The crash on the bbc.co.uk websites still exists with Linux 64bit

very frustrating - makes it unusable for me

Ruarí Ødegaardruario Thursday, June 3, 2010 9:10:14 AM

@Draki: Yep it is annoying but will be fixed. In the mean time if you are willing to accept slightly less performance then you can switch off JIT and bbc.co.uk will load without issues. The preference is here:

opera:config#Extensions|EcmaScriptJIT

Load it as a URL, untick and save. Also remember to re-enable it in the future!

Max IllisDraki Thursday, June 3, 2010 9:12:58 AM

@Ruari

That fixed it. Many thanks indeed. I look forward to the fix as the speed improvements are very impressive on the other sites I had a brief look at

great work!

1. Hide address bar
2. Maximize window
3. Open some site
4. Open some link in backgound tab
5. Restore window
6. Switch to that tab
7. See the effect

I don't know how to describe it

Abhishek ThakurAbhishek9102 Thursday, June 3, 2010 9:44:22 AM

All of you who want to remove the "Menu" text from the "O" button can use my modded "en.lng" file and replace the original file from the directory "Opera\locale\en".However do it only if your Opera installation uses "English" language.

http://files.myopera.com/Abhishek9102/files/en.lng

Right click on the link and select "Save Linked Content As" to save the file.

Users of other languages can edit their respective language files manually.Open xx.lng (Replace xx with your language code) and search for "606160820".Cut or replace the text written next to it for customized O button.I hope it helps.

"CORE-19025 (Objects sent with wrong mime-type are shown incorrectly)"
Is this exe and some other files are downloaded as html? If yes than it's not fixed here on XP SP2.

Thanks for the quick quote fix. up

There is a bug I have already reported, but I would like to know if anyone else has the same problem. I have two windows opened in Opera. I quit Opera and start it again - both windows appear. But when I quit Opera, upgrade it (from version opera_10.54.6331_i386 on Ubuntu 9.10 to this version or any newer then the one I have installed) and start Opera again, only one window appears and it hangs with 100% CPU usage. If I then uninstall Opera, install previous version (6331), the Opera will start normally.

Can anyone confirm that the problem is with multiple windows or that I should try to find it somewhere else?

I still see repainting of webpages (even scrollbar). I use the newest version of nvidia drivers.

Opera is still white on my black KDE's colour scheme.

Ruarí Ødegaardruario Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:07:23 AM

@Ockendorf: More seriously though, thanks for noticing. I have added it to the known issues.

Thanks for the quick quote fix.

It is not fixed for me. At least on my.opera.com forums.

http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utf-8 still crash opera, just fr version page of wikipedia.

Known problem, no need to repeat it here.

Small question here:
When one might expect anythig stable for Unix, or is it just a creature of myth, or more like Shredinger's Cat - here and a the same time not here - quantum release......

Jarasmen Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:17:57 AM

Hey, I don't know if it's just me, but my start bar (below the address bar) disappears on tabs opened from another tab with "Open tab in the background." It's just blank. This has been going on for a few builds now.

Not only Logitech mice. (Users with) other brands of mice that have a horizontal scrollwheel are also affected by this issue.

Is it just me or is "Sync Now" button not working (nothing happens on-click) ?

gogloid Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:27:46 AM

@oceanic: I use version 10.54 (build 6331) where there are no font issues - and I have no problem with using Opera for week, not only 30 seconds smile

Thanks! Testing for bugs. Though the alpha was running pretty well on my machine Win7x64.

maremma Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:44:19 AM

1060_3402 Opera is fast but can not open Vodafone 190 "do-it-yourself", while Opera 1053_3381 yes it do.

xgamer7 Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:45:52 AM

I find bug. Alpha release techradar.com display wrong hot articles block ... so I made screenshot: http://is.gd/cARen
On 10.54 and 10.53 it was display correct.

ikarudelabasto Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:50:28 AM

DSK-300567 is still there (at least on my Mac)

1. Open any page and place the cursor into an input box (google.com will do fine)
2. Invoke the "Save as" dialog (cmd-s on Mac)
3. Try to paste from the clipboard with cmd-v: The clipboard text will be pasted into the page's input box (if there is one) instead of the name field. Very annoying if you save lots of pages locally :-/

And Opera's still a memory / CPU hog...

ikarudelabasto Thursday, June 3, 2010 10:52:59 AM

DSK-300747 remains, too:

1. Go to a webpage that has a colon (":") in its title, e.g.
http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/0,1518,697511,00.html
In its title you got the term "Finanzkrise: Schlimmer Verdacht"
2. Invoke the "Save as" dialog via cmd s (Mac).
3. Opera offers to rename the document to "Finanzkrise/ Schlimmer Verdacht" which is only marginally less bad than the original, since the Forward slash in filenames can mess up file systems, too...

Colon is a reserved character in the Mac file hierarchy. smile Slashes—unlike on *NIX and Windows—is not.

Is it? I can't see it in mine, the latest Opera for Unix.http://culip.net/publications/10/operaSmallScreenFailure.png - Also there's a note in the page New menu description for desktop 10.50
Old: View > Small Screen
New: Removed

Originally posted by Rijk:

Of course, I do. Still, it doesn't work on the side panel.

ikarudelabasto Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:09:10 AM

"Colon is a reserved character in the Mac file hierarchy. Slashes—unlike on *NIX and Windows—is not."

Little misunderstanding here... :-D

I don't mind replacing the colon - Opera does that since v10 (or even 9?), and it is a very intelligent feature.

I just mind that the replacement character is a forward slash, which works fine under Mac but can cause trouble when I send the saved page to a Windows user. Before 10.5x, troublesome characters were replaced with a minus ("-"), which was a perfect solution, since it is acceptable in any file system. Opera should return to this behavior...

Thx Allot for dat fresh snapshot

NRage Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:11:05 AM

Same bug as with the last alpha:
Opera doesnt shut down for me, the UI closes but it opera.exe still keeps running. Cant start Opera again ("another instance already running") until I kill it with the Taskmanager.
Windows 7 64bit here, and Im using Opera`s mailclient which might have to do something with it.

Tried disabling plugins and it dint make a difference.

ikarudelabasto Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:11:36 AM

A weird little regression:

When I click on a non-active tab, it becomes active the moment I click on it, not the moment I release the mouse button again (unlike pre 10.5x).

How am I supposed to pull the tab into a speed dial field this way?

cyberdude mminicyberdude Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:13:52 AM

10.60 Build 3402.....win 7 32 bit
my experiences with cafeworld:
well you have fixed to almost 90% but still there are some glitches while playing the game....

like when there is " heading to your cafe" message displayed, the browser becomes unrepsonsive for 5sec worried and comes back to normal instead of crashing like it used to bigsmile.......

but when i play game and accept any gifts it becomes completely unresponsive for 30 sec and comes back to normal again.....i get "not responding"

you have done great job....but still it needs some tweaks i think...

picapaukrk Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:15:41 AM

Start bar is still broken. Shows nothing with restored tabs, only with new.

KerenSkyy Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:30:42 AM

Glad to see there is a fix for the news.bbc.co.uk crashes! Is there a fix for theregister.co.uk forums issue? I keep getting a 400 error. Thanks.

CJK fonts are still blurry if the page's language is set to english. This bug has been here for so long and was reported a long time ago I really hope it gets fixed soon since it makes english websites with CJK characters cause eye cancer. Just look at the CJK characters on the link below.

netwolf Thursday, June 3, 2010 11:44:51 AM

@Abhishek Thakur: this is just a way to remove the text, but the button doesn't waste less space after removing it here on XP, so it doesn't really help.
