More bug fixing

A new batch of bug fixes is ready for testing. Pay particular attention to URL and file encoding/decoding, and watch for regressions there.

Please try to keep comments on-topic, relevant, and brief. Avoid repeating things, and take discussions to the forums or private messages. It is not necessary to quote the full comment if you do find it necessary to respond to someone. Too many comments can make it difficult for us to keep on top of things, and that means that we could miss out on important problem reports.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features.

Has anyone tried yet if Google Docs document are editable again?

Spenser DavisonSpenserAD Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:29:41 PM

Impressive changelog. I'm still having a minor problem where when I try to close a tab by clicking the 'X' I have to find a "sweet spot" to get the 'X' to appear. Not a big deal but sometimes I'll end up bring a tab up instead of closing it out.

Otherwise everything else seems to be just peachy! Seems like a good build so far otherwise.

Win7, 32bit

wywh Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:32:04 PM

Hey! great build... but still problems in google docs..

Still asking same question..will you include slovenian language in 10.60?

David Santosdavimedrade Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:34:16 PM

Just installed it, and it crashed when I tried to open my Gmail account. It was the Google Talk plugin, which doesn't surprise me per se. But the previous snapshot wasn't crashing.

This is what happened: a few versions ago I installed the Google Talk plugin, soon to learn that it crashes Opera. So I went inside the plugin's folder and renamed it to npgoogletalk.dll.old. Then everything worked.

Today, I installed this snapshot and when I tried to open Gmail, it crashed right away. The Crash Log said it was related to the Google Talk plugin, so I went again in the plugin folder and to my surprise there was a npgoogletalk.dll alongside the other dll that I had renamed. I didn't reinstall (or update) the plugin, so I have no idea how this DLL got there. But either it wasn't crashing the previous snapshot and is crashing this one, or Google was real sneaky and reinstalled the DLL while I was installing the new snapshot.

Since I don't know which, I think I'd better comment here before filing a bug report.

I guess you are using the Z1-Glass skin. Version 2.60 fixed it:

P.s: Thanks for the build yes

Neither voice works, its broken since 10.10

Spenser DavisonSpenserAD Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:43:06 PM

Thanks Kai Ockendorf ....didn't even think of the skin. Problem fixed! Build still looks good!

ohxten Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:45:09 PM

Found a regression, some entries in the address bar dropdown overlap other entries.

Also, I'm still having the search bar appear (until I press the X in the bar) in all tabs after I open up Preferences, change a setting, and press OK. I should note I have the search bar positioned at the bottom of the screen.

Janxcvbn Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:45:45 PM

Is it right that the latest Silverlight is not found by the latest Opera versions (read 10.5++)?
I had Silverlight working in 10.10 but the last month or so, Silverlight is not mentioned in the plugin list of Opera where Silverlight is installed on my system and updated to the latest version.

Jens Christian BlixJensemann Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:52:31 PM

Another great build! Keep building, guys! Thanks for fixing the windows-less flash bug.

Andrew Samandrewsam Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:56:45 PM

Hey nice changelog.. hopefully fixes font hinting issues.

Still hinting doesn't work in my KDE installation. Kubuntu 10.04 KDE 4.4.4. But funnily works in Gnome

Max IllisDraki Tuesday, June 8, 2010 3:59:09 PM

http://news.bbc.co.uk/ still crashing instantly on Ubuntu Lucid 64bit

disable EcmaScriptJIT in opera:config as a workaround

"Thanks @ Ruari Ødegaard # 3. June 2010, 09:10
@Draki: Yep it is annoying but will be fixed. In the mean time if you are willing to accept slightly less performance then you can switch off JIT and bbc.co.uk will load without issues. The preference is here:
opera:config#Extensions|EcmaScriptJIT"

FavDjiXas Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:01:25 PM

I am just curious: why address bar issue was not fixed in last 5-10 builds?

Not all addresses are showing up, when you mouse over on one and use up arrow to navigate, address highlight disappears, but it changes url + when you just quickly click on some random address with mouse (but it was not yet highlighted for some reason), it opens completely different url.

I think they need someone to write it at first.

No *nix font news? )-':E
I'll give rhid build a try when it gets to Gentoo Portage tree, but seems like I'll have to stick with 6346 ATM

Fixed DSK-277917 (Advanced menu in download tab doesn't appear for files downloaded to non-ASCII folder)

It appears this is not really fixed. There's not menu for «D:\Мои документы\dialog.zip»

leomajko Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:20:59 PM

Great update!

Found a minor bug:
When I put the mouse over the secure logo in the address bar of https://twitter.com, it says 128bits... 1024bits, yet when I click, I see 256bits... 2048bits instead.

Max IllisDraki Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:23:16 PM

That seems to work - disable EcmaScriptJIT, diable javascript in site preferences and then reenable EcmaScriptJIT

not pretty though and somewhat limiting

Jesus Anderssonslartibart Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:23:32 PM

A bug introduced in 8366 cause Opera to crash very badly (happens random during usage) causing it to trash the disk, and if I don't kill it immediately it will freeze the entire system with disk trashing. I'm sorry I can't give a more accurate description, but the last 3 times I've had to hard reset my Mac because it became completely unresponsive. I'm actually a bit impressed as it is the first time I've ever seen any application capable of crashing this hard. Combined with a few GUI regressions (notification messages unresponsive, popups sometimes unresponsive), the long standing mouse rocker gesture bug and a recent tendency of munching huge amounts of memory (just noticed it in build 8366) I think I've had enough alpha testing for now.

Give me a shout when it's done.

DSK-292664 «No referrer logged when opening links through the context menu or the mouse wheel (open, open a new tab, etc.).», appeared in 10.5, still not fixed. Pity. sad

erupt Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:32:40 PM

I have found a problem with Shockwave - instead of starting this game: http://www.neopets.com/games/play.phtml?game_id=480

Opera opens the error console: http://files.myopera.com/erupt/files/1.png
The game is running fine on Chrome 5* and IE 8.

Shift+middle click and you can choose the behaviour.

BecDeXorbin Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:40:10 PM

Right click menu freezes gif animations and exiting the menu makes animations to judder for few seconds.

I guess you'd rather 'disabled' this plugin for Opera via plugin-ignore.ini

lucid x64 flash rc7. bbc crash , previous build too. you tube no fullscreen video.

deus-ex Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:54:04 PM

The content of most of my mails is not displayed anymore with this build, instead the word "mail body" is shown. This issue appeared with release v10.60.3402.

Again I downgraded back to v10.60.3400, and all mail is correctly displayed again. I'm using Windows7 Pro 64-bit.

Best regards

On Mac, clicking "Open in background tab" opens the link with the new tab focused!!!

Same speed issue with wikipedia pages as before (eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Leno takes 20 seconds to load!!)

Divjot Singhbogas04 Tuesday, June 8, 2010 5:39:23 PM

Middle Clicking links open next to active tab and not in last

The only thing that is bugging me!

What does the following fix mean? Is there a way to set the icon of a bookmark manually?

Fixed DSK-291817 (Opera does not prefetch icons for bookmarks from the custom/ folder)
