Networking fixes

,

Tired of 10.60 already? You should not be! It is a great release. But if you’re up for it in the summer heat, we have a new build that needs testing. One of the fixes we hope will further improve stability on Mac.

We are very interested in crash logs from this build, so please don’t hold them back. wink

PS: The version number is now set to “10.70” to differentiate it from the 10.60 final.

PS2: It is definitely summer in Oslo! cool

WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features.

Can you further explain this? Are you (publicly) following a path to a 10.61 release, or are these already snapshots for an "Opera Next" (10.70/11.0) release?

Satan D. Lucifersupertrol Thursday, July 8, 2010 2:01:04 PM

10.6x is disbanded?

i kinda agree though 10.70 but why small changelogs?

What is posted on this blog may end up in a service/security release (10.6x) but everything is going in Next.

It is summer. People (even browser developers and testers) are on vacation. smile

Also, we want that crash fix properly tested to make sure it is solid!

It is usually the first report of that problem, or sometimes the report with the most precise analysis.

Can someone tell me please, if I open the Startup-page, why is the video not shown (a blanc area at the bottom of the page)? After a reload everything is fine...

P.S: the summer here in Germany is hot, but new builds are always welcome yes

Have start bar issue too.
Only way to (easy) repeat issue is to load opera with 30+ tabs session (have 25 tabs in my current session).
Miss start bar at old tabs (at tabs from loaded session), active tab for a moment of loading and new tabs have start bar.

At last new build!!!! Testing!!

Northgrove Thursday, July 8, 2010 3:02:57 PM

Interesting! smile A 10.70 hints of more major stuff forthcoming! And of course there'll be few changes in these early builds of a new branch... It's far from final. p People are all confused about the same thing in the Chrome dev blog for some reason.

Always nice to see Mac fixes! wink

I am not happy with Opera 10.60 due to its perfectly reproducible crash when editing 'new version' Google Documents, which is sadly an essential part of my work these days. This build still exhibits the same issue, which has already been reported as DSK-303229 and has been present since the last three or four 10.60 builds. Sadly, I cannot provide a stack trace because the crash does not trigger the usual Opera crash window that offers the option to report the crash. Also, if I run Opera under gdb and reproduce the crash, the last trace level has a NULL address, that seems to indicate some kind of stack corruption or other NULL dereference. Hope this helps.

MaxFragg Thursday, July 8, 2010 3:27:45 PM

@Jan De Luyck: works fine here (win7x64)

Daniel Aleksandersendaniel Thursday, July 8, 2010 3:35:50 PM

prd3 is absolutely right.

That said: everyone should be nice to each other. Even when commenting in a blog on the Web. Otherwise, you may find that your comments get deleted or your account temporarily suspended.

“Last few days” … it takes quite a bit longer to fix bugs. The bug have to be processed, analysed, and prioritized before a developer touches it. Things take time. coffee

There is a big problem with any sites using Fusion Charts
http://www.fusioncharts.com/ they are flash based & render very poorly with Opera but are fine on other browsers.
"Who uses FusionCharts?
Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Intel, IBM, Dell, HP, GE, Verizon, Ernst & Young, FedEx, American Bank, World Bank, American Express, Cisco, Oracle, DHL, JPMorgan Chase, AT&T Wireless Services, BT, Siemens, Bank of America, Pfizer, Comcast, McDonalds, Intuit, Saint-Gobain, Sony Music, Electronic Data Systems, Alexa, eHarmony, Expedia, Weather.com, Maxell Europe, HCR Manor Care, The University of Michigan, Community America Credit Union, Idaho Power Company, Davidson College, Infosys, Wipro, TCS and thousands more..."

http://www.fusioncharts.com/maps/GalleryMap.asp?mapName=Europe clicking on countries the popups are blank or very hard to read

http://www.fusioncharts.com/CaseStudies/ all the view links are rendered very poorly they open fine in other browsers

http://gs.statcounter.com/#browser-eu-weekly-201017-201026 the popups are very hard to read

Windows 7 64 bit

genegold Thursday, July 8, 2010 4:29:02 PM

This one definitely feels a bit faster on most sites.

I'm curious about the TitanTV.com cell elongation bug, DSK-300645, which first appeared with 10.54b. Is the source of the problem Opera or TitanTV?

Thanks but... How may I keep my preferences from 10.6 ? On mac intel platform. Each time I try to rename the Opera Preferences folder, Opera insists on renaming it back on its next launch...

Daniel HendrycksDanielHendrycks Thursday, July 8, 2010 5:39:48 PM

Should regressions from 10.10 be re-reported (via this blog, not through the bug wizard)?

(I'll be commenting full time, as often as a I did few months ago)

What window manager do you use?
E.g. I use Openbox and have focusing troubles. (To Opera insiders: DSK-304517.) Works perfectly in KDE's WM.
