Opera 10.60 goes final

, , , , ,

Opera 10.60 has been released today! Opera 10.60 is based on a brand new version of Opera's rendering engine, Presto 2.6.30 and includes support for several new web technologies, such as Geolocation, Web Workers and Offline Applications. In addition Opera 10.60 is the first final browser that has support for the high quality video format WebM.
During the development of Opera 10.60 we also focused on stability, performance and alignment of all platforms. 10.60 has notably improved Javascript and DOM performance, and since 10.54 almost a thousand bugs have been fixed. Unix users can now also enjoy a final version of Opera with the speed of the new Javascript engine Carakan, and other features that have been introduced in 10.50 and 10.60.

We'd like to thank everyone for testing the snapshots, reporting bugs, and giving us other feedback. Stay tuned on this blog for more Presto updates!

If I visit this site, a game called "Level-Up" is loading. A grey "Ready"-Button will appear and if I click it the Flixel-Logo and sound appears. The Opera crashes. Everytime.

Snoozler Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:03:59 AM

I don't understand why don't you make Beta builds automatically update to new snapshots, just like chrome beta, minefield (firefox)?!

Same here. A very repeatable crash.

onlsd Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:05:08 AM

Also, all speedial images are *blury* after refreshing them all (upgraded from 10.54 to 10.60)

missmeyet Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:05:45 AM

Congrats for the final!

Anybody already check out CPU and memory behaviour under Mac OS-X?

Those were a pain in the a.. in previous builds; can't test it myself right now, unfortunately.

Surfing with a local proxy (like GlimmerBlocker) seemed also to brain-fry Opera on a regular basis... If somebody uses that one, I'd love to read about how it works with the final.

John Doejohnsuperdoe Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:08:15 AM

when will the "open in background tab" context menu work again when right clicking on images? it stopped working with version 10 and i see nothing done, though it should be straightforward to fix... (i've reported this bug twice)

zoquete Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:09:39 AM

There is no msi installer http://www.opera.com/download. Is exe compatible with msi? I am asking for my friend who uses msi installer.

TA5K Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:10:13 AM

Congrats and nice work!!
Let's focus on all these minor bugs and hints, to get the most perfect browser in the world bigsmile

PS: I'll publish the next version of the Omelion Skin soon - with a new Tab feature smile

OperaDrBruce Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:10:14 AM

It's strange having final release, need new snapshot nao. lol

miki69 Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:10:15 AM

Thank you! This was the fastest release ever, and very stable even from Alpha version days. I'm quite amazed...

Cheers,
Miki

I've problem with Google Calendar when I edit the event. (the page is broken)
Idem with Google Docs when I see all the docs of my folders (the page has a wrong width)
sad

Fhury Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:14:15 AM

Is this the same as RC3? Is this version 3445?

onlsd Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:14:31 AM

How do you hide search bar in the speed dial in this version?

Lukaslksd Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:16:11 AM

Yatta !

Nisarg Kumar JhaNaturalDisaster Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:18:46 AM

What all changes have been done to the skinning engine? Can we now change the interface of the context menu?

It's great by the way that Bing search suggest are working

puTTy666 Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:23:49 AM

youtube html5 works like a charm

Georgeme4oslav Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:26:06 AM

And again language input issues on the final version for Linux, only latin works on Lucid x64 with GDM,with KDM everything works.
I have to start opera manually with:
/bin/sh -c "env LANG="bg_BG.UTF-8" /usr/bin/opera"
In order to be able to write in bulgarian(with cyrillic).
I created a shell script (opera-new) and placed it in /usr/bin in order to not write that long command,it conataines:
#!/bin/bash
env LANG="bg_BG.UTF-8" /usr/bin/opera
This is one hell of a bug, please fix it,i doubt that the users will be very keen on creating scripts just to be able to write with their own alphabet.

Trizenxxswampxx Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:26:49 AM

MAJOR BUG on mail.yahoo.com (yahoo mail classic)

Opera use processor for nothing!

See how is looking my processor usage after start opera: http://i45.tinypic.com/24vs4nr.png

0% - 100% - 0% - 100%, what's going on?

onlsd Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:33:02 AM

@Mark Gillespie:

Wow thanks, in previous versions I did it in opera:config.

Cheers smile

wojtzuch Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:36:33 AM

History navigation mode 3 is not working for me, even on this site. (I even restarted Opera after I had saved changes in opera:config.)

You said you had fixed broken cache in this mode, great, it was extremely annoying, but hey, did you do this by removing the mode or what?

onlsd Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:37:07 AM

Another note:

Tab previews are being 'cut off' again like they were in 10.1x
This was fixed in 10.5x only to return now in 10.6x.

Andrew G.consalt Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:37:44 AM

Google Calendar (edit task, edit settings etc...) doesn't work. sad((((((

I know I keep on about this, and I'll probably get banned for asking again, but are you ever going to give us the option to go back to pre-10.5 addressbar hostname completion ever again? Am I stuck using 10.10 forever?

Andrea4ndrea Thursday, July 1, 2010 8:50:25 AM

what a great job!!! thank you!

I've upgraded from a clean 10.54 profile (no test snapshots installed), and it doesn't happen to *all* sites. btw. using Opera standard skin too.

@Mark Gillespie: Can you test it on http://www.heraldsun.com.au/

Thanks.

Just add a slash for now.

Please compare with Opera 10.50 and Opera 10.10 before saying 'Only'. Also, scoring points is not a goal in itself, so you would be more constructive if you explained which new features you specically want/need/look forward to.
