Opera Desktop Team

HTML5-enhanced 10.60 Beta is coming!

, ,

This is a release candidate for the public beta of Opera 10.60.

In the previous snapshot, we added several new features related to HTML5 and other open web standards. As many of you know, the HTML5 project started long ago here at Opera, and we are dedicated to fully supporting HTML5 and the latest in other open web standards, such as SVG and CSS. Opera 10.60 will be another step in that direction.

Now we'd like to give even more people the opportunity to test-drive the next Opera release, and like other betas, this one will be made available to a wider audience through www.opera.com. We really appreciate your help in getting this beta out there!

Note: If you are having problems with Geolocation, you can try checking it in other browsers as well. If it fails there, the problem is likely to be on the Geolocation provider's end. This feature will work best on wireless connections.

What happens with Office WebApps?, they never finish loading and keep on 95%....
And they work on most browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari....
I have alredy reported this (DSK-301804)

BTW, DSK-301803 has been resolved.

MaximSailorMax Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:30:50 PM

I hope public beta will be without:

1. bug (DSK-302064) with hidden input fields over inline elements (checkboxes in gmail or radiobuttons in http://webanketa.com/forms/68t30e1f6ww62rsr6mw36/)

2. context menu of selected text starts with search-item. I don't know how under other OS, but under Windows it is very not regular... "Copy" was much better choise smile

GreLI Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:30:53 PM

Mail notification popup is still inaccessible (broken in previous build). Very annoying.

getnikkoo Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:32:37 PM

It looks that this doesn't work.

Juan Andreujandreu Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:33:12 PM

Searching with Google in the search bar doesn't show suggestions.

Witold Barylukmovax Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:34:39 PM

Suggestion bar in F2 (go to) dialog, doesn't work at all now.

Seldaek Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:35:47 PM

Can't you define your geolocation in the settings somewhere if you're on a wired connection but still want accuracy btw? If not, why not?

Hawk1902 Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:36:19 PM

Good !

It works only for Wikipedia and Yandex. Not a bug.

But, i would like to have some standard for this, so everyone can add sugesstion for their own search engine using some API. JSON or XML based? I would also like to have customizable amount (3, 5, 8, 10, 15). of suggestions (including 0 to disable it).

Are search suggestions going to be added for Google etc?

Very good idea!

Maybe this can be done using UserJS? By redefining geolocation methods?

It will be faster, and no external services will be used (as i do not like to have any my private information in hand of google).

Could you please fix the facebook tags (@name) popup not showing up? Not life-killing, but useful anyway p

Web Sockets are not in Opera yet. There was not even development build with it or even any statment about WebSockets from Opera Developers. Not bug.

I would much more like to define API or dataformat for this (preferable the same as is already used in Firefox, so site/search authors doesn't need to change much), so any user can add own suggestion mechanism.

I would also like to customize (change number of suggestion or disable it completly) current behaviour of Wikipedia search suggesstion.

Maybe ask site authors for checking what is wrong. It highly unprobably that opera developers would have any way to debug such big javascript application.

Witold Barylukmovax Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:50:12 PM

Hmm, i don't know

I think i always get "Copy". Linux i386.

As of selecting. After double clicking on text, one word is selected and context menu shows. Wasn't that if one will triple click then whole paragraph or line will be selected? Now it doens't work. sad

MyOpera team, please fix this!fearphage Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:54:38 PM

Here's a place to update the location of access points:

Witold Barylukmovax Tuesday, June 15, 2010 2:54:56 PM

Hmm, with plugins enabled (but with flash not installed) on http://rakaz.nl/, i can't click on links, even refreshing doesn't help. It happened also on previous build on some pages (i think this was becasue they used flash plugin), but mostly after refresh it worked. On http://rakaz.nl/ I found it always doesn't work. But if I disable plugins completly (using F12), then it works! Linux i386.

But is this the same DataBase as used by Opera and Google? I do not think so.

BTW. http://www.hostip.info/ Is also good open database but for IP addresses.

"This software includes SQLite 3.6.22" in opera:about twice used

I know you said you fixed the problem on google docs, but it's still not working here. The toolbar is still grayed out making it impossible to edit any document.

On the plus side, ThinkFree.com web-based word processor works like a charm with Opera, so there's one option for us.

I'm almost afraid to look, but has hostname completion finally been fixed so it works the way it did before 10.5?

We've certainly made enough noise about it...

New built-in fonts look terrible! Standard fonts looked better! ( on Windows )

Vi Bashbashvi Tuesday, June 15, 2010 3:20:17 PM

I love the advantages of the 10.5/10.6 series. But there is one thing that, in my opinion is much worse than before. The arrange/restore functionality of tabs.
First: Why don't they snap anymore? It makes it much more difficult to arrange two of them beside when they don't snap. It's also very difficult to place them directly on the browsers outline.
Second: in all 10.5/6 releases I've tried out, they only move very slowly and cinda "lagg" when being moved. That makes it even more difficult to arrange them. It's almost impossible to arrange two of them in a way that they perfectly cover each other.

