More stability work

This build only has a few fixes, but one of them is one of the most frequently reported crashes. We're still interested in crash reports, though, so keep them coming!

WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features.

Problem with the new fraudulent site page btw. Hah... but I can't tell you what it was because I okayed it and now can't get back to the warning.

However below the block warning text there was a page not found warning.

Please try to be specific and to the point when reporting problems. "Displayed wrong" doesn't indicate the exact nature of the problem, which means that other people will have to guess what you are referring to.

Has anyone else had a problem with ALL plugins failing to be detected. I'm using AMD64 debian with KDE4 and no plugins are detected at all. Not 32 bit flash, not 64 bit gnash or gecko-mediaplayer. The plugin list is empty and opera:plugins reports none found. This has happened for all builds since 6378. I'm currently using 6374 because it's that last one that works. Before you ask, yes plugins are enabled globally and in per-site prefs. I've tried with a clean profile so that's not the problem. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem yet. I've reported it to the bug tracker as DSK-303383. Anyone confirm?

TealOne Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:03:10 PM

Opera still crashes (without crash-report dialog) here[1] when opening a PDF-file. On another system Opera crashes when going back (while viewing a PDF-file) or closing a PDF-file.

I've reported it several times over the bugtracker. However nothing happens. I really wonder: Am I the only one with this serious crash problem?

[1] I admit that I've here an very old PDF-Plugin - however IMHO either Opera shouldn't use it or shouldn't crash.

Xombiemubaidr Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:03:48 PM

yes Nice work!!! Keep going... Way too long for final release...
BTW I want 300/300 in html5 test... yes p

adze Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:05:20 PM

Also, do others still get the context menu appearing when holding down right mouse button and using scrollwheel to change tabs? I thought I saw this problem as being fixed but it still happens to me almost every time. Anyone confirm?

Александр Карпинскийhomm Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:06:17 PM

Please fix layout regression from version 10.5 DSK-301040!
It's add huge scrolling after page if footer have position: absolute; bottom: 0;

mrd Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:06:30 PM

I just stress tested Opera and it did pretty well but eventually keeled over.

I opened 180 of my bookmarks in one go and it coped admirably. Didn't even go "not responding".

I then opened another 120 and it went "not responding" came back for a while then when I used a mouse gesture to try and close the bookmarks manager it died.

I don't think it's entirely unreasonable though for the program to object to that kind of treatment. p

Danieledarklink88 Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:07:59 PM

I like the new design of the new warning page! very minimalist and clean like the whole design that you create with john hicks!

No. Sounds like you have a bad path, or your distro is naughty.

No.

mrd Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:10:52 PM

Just noticed that the way you do speed dial is to go widescreen if the browser window is resized to widescreen. Has that been there since the change was done? It's nice. Not losing vertical size if your window is narrow. up

What about plug-in crash. Like on NRK Nett-TV (using Mac OS X 10.6.4)

- think this is a known issue tho p

I also get randomly crashes everywhere not possible to reproduce. Like Opera had one tab, not active. Cmd+tabbed to Opera and opened ny tab with CMD+T, then opened first page in speed dial with cmd+1. Wanted new tab and did cmd+t => crash (did all this without waiting anything to load. Just cmd+tab(to opera), cmd+t, cmd+1, cmd+t in a row (I reported with the crash reporter)

Have you edited /usr/bin/opera or operapluginwrapper? I had this problem yesterday after I tried adding 'export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1' to operapluginwrapper.

Thx for the Wikipedia fix!

No crash with this version so far, but a Flash plugin loading e.g. a movie still blocks all(!) new tabs from loading any content here on XP.

Since the plug-in JavaEmbeddingPlugin97.bundle is not in the application any more (since Opera 10.6), JAVA on http://www.runescape.com/game.ws?j=1 doesn't work fine (there are lags when the background is in 3D).

Linux builds of 10.6 have buggy middle-click selection. That is, opera does not populate that middle-click buffer when you select some text. Please fix this, because this makes browser usage in Linux very inconvenient.

+1 Seems variable and can't spot any pattern to it. Usually (like now!) it works fine then it'll pick up part of a selection, other times you get odd bits of text, sometimes nothing at all. This is with KDE4 if relevant. Select, ^C and then ^V always works though.

So, DSK-299616 wil be never fixed?

seidenfaden Thursday, June 24, 2010 2:56:33 PM

Double clicking the window background no longer opens a new tab. (all 9.6x on ubuntu 9.10)

Login java applet on https://www.portalbank.dk/9388/ takes an eternity to load (up to 20 full animation cycles or 30-40 seconds)

Focus in form fields (perhaps java applet fields in particular) can be tricky: sometimes clicking them is not enough. You have to also minimize and restore/remaximize the window in order to type in the field. (This goes way back before 10.6x)

Signature password can only be entered in the dialog if opera itself is minimized. (This too is an old one). Ooops! This actually seems to be fixed? Nice.
