No? “Opera window does not stick to its designated Space” should have been fixed in the previous snapshot. This RC contains the changes from that snapshot too. (As always unless otherwise noted.) If you feel that it is not fixed, then please provide us with more details/screen recording demo of what functionality remains broken.

ossi81 Friday, April 16, 2010 2:32:53 PM

crasheds for me on some internal java applets at https://e-campus.uibk.ac.at/portal/_cpsindex.html (10.2 worked fine)

a report should have been send.

Dandantist Friday, April 16, 2010 2:37:42 PM

Awesome! Can't wait to try it out this evening.

I will get back to you on that. I first downloaded the Intel only version and it seemed to still have the bug. I tried the UB and it seemed fine. I am currently redownloading the Intel version and if I have the bug again I will edit this comment and link you to a screenrec.
If it's fine I'll let you know too.

(Still not happy with the way dragging the window works though:

EDIT: Ok, you guys seem to be right. It is fixed. I might add that I updated from build 8308 using the autoupdater before.

blangbl4nG Friday, April 16, 2010 2:42:07 PM

Thank you smile Spaces was fixed for me in the previous build too.
But I have a question since we have to move some preference files again – which file saves the info of what content I have blocked on pages?

newsteve Friday, April 16, 2010 2:42:17 PM

DSK-294384 overlay menus and flash are conflicting each other:
1. Go to http://www.hetzner.de/
2. Move your mouse over "webhosting" or "root server", while the flash
animation is running. Also move your mouse over the menu items.
3. The overlay menus get corrupted.(perhaps you have to wait some seconds)

This creates ugly artifacts! Fix it!

Alastairalastair27 Friday, April 16, 2010 2:50:39 PM

blang: ~/Library/Preferences/Opera Preferences/urlfilter.ini

newsteve Friday, April 16, 2010 2:53:12 PM

Logout of GMX.net is not possible! I get this Opera error message
"Weiterleitungsstatus

Die URL wurde nach weitergeleitet. Bitte klicken Sie den Link, um dorthin zu gelangen.
Generiert durch Opera."
But there is no click-able link. In the error source code I find only a empty link: a href="" /a

In all other bowsers this works flawlessly.

Davedfyfe Friday, April 16, 2010 2:53:57 PM

MUCH better. I can use this without it crashing....

Good job. OSX 10.4.11 PPC

IusedtobeOOlli91 Friday, April 16, 2010 3:22:25 PM

Stoll some bugs, not final - of course not, the last build was the most instable one in the last 2 or 3 weeks...but this one is quite good. No crashes so far, scrolling is better (sometimes the bottom bar scrolls up with the page, little UI bug) and is for me as fast as Safari. I'm still not able to resize youtube video (maybe you should test this with Flash 10.1, the final will come out in a few weeks).
Looking out for more bugs...

Tri M. NguyenTriMN Friday, April 16, 2010 3:39:05 PM

ctrl + tab doesn't show the tab list. But it cycles through the tabs. Is it a new way to handle tab change, or just some minor bug?

Tri M. NguyenTriMN Friday, April 16, 2010 3:57:58 PM

When you download a file into the Download folder in OS X. Opera sets the folder as default download folder. But when you upload a file from another directory, Opera sets THAT directory as default download folder.

Slightly OT, but now that PPC support is optimized, when will Carakan and enhancements find their way onto the Internet Channel on the Wii? This would really improve the internet experience on the device. I understand if you can't commit to an ETA or even reveal you're working on it, but I'm just saying that there's a demand for it.

What you are looking for is Alt–Tab. Control–Tab is a different feature and have never displayed the tab cycler on Mac at least.

Dustin WilsonKhadgar Friday, April 16, 2010 4:15:40 PM

@Jakob: The problem is that some of Apple's PPC computers are still less than 4 years old, including the one I have presently at work. There's no reason to upgrade the G5 at work because it's still a functioning and fast computer. Opera supports computers on other platforms well older than that and for systems which have a smaller user base.

I think, though, sometime in the not too distant future it would be appropriate to drop support for PPC Mac as I would imagine the user base on the old architecture isn't that large. In fact, I had already accepted that PPC wasn't going to be supported by 10.5 because it took so long for word to get back to us that it was going to be supported. Many developers are dropping support already.