System: Ubuntu 10.04 64bit

joonro Tuesday, June 15, 2010 3:22:56 PM

I don't know what happened to the CJK font, but Korean characters became ugly again. I tried adjust some font settings but no luck. This is strange since this had not happened for a long time and suddenly came back in the last snapshot.

Opera display the video, but I'm surprised with Midori (a lightweigth linux browser), It can work also in HTML5 test and have good results.

BTW.

Upgrading solve my IMAP bug, but I still missing my web pages using Aller font

HTML5 Video works, but the performance is terrible compared to Chromium. I hope you work on this :-)

But nevertheless, thanks for this build and your great work.

The 1st paragraph of this web-site is not shown properly can anyone confirm?
http://www.ekxe.gr/

Scroll down this web-site, it has too much blank space at the bottom.
http://www.formula1.com/default.html

And scribd doesn't working in this beta (rc????) too, example:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/14994003/It-1

Please fix those bugs.

Under Windows repeated clicking 5 times in direct repetition despite the popup popping up after the 3rd time does select the sentence, 2 more times (not counted exactly) the paragraph. May be under linux too? - but it is not nice that the default trippleclick doesn't do it.

poorrichard01 Tuesday, June 15, 2010 3:49:05 PM

Update to my earlier note: If I upgrade this snapshot over the previous one, Google docs still does not allow me to edit. But by doing a clean install into a new directory, Google Docs works.

yiafar Tuesday, June 15, 2010 3:54:24 PM

There is a serious problem with Google Analytics site, https://www.google.com/analytics/reporting
I cannot read the visitor's number of my site (there is a little pop up window when I put my mouse at mine site report).

And a second problem at blogger.com. When I add a banner at my blog using HTML/JavaScript I cannot increase or reduce the size of it using Rich Text.

Thanks.

It still works if you type / after the domain name. I think you made too much noise about it already. This is trivial stuff. Check the changelogs if you want to know if a bug you reported is fixed. If its not there, then its not fixed yet.

Confirmed, but this is probably a site problem not a bug. Report site problems in the Opera Browser forum. Read the sticky thread on how to do that.

Andrew Samandrewsam Tuesday, June 15, 2010 4:00:39 PM

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

videos on apple's site are not working for me somehow. (e.g. accessing this page http://www.apple.com/iphone/design/#design-video shows the download quicktime link and image) and it's not browser sniffing too. I've tried changing and masking as other browsers as well. in fact it's not been working for me through 10.5*, all the snapshots.

But the videos play in Firefox, Chromium, Rekonq, Midori, and Epiphany. Is there something wrong with my settings. Because I'm absolutely sure i've got the required gstreamer good plugin packages, not just because the other browsers are having them. And I've got mplayer, and vlc as well.

Here is my plugin path as configured in Opera. changing the order hasn't worked for me as well

/usr/lib/opera/plugins:/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins:/home/sam/.mozilla/plugins:/usr/lib/firefox/plugins:/home/sam/.mozilla:/usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins:/usr/lib/chromium-browser:/usr/lib/flashplugin-installer:/usr/share/doc/chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra:/usr/local/lib/opera/plugins

When i click check for new plugins, there is nothing detected.

Is there something I'm missing? or is this some kinda bug, if so, I can report it?

Tuttle Tuesday, June 15, 2010 4:04:37 PM

@Maxim Search-item in first position is ok (same in Safari 5) just use copy shortcuts.
--> Just a problem when double-clicking some text, we can't copy it while using Ctrl+C

cedricpc Tuesday, June 15, 2010 4:05:12 PM

Video tag is still not working on my computer (Win XP SP1 32 bits) since the previous snapshot – no problem with 3413 – with the same error (DSK-302249) :
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/1183/operawebmbug.png

I think that it is a showstopper for the beta because I am not the only one to encounter this problem.

abhitux Tuesday, June 15, 2010 4:08:29 PM

Congrats on a quick release. It shows that FINALLY you are working on the linux builds. Thank God.

My M2 Mail is still facing issues. The unread feeds are not highlighted in black but rather the new feeds appear as "read". Further, I am unable to empty the trash for my mail! Strange but true. I wonder whether anyone else is facing the same issue.

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx 32 bit.

Please please fix it up!

Volshebnyi Tuesday, June 15, 2010 4:10:10 PM

Geololocation is buggy.
Right now it shows that I'm about 2 km far from my location.
When i was tring it from my work, the mark on the map is about 60 km far away from me.
Chromium geolocation is working good, I'm in 100 meters from mark on the map.
