Unix fixes, stabillity, and more: Approaching 10.60 Final

We have a few more bug fixes for you to test during the weekend. Unix in particular has a decently size batch of new fixes in this build, but you will see that there are also cross-platform fixes. This includes work on Offline Applications, Geolocation, Widgets, and more.

Although we are not quite there yet, we are starting to close in on the final release of Opera 10.60 across all platforms, including Linux and FreeBSD. You can expect a few more fixes, and we will of course keep an eye out for new regressions and other serious issues.

Keep reporting those crashes, and let us know if you discover any new and serious bugs.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features.

Wow. Hopes deviantart.com is fixed.

Seems like this build is faster in Sunspider and V8 Benchmark.
Peacekeeper: ~same as previous.

Thanks for your work, again!

(almost got first)

Daniel Aleksandersendaniel Friday, June 25, 2010 4:42:03 PM

Yes, we are putting out builds at an incredible pace. So we need you guys to help us test these to make sure everything that worked in the previous builds still work. wink

Comments with "still" may be deleted if they don’t add anything new as the issue is most likely already known, and you are probably just complaining about the same issue over and over. rolleyes We hear you even though we don’t reply to everyone all the time.

Any chance a fix for printing and print preview on the Mac builds will be tackled before the final? At work I tend to print a lot of mailing labels, and hopefully to you all understandably I don't much fancy using an older build of Opera or another browser to print out labels. This has been a bug since alpha builds of Opera 10.5.

Also, I'm unsure where to report this or if it would be appropriate to send this information straight to David Storey, but UPS has started browser sniffing on its online mailing system. Masking as Firefox, logging out, and logging back in causes it to work, but it appears as if on the Mac PPC builds submitting the mailing label form causes Opera to crash. I haven't been able to crash Opera doing this on Intel, but it's happened a few times on PPC. It's not entirely consistent, and the form does submit properly before crashing. I can still go back in and try and print the label.

Lucalucaviozzi Friday, June 25, 2010 4:53:40 PM

Woah! Thx!!
Testing.

still there the bug of the search box in the speed dial that reappear after browser restart
but i think there was too short time from report to this build xD

BS-Harou Friday, June 25, 2010 4:58:01 PM

I installed Opera Voice plugin (and Opera is not crashing - hurray), but the "Voice" button is grayed out and any other function dependent on Opera Voice is not working sad

Anyone can help or confirm? Please!

Oh my god, thank you! Seems like a little thing but somehow it totally annoyed me.

Click any of the links on the grey table, and then scroll the drop-down list, does it show corruption? (it draws lines). If you scroll with the mousewheel the effect is more visible.

Videos at http://wp.tv/ don't work. The jingle plays, but the ad clip and the actual video fail to follow. Selecting videos from the playlist doesn't work either.

Works in Firefox.

nahtanoj999 Friday, June 25, 2010 5:06:34 PM

I have this issue on Windows that appears when I have a secondary monitor arranged to the left of my primary one and I have Opera on the secondary monitor. When my set-up is like this, if I press alt to open the Opera menu, it opens on the primary monitor instead. This does not seem to happen when the secondary monitor is to the right of the main one.

Still having problems with following site:

http://splintercell.onlinewelten.com/admin/action.php?action=user.login&sid=E359RCxEH-5GK06CFG515xYrIC1

when opening a picture to be displayed and afterwards trying to type in some text, Opera crashes...

With 10.54 final problem doesn't exist, because it's stable. Please try to fix that with 10.60 final.

Otherwise, you do great stuff dear Dev Team, keep on! smile

A lot of good things in these developments. Still some unresolved issues, of which the following are regressions (Win XP desktop):

1) When Opera is closed, link from email program or other non-bookmark app doesn't open the target page, only the user's home page (regression from 10.10 and earlier);

2) Print/Print Preview are broken and only nominally usable (regression from perhaps 10.50, more likely 10.10);

3) TitanTv.com type table does not appear correctly (regression from 10.53).

Java hasn't worked for me last builds. (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit) Tray icon appears (java) but doesn't show up.

This is amazing development speed, not seen anywhere else in the software World. At this speed you will make Opera the most advanced (read "Best") browser on Earth soon. Congratulations!

[Edit] Except for the strange build names LOL

Not much use complaining about bugs that are already known, all it does is clog up the comments section and make it harder to spot new complaints. In any case, if you have a bug to report, you should use the bug tracker.
http://snapshot.opera.com/faq.html#d18

Of course, it would help if the bug tracker were open to the public, but alas that is not the case.

Witold Barylukmovax Friday, June 25, 2010 5:40:25 PM

DSK-303368 (Menubar lost after maximize -> fullscreen -> maximize)
DSK-302078 (Wrong cursor displayed over Opera icon in system tray)
DSK-302744 (Window does not restore from fullscreen to maximised correctly)
DSK-302736 (Text cut off in the browser identification dropdown in Polish version)

Thanks you! Impressive change log.

Nice geolocation improvments. Please include (optional, disabled by default) "host" field which will tell us what DNS name is of website trying to perform geolocation (for. Google Provider it isn't needed, or even adviced, but for custom per-site provider can be really usefull).

Please take look also on my DSK with TOTALLY WRONG parsing of altitude/altitude_accuracy.

It is very sad that DSK-299616 will be not fixed in 10.60 Final sad
There are many sites which have AAAA record but can not be accessible via IPv6.

$ telnet ubuntu.ru 80
Trying 2001:780:0:25:206:5bff:fe04:8bcb...
telnet: connect to address 2001:780:0:25:206:5bff:fe04:8bcb: Connection refused

As you can see even telnet connects on IPv4 address if IPv6 connection not possible and other browsers do the same. Only Opera don't do this.

donny85 Friday, June 25, 2010 5:59:40 PM

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/ is still displayed wrong (without some css) in Opera. Can anyone confirm it please?

For example, Opera ignores the code:

ul.links li { display: inline; white-space: nowrap }

on html > body.bugzilla-gnome-org > div#header > ul.links > li

from the stylesheet /skins/standard/global.css

(thanx DragonFly)

Sorry you misunderstood me.
There is a 1-pixel gap between the first tab open and the address bar, the color of the sidebar does not suit well with the color of the first tab open, check the link for reference:
