, 2010 4:36:56 PM

yes coffee Thanks Opera Devs, have a great weekend.

techlawsam Friday, April 9, 2010 4:53:27 PM

closed tabs button doesn't work so I couldn't reopen any of the tabs that I had closed..I will file a bug report later today. But Thanks for this build, Opera for the Mac platform is really starting to shape up! bigsmile

Harlekin Mondharlekinmond Friday, April 9, 2010 4:56:57 PM

Thank you very much for the smooth scrolling *love* but it takes a lot of CPU when it is used...

Maciej TarmasTarmas Friday, April 9, 2010 5:04:08 PM

There's a graphical glitch when invoking the Wand... errr... the Password Manager for a site with multiple saved logins.

The drop down dialog for selecting a username comes down, you select one, and the screenshot below shows the thing that's left.

It's been present in the previous builds, I just forgot to report it.

Minimizing Opera to the Dock and maximizing it back makes it disappear.

Anyway, thanks for this build. A lot of bugs that I have reported are gone by now. Opera Mac is looking a lot better than I expected, so please keep up the great work!

Kiuzekiuze Friday, April 9, 2010 5:14:57 PM

STILL very very slow on my C2D iMac running 10.6.3 :-/

adidasprince Friday, April 9, 2010 5:17:40 PM

Opera 10.5x will stop working when key pressed.
I tried all snapshots here without lucky.
Intel Mac, Snow Leopard 10.6.3.

of course, EVERY video on youtube does! Just cause the original is in an open source codec it doesn't stay if you upload it on tube. Of course it is converted to h.264...

Ugh and i was just hoping that this build fixes it. Not gonna try it then, sticking to the older one sad

d4rkn1ght Friday, April 9, 2010 6:22:02 PM

yes

petos515 Friday, April 9, 2010 6:24:45 PM

Spaces is still broken in this build.

I filed a bug report for the last build (DSK-293368) and I’ll file it again for this build.

It makes Opera unusable.

Martin EberhardtDarkFoxDK Friday, April 9, 2010 6:28:21 PM

Nice! I no longer have the cut text issue.

Martinpolov Friday, April 9, 2010 6:43:33 PM

I had problem with starting and stoping Opera application. Problem solved by deleting cache (~/Library/Cache/Opera 10.5..)

Kamaleshkamalesh Friday, April 9, 2010 6:49:19 PM

Wow, great fixes! No font blurring any longer with smooth scrolling, restore closed tabs working fine, and stable...

Still seeing a glitch that doesn't allow removing search field from address bar when set to "show progress inside addr bar."

Also, when address bar is showing progress (page is loading), the old button set is visible, not the new integrated Rewind/Back buttons; but strangely, the OLD buttons show favicons in the Rewind/Back list, while the new integrated Rewind/Back show text of sites, but no favicons.

This Opera v10.5x branch is a full-Cocoa rewrite, so many native items have been & will continue, to be added. Having said that, your comment was sufficiently vague...by not mentioning even 1-2 native Cocoa items you think that should be prioritized.

Петър Славовpetersl Friday, April 9, 2010 7:43:18 PM

I've noticed that checkboxes and radiobuttons turn upside-down, dropdown menus look distorted and the text on buttons is only partly visible when changing the zoom level. Can somebody else recreate it and should I file this as a bug?

Some stability problems on PPC

Oh I can't wait until that is no longer there.

My bad. Let me think of some. (most complaints may be Mac specific)
* When you hover over some text, the mouse tool does not change to text select tool but stays as pointer. I know you can select text with the normal mouse pointer in Opera, but it just doesn't seem right to me. Especially since every other app doesn't do it this way.
* I feel Opera toolbars are oversized. I'm aware that I can change the Icon size in Tools > Appearance. But it doesn't change the height of the toolbar. With the current way it is implemented, I see no point in changing the Icon size setting.
* Where is the History menu? I know I can access History from sidebar/Trash, but I have found the History menu to be of soooo much use in Safari, Chrome, etc than using the sidebar. (Speaking on sidebar, what's with its hideous color in Native skin?)
* When I'm using Safari, I don't have to visit another page to check a word's meaning. I simply key in Cmnd + Ctrl + D while hovering above the word. I believe this is a Cocoa feature, and I'd greatly appreciate it if it's implemented in Opera as well. (no browser other than Safari seems to have this, Evernote has this)
* Why does the Find in page bar disappear after a few seconds. If I have typed in a long string, but want to just edit some part of it after some time, I'll have to type in the entire thing again. Again, why is the Find bar so clunky?
* Resizable text areas.
* Integration of search suggestions in the Search field. (With Safari, I can at least install Glims to achieve this)

And, in general, the looks don't seem to blend so well on Mac.
(Make no mistake, I'm a huge Opera fan. I just want to see it pretty and polished, that's all)

PS: For an excellent example of a non-Apple and well-done Cocoa app, look at Transmission.

