Opera 10.60 goes final

, , , , ,

Opera 10.60 has been released today! Opera 10.60 is based on a brand new version of Opera's rendering engine, Presto 2.6.30 and includes support for several new web technologies, such as Geolocation, Web Workers and Offline Applications. In addition Opera 10.60 is the first final browser that has support for the high quality video format WebM.
During the development of Opera 10.60 we also focused on stability, performance and alignment of all platforms. 10.60 has notably improved Javascript and DOM performance, and since 10.54 almost a thousand bugs have been fixed. Unix users can now also enjoy a final version of Opera with the speed of the new Javascript engine Carakan, and other features that have been introduced in 10.50 and 10.60.

We'd like to thank everyone for testing the snapshots, reporting bugs, and giving us other feedback. Stay tuned on this blog for more Presto updates!

Opera have problems with gaining focus. When I click on tray and choose "read mail" then opera opens the proper tab but remains behind the application I was currently using.

Opera crashes on mediafire

Unconfirmed, XP SP3. Page loads fine, the silly little slide-up bar and all, downloading it opens a micro-sized pop-up, close that it shows the "Save" dialog. Side-Note though, perhaps download dialogs should override pages, because if you don't close that pop-up, Opera and it's automatic download initiation, means the file could download entirely with the user being un-aware (excluding the progress bar showing transfer)

weird, i tried it three times on my working personal directory and it crashed immediately upon loading the page. and when i opened it from another Opera instance running from a new directory it loads fine. what can cause this ? should it make difference if i cleaned the cache ? at least now it proved irrelevant for most users. platform: Ubuntu 10.04 / Gnome

UserJS or Flash would probably be the most likely.

If it reliably crashes (ie: always, or 80% of the time), then step through different options, disable plug-ins, disable JS, disable content blocker, etc...

If the page works, then start enabling each option one-by-one. If the page doesn't work after disabling all that, then try Opera-specific stuff, I doubt the cache would affect it, but worth a try, MIME types (Prefs - Advanced - Downloads) may be relevant, especially if it's crashing on download, not just when the page loads.

Further still, if it's still crashing, back-up your profile, and delete the userprefs file.

If none of this is getting anywhere, or possibly even before all that, you could try using IIXII.

On http://dlh.net/new/news.php I have the problem that on mouseover the font changes.

On http://gmx.net it is only possible to login to GMX Mail 2010 when I set individual Site Settings of service.gmx.net to mask as Internet Explorer. Then i see the surface of GMX Mail 2010 completely, but there is nothing "clickable". Is there any solution?

Using WinXP SP3

On certain pages, for example vBulletin forums with SEO urls, you need to click back button 2x or more times to go back (after visiting any subpage/thread). Can this be fixed? This is not from 10.60, it was like that before too.

@Topic:

Does someone has also the same problem as me with e-mails? If I like to check my e-mails I get every time an "Authentication Error". It doesn't matter which of the authentication things i choose, it doesn't work by everyone. In 10.50 it worked and in the snapshot before 10.60 also.

I'm really having trouble rendering youtube. look at this screenshot. With firefox no problem. sites with javascript like MySpace, hyves.nl, Google (translate) gmail, youtube and so on.. http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1990/schermafdrukyoutubeyout.png
I have re-install Opera with no result.

I'm STILL having major issues with 10.60.

Main one is that [Ctrl] [Tab] quits showing me windows when I use Ctrl Tab to switch between windows.

This problem shows up on 2 machines: one running XP Pro, the other running Windows 7 Pro.

The Win 7 install was done from scratch - no previous copy of Opera had been installed. It took a couple of hours to figure how to duplicate my preferred setup but I finally got it (or close enough that it doesn't matter).

But: just now, Ctrl Tab doesn't show windows anymore. The only way I've found to fix it is to close, then restart Opera.

Anyone else having a similar problem?

dafalias Saturday, July 10, 2010 6:54:45 PM

I just did a clean install of 10.60 Final, widgets are still not working.
For example, when first installed, multiweather is able to contact the server. After restart of the widget (not browser) it just loads indefinetely.
This problem persists for all widgets that do ajax requests with the exception of google translate.

Also there are two very annoying behaviours since 10.60, persisting in 10.70:

- Sometimes Opera just becomes unclickable. Any click anywhere doesn't do anything. I have to resize the browser to make it clickable again.

- Sometimes when I open a new page by mouse gesture the cursor is placed in the url field, if I start typing however, the key strokes are being accepted by the main window with sometimes extremely annoying effects.

SjaakADHDer Sunday, July 11, 2010 8:23:59 AM

@ dafalias,

I have the same problem. unclickable on site especially on youtube (with javasript). I can not use quote on this site. Please Opera solve this problem oterwise I stop using Opera after 8 years I can not work like this. I need to restart my browser over en over again to try if its gone. I have a clean install and remove all files and the problem is not solved.
Also the rendering of youtube its still there http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/1990/schermafdrukyoutubeyout.png
I have to restart the browser a couple of times to re-render the site again. Am I the only onbe with this problem? (linux-Opera) The unclickable problem is also with windows.

uid Monday, July 12, 2010 11:10:26 AM

This would be a great release, but, it seems, Opera ignores font settings (for example, it uses Arial for sans-serif font no matter what you actually set it to). Great work on speed improvements and all, but all those improvements are of no use if I can't read the page in the font I like. It's like a race car, but without brakes.
Thanks, but I'll wait for another version.

Why only 3 suggestions in the searchbar and adressbar?

qstorm11 Monday, July 19, 2010 7:04:02 PM

I agree with Andrew above. Tasks in Google Calendar do not work correctly. Have to use 10.50 to re-gain the functionality.

Also, why not post legacy Opera versions (at least a few versions) on the website.

This can also be found by clicking on Advanced at the http://www.opera.com/download/ page.

Thanks Eric. I downgraded to 10.54 but will watch for 10.6X and retry to see if bug is swatted.

Radoslav Schudichssuuddoo Friday, July 23, 2010 8:36:48 AM

as @dafalias & @ Sjaak

I too experience opera sometimes "unclickable" (it is page-independent, I experienced it already on writing email in opera-mail).
solution: I right-click or select text and than sometimes it does it. It is quite annoying, but won't keep me from using opera (makes a kind of "game" using opera) wink

plz. fix it.

Any ideas when the deadkeys are gonna be fixed? This is honestly driving me up a wall. I feel like deadkeys/compose/SCIM issues have been dogging opera for ages now. I had issues with the keyboard freezing years ago, and just decided to get used to that.. now I can't even type ' :/

I think it would be worth to test a new profile?

theriel Thursday, August 19, 2010 12:54:56 PM

This goes across multiple computers, multiple profiles. The most recent problem in the url bar/automatic search where you can only type one character is a new problem though, that opera didn't have previously.

alzurzin Tuesday, September 21, 2010 1:57:40 AM

Opera 10.62 is great, except iBus does not work with it. I get English only characters. No way to turn on the iBus and enter Chinese for example. What to do?
