Opera 10.54 released for Mac and Windows
By Daniel Aleksandersendaniel. Monday, June 21, 2010 2:00:04 PM

There is nothing too exciting in the change log for Windows. But there are a few fixes in the Mac log that should interest some of you:
- Fixed various IME issues
- Fixed MacBook trackpad scrolling speed
- Fixed mouse gestures triggering context menus
- Fixed windows focus being stolen when displaying notification pop-ups
More changes are listed in the official change logs.

The auto updater didn't succeed for me. It claims to install 10.54 but in fact the .app isn't updated at all. Has anybody else problems with the updater on Mac and non-admin-users? (DSK ?)

Anyone else with this Problem? Has the background been removed?

Not fixed here.
Fixed in Opera 10.60 Beta though.

One resides in c:\programs\Opera10 and the other in
c:\programs\Opera10beta.
The one which is default is 10.53 in c:\programms\Opera10.
When I try to change to 10.54 it's the beta which is (up)dated...
Is their any possibility to prevent the "10.60 beta" of being downgraded???

This is much better than IE8 and Firefox 3.6x which both are assest with at least 1 attack vector existing when using these browsers.

Still some way to go with 10.6 so I think I will go back to 10.54

Under Mac, however, no performance improvement; still hogging memory and CPU like crazy; expanding memory usage upon the closing of tabs; and lots of other issues.
My Windows installation runs just fine, but the whole 10.5x branch for Mac is seriously, SERIOUSLY jinxed. :-/

When you run the installer, in the first dialogue, click the Option button at bottom left and check the target location is correct. Installers target the "most recent installation location", which may not be the default.Ledgem # Monday, June 21, 2010 10:06:58 PM

Confirmed. Opera shut down and the updater bounced in the dock, but I was never prompted to enter administrator credentials. The updater disappeared and Opera started back up. Version info is still 10.53.
For clarification, my user account is a standard user account, not an administrative one. I have the login and password for the administrator account, but the prompt never came up.
Will have to update manually, I suppose.

And international (guess it doesn't default to that with "local=y")

The 10.54 that was released now is just the 10.53 final code with a few security fixes added to it. The new work that you saw in the first 10.54 snapshots has been carried over in the 10.60 branch and is not part of this 10.54 release. If you install the latest 10.60 snapshots you'll keep the new background etc. And as mentioned in the comments here, the security issues have been fixed on the 10.60 branch as well.Lucalucaviozzi # Tuesday, June 22, 2010 9:26:31 AM

Still no fully active preview over Windows 7 thumbnails, "Tab title or location stay the same, over switching to another tab".
There is no browser that can do that except the FF 4 alpha.

I thought I would finally be able to ditch Safari and go back to Opera.
Alas, Opera still scrolls the page by integers of 20 pixels or so (with interpolated animation).