Still can't browse with javascript enabled on my PPC machine sad

Fraterius Friday, April 9, 2010 8:05:09 PM

Great job guys, we've been waiting for this for a long time wink. I feel that MacOS version is "deprecated" a little bit wink.

Matt LaingSquirrellyMcGee Friday, April 9, 2010 9:47:27 PM

It doesn't work for me either, I'm running mac OS 10.5.8, I click on it, it opens in the dock closes, reopens and then closes in a couple seconds without ever showing a window. 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Danieledarklink88 Friday, April 9, 2010 9:56:52 PM

Thank you!

theradex Friday, April 9, 2010 9:58:37 PM

Getting better, but there's one thing I hope you'll work on - appearance. I love how Opera 10.5 looks on Windows 7, however I don't like how Mac version looks - it's just... i don't know. Not macish enough wink Safari is good example of good appearance.

PS. Better mac integration would be also appreciated smile

I really liked the smooth scrolling.

But, what's wrong with the headline Flash banner in the the Star Wars home page?

I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.3

Espenher Friday, April 9, 2010 10:38:04 PM

I would love if one of you Opera guys could do a thing similar to this on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/boipt/i_work_on_the_firefox_user_experience_team_and

Maybe for Opera as a whole, and not just the UI, since that has become pretty good in 10.50 already. The voting and community is great there, and quite a few of them seems to like and use Opera, so you could probably get some nice feedback and based on the sorting system some sence over what most people want fixed.

lince Friday, April 9, 2010 10:46:38 PM

Espenher, as long as it's done in the proper subreddit.

Danieledarklink88 Friday, April 9, 2010 11:19:10 PM

I've just noticed that when a download is complete, the download folder in the dock now bounces! very nice guys! up
But Unfortunately Opera doesn't follow spaces's rules...

hooray! thank you headbang

senbey Saturday, April 10, 2010 1:19:33 AM

Nice build! No cut off font. Fixed DSK-290499.
Thank you!!
but still need more CPU usage than 10.10 when Flash, scrolling, Google Reader...etc.

adioni Saturday, April 10, 2010 1:33:28 AM

This following regression has been in all the post-10.5 builds from what I can tell (I believe also in the Windows builds as well):

If I move the variable-width search bar (the one with the favicon drop down on the left and the magnifying glass on the right) to the main bar, then Opera no longer starts thereafter or takes an extremely long time.

Also it shows up under the "Customize-->Appearance-->Buttons-->Search "section as a selectable item only at random times; most of the time it isn't even there.

adioni Saturday, April 10, 2010 2:05:30 AM

2 more things: The "Close All Others" & "Close" Buttons from http://operawiki.info/CustomButtons I've used since around Opera 7.x , now look extremely out of place with the rest of the main bar buttons with their light colored centers.

Likewise with the "New Tab" button I like to place to the left of all the tabs, its height is now much taller then all the other tabs and its background color is much lighter.

Both of these listed elements stick out like a sore thumb, while they certainly didn't back in Opera 10.10

adioni Saturday, April 10, 2010 2:27:18 AM

Last thing: I don't seem to be able to drag *anything* onto the personal bar.

drufix Saturday, April 10, 2010 7:53:08 AM

furious bye this version is not working as it should. It takes forever to load:bomb: I´m on a mac pro and I have other browsers that work fine but I have been using opera for years, but now I think I´ll throw it out. It just sucks.

Danieledarklink88 Saturday, April 10, 2010 8:06:42 AM

@Drufix
did you realize that this is a snapshot or not?

Have done a clean install? If not, remove "Opera 10.50"-folders from "Library/Preferences" and "Library/Application Support" in your user folder.

DaleCooper666 Saturday, April 10, 2010 11:06:02 AM

scrolling rocks!

mmpietro Saturday, April 10, 2010 2:22:37 PM

Scrolling really rocks!

Every time I'm going to test a new snapshot, I do remove the current version installed in my mac using AppCleaner; a free software that removes apps and all its vestiges. After that, I install the latest snapshot.

It is the best method for a clean install?

Kamaleshkamalesh Saturday, April 10, 2010 4:20:56 PM

This build is quite refined and working beautifully. Nice job.

Couple tweaks I may suggest, but not regressions. Have these been reported already? I can submit as bugs.

o Nickname Mode doesn't show any menu of auto-fill nicknames (shift+F2)
o Fast-fwd (shift+x) stops working after 2nd page of "latest blog posts" list at Wired.
o The slide-down dialog animations are nice, but many are too instantaneous. The point is to allow the user to see & feel organic movement, otherwise just popping them up in 1 ms like in Windows would be sufficient.
o Also noticed the "Add Bookmark" still pops-up, instead of sliding-down.

Keep it up. wink

AppCleaner is not recommendable in general, use these 3 steps for Opera:
  1. remove "Opera 10.50" folder from "Library/Preferences" in your user folder
  2. remove "Opera 10.50" folder from "Library/Application Support" in your user folder
  3. replace your old snapshot .app with the new one (even better: delete the old one and copy the new one, in order to prevent Mac OS from creating multiple entries in context menu)