I'd like to say that the PPC stability is quite a bit better. I've been able to browse for 30 minutes so far without a crash. Great job on stability, guys. Looks like the deviantART login problem has been fixed. I never could figure out what exactly was going on, whether it was a problem on their end or the browser's.

Anyway, there are some small UI problems on the Mac builds. I've pointed them out here. The fat border between the combined back and forward buttons has been fixed (\o/), but the grey stripe at the bottom of the window when status bar is disabled is still present in this build. It's not an error in the skin file as any custom skin I use contains a stripe at the bottom of the color or appearance of the window skin. The other one there about the margins on the address bar input is more of a nitpick. I could adjust that personally in a custom skin.

Gmail still crashes for me.
Plus I'm still getting this:
http://files.myopera.com/apa240/files/Snapshot%202010-04-16%2012-12-37.jpg -

Other than Gmail, it has been very stable for me. up I know us few PPC Mac users really appreciate all the work that you have put into making it work for us. Keep up the awesome work.

Edit: Anyone else unable to change Quick Preferences from Opera menu? Mac OS X 10.5.8 PPC

What, haha, that was almost embarrassing. Can't believe I mixed up those two sad whistle

I've got a not so obvious crashing issue on IT's Learning. When open up pages that contains links to an external webpage. Since It's Learning doesn't links directly to that webpage when you add a link to the "tree". You get an internal it's learning page. And on that page you got the link to the external page. Reproduces is by:
1. logging into It's Learning
2. open a course and expand a folder containing lots of pages that links to external sites (haven't got to reproduce it on pages that contains internal files etc.)
3. hold cmd and click on ... let's say 8 links almost rapidly... and then release the cmd button, and hit the 2 button to cycle to the next tab (with single key shortcut active in Opera settings).
4. crash

My tab settings are: "When cycling through tabs with option + Tab: Cycle in tab bar order", "When closing a tab: Activate the next tab", "Open new tab next to active". The rest is default.

The it's learning layout is using framsets with some silly JS :]

Thanks, feels quite stable and much faster than 10.10

Java plugin causes some visual glitches:
Go to this URL and scroll up/down (slowly)
https://www.finnzymes.fi/tm_determination.html
For me it show the contents of the tab before when scrolling (so you may have to have another tab open before you open this page)

And I would still vote for being able to resize and move the window as in 10.10 (using BetterTouchTool) - although this may not come as Opera is now using Cocoa and this limits the position/size - correct ?

google-mail works for me

[Mac OS X 10.6.3]

Петър Славовpetersl Friday, April 16, 2010 5:11:24 PM

There still are problems with the Flash plugin. If you open an overlaid dialog box on top of a Flash movie by typing javascript:alert("something"); in the address bar, you will see corruptions or the Flash movie will completely disappear. You can try it on this site http://www.alphabounce.com/ , but it can happen on any other site using Flash.

Danieledarklink88 Friday, April 16, 2010 5:20:46 PM

stability and performance are very good on my macbook, but please, before release the final build, consider to refine the skin/appearence of opera. You've done a wonderful job for the Cocoa integration, but i think that you should improve at least two aspects:
1- the upper left corner where the light blue of the panel bar melts with the grey of the tab. The problem in my opinion appears only when the first tab on the left is selected. On the contrary, when another tab is selected, the panel bar is separated from the tab bar with a thin line that gives a more pleasant effect (suggestion: try to move a little the first tab to the left, or use a thin line to divide);
2- the buttons on the right present on the password manager/block ads bar. They are too squared, mac osx needs buttons with round edges.

Christopher UngerUncleUngie Friday, April 16, 2010 5:27:25 PM

Rocker gestures to go back and forward bring up contextual menus when they shouldn't.

GMail crashes on PPC.

Thanks, guys!

sinnfrei Friday, April 16, 2010 5:30:12 PM

There seems to be another visual glitch when using the Quicktime plugin, goto e.g. http://www.apple.com/ipad/gallery/#ad start the video and drag the time-slider to left/right - this causes flicker in repainting (only while dragging the slider)

[Mac OS X 10.6.3]

larsmarius Friday, April 16, 2010 5:31:23 PM

silverlight still goes white, and nrk webradio with flip4mac crashes opera... this cant be a final version? both of these things works with safari with same plugins

seebs Friday, April 16, 2010 5:36:35 PM

But it still indents everything with "gt;" instead of ">" (note, I did not omit the ampersand) when replying with "wrap outgoing messages" turned off. Which I reported before. smile

(But it fixes other stuff, so hey, it's better.)

sinnfrei Friday, April 16, 2010 5:40:36 PM

Found another one: use mouse-gesture in speed-dial to close the tab (down, right) brings up context-menu first (as if right-clicked only), but if you left-click somewhere (outside the context-menu) the tab is closed. Happens only in speed-dial

Cannot open private blogs on blogger...

And I cannot report this with Opera built in report webpage function.

EDIT:

For those of you seeing the PPC gmail crash: What exactly are you doing on gmail when it crashes? What gmail features are you using? Anything based in Flash? (Video, chat, bells and whistles, …)

Kamaleshkamalesh Friday, April 16, 2010 6:03:52 PM

Just for the heck of it, I upgraded this RC build over my old v10.1 install like most Opera users will.

I'm noticing that this Google Maps page is a reliable crasher. It forces the Apple crash reporter but not the Opera reporter.

Click on the map search result and try to double-click on the map to zoom down.
(OSX v10.6.3)

Wouterwouterb Friday, April 16, 2010 6:07:52 PM

Great, this works on PPC! And Ctrl-click in Google Maps finally works too. Great job, guys. Just the bookmark icons look weird: http://www.phys.uu.nl/~bergmann/opera.png

OS X 10.4.11 PPC

scrungew00t Friday, April 16, 2010 6:10:04 PM

Hmm this build seems to be less stable than 8332.

- crashed in FB (though may be due to other dozen or so tabs still being loaded)

- sfgate.com would not load; stuck at various percentage, so it's not quite the NSL problem either.

I just noticed that zooming is now alt+scroll not cmd+scroll. when did that happen?
I like it though it means no more accidental zooming due to magic mouse momentum. I guess i could have changed it before but I never thought of it

ttaveira Friday, April 16, 2010 6:28:48 PM

Important!

When clicking http links in applications on a different Space than Opera, you don't get switched over to the Space Opera is in.

This didn't used to happen.

endorphinity Friday, April 16, 2010 6:29:26 PM

1. Number of new items is still not displayed in the list of feeds in the Google Reader
2. Artifacts under lines of text in the Google Reader (see at http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2231/screenshot20100416at935.png)

Both bugs are for Intel build.

ilya smirnovilyeah Friday, April 16, 2010 6:33:08 PM

yo! that's great man!
starting from version 10.50 i'v got the problem with my internet-banking site on both OS i'm using Mac and Win. and in this build you fix this.
cool!!!

Java issues still when playing runescape the arrow keys on the keyboard do not respond at all. Intel mac 10.6.3 knight Great fast build other than that. up coffee

Wouterwouterb Friday, April 16, 2010 6:54:57 PM

Found a strange bug: I use SchubertIT's PDF browser plugin. When I command-click on a link to a PDF file (e.g. http://www.springer.com/cda/content/document/cda_downloaddocument/copyrightlncs.pdf ) to open it in a new tab, I get a dialog box offering me to open the PDF using the PDF browser plugin, but I cannot click the "Open" button. If I just click the same link (not command-click), it works OK. Can ayone confirm?

I tried each plugin by itself enabled and it seems to be the flash plugin that crashes it for me. For it to crash, I simply just load Gmail.I think it crashes with something in the chat feature or something that loads up near the end.
I do have all the extra Gmail features off; chat (it still loads the side box for it), buzz, labs and whatever else.

On another note, the Quick Preferences works for me now.

- Custom commands for the mouse thumb buttons (button6/7) still don't work (regression since 10.1x)
- Interface bug in empty opera workspace: new tab button starts flying (regression from 10.1x)
- Panel toggle button can no longer be placed left of tabs in tab bar (regression from 10.1x)
- Double-click in tab bar to open new tab with speed dial requires extra mouse click to get focus of speed dial tab (regression from 10.1x)

- Google Wave still does not work (waves don't get loaded when selected)
- No easy mechanism to disable individual plugins (when security exploits are known but no fix is available). Currently requires editing of plugins ignore file.
- Page title is currently only visible (in statusbar) when clicking on a tab and not moving the mouse off the tab. The userJS that is widely used to achieve a more desired (should be default) behaviour (=show page title statusbar unless on link hover or when something else should be displayed in statusbar) doesn't work on all pages (e.g. this very page).
