10.61 Release Candidate (RC3)

, ,

Here is a further 10.61 release candidate. The changelog below reflects only changes since the last 10.61 release candidate (not since the last 10.70 build). So, let us know if you spot any regressions since 10.60 or 10.61 RC2.

And remember missing fixes/improvements from 10.70 are not regressions! idea

Thanks in advance for all your help testing!

Hm... why the last 10.70 build doesn't have these fixes???

ouzowtfouzoWTF Monday, August 9, 2010 2:53:03 PM

So these fixes are not implemented in the recent 10.70 snapshot, right?

confirmed - been having this problem too, but it's intermittent
Opera's 'save' dialog hangs explorer.exe forcing a kill & restart
surprised I haven't seen any other posts about this

It has some of these fixes (not all of them). The reason is that it was built before this build. A future 10.70 snapshot will include all of these fixes.

Just for a bit more clarity.

10.61 includes fixes that are very high priority. Additionally things that have been heavily tested and/or are unlikely to cause regressions (not impossible but unlikely). A 10.61 final is due out shortly.

The 10.70 snapshots are more "bleeding edge", with a lot more fixes and hence have a higher risk of introducing problems. This is ok because the branch currently called 10.70 is not due out until some time after 10.61, so if they are any problems with the fixes in 10.70 they are likely to be noticed in time and can be corrected.

Testing the 10.61RCs is lower risk but if you run 10.70 you will have slightly more interesting builds. Of course you can test both! wink

P.S. Future 10.70 builds will include everything from previous 10.61 and 10.70 builds. However if there was another 10.61 (quite possibly not since this is an RC), it would only include the fixes from this RC plus anything else we tested and prioritised.

1.There is a great problem with downloading files on some pages (CORE-31141 (Opera treats binary files as plain text (opening it in the browser instead of showing download dialog))).
It was fixed in 10.61 RC1, but again appeared in all next builds.

2.One more thing: quite slow flash on
http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html
it is perfectly smooth in other browsers, and CPU usage is a lot smaller, so I guess, something like hardware acceleration isn't working.

Данилоdan4ykO Monday, August 9, 2010 6:40:26 PM

Oh, and there is one more bug:
Enter http://www.nvidia.com/page/home.html
Press the right mouse button on the animation window and choose "Settings"
Now try to change the Flash player settings
The result is that Opera freezes and nothing works properly.

Thanks for improving Opera - yuo must be working all day to release builds so fast!!!

Shocked. Next build number after latest of 10.70, but this is 10.6x. :-)

I have a problem when debugging widgets with dragonfly. When I click on an element in the dom tree, it is selected and highlighted in the widget too(that´s ok). But when I want to select an element clicking in the widget, nothing happens or the whole widget is highlighted. This happens also in latest 10.70 build. Win XP SP3

******************

DSK-301119 (Regression of DSK-254388) is still unfixed.

It has been fixed in 10.5.0. It is there again definitely since 10.6.x, maybe already since 10.5.2 or 10.5.3 or 10.5.4.

Please fix it again. Since this bug has been (temporary) fixed in 10.5.0, it seems to be a regression bug!

This site still doesn't work. Has to do with some deep level Opera rendering issue. It does not work in Opera Mobile browsers either. Go to www.cars.com. Select any used car brand and model and enter a US zip code. Like 78249. The site will fail to load properly.

Same results on my Windows I tablet PC and MacBook Pro.

FernandoMoreira Monday, August 9, 2010 10:52:24 PM

the bug on the menu button seems to persist:
http://files.myopera.com/FernandoMoreira/files/opera-bug1.png

the problem is that the menu button goes over the firs tab, but most of the time it goes behind it getting completely unreachable.
I've made some experiences and I realized that this only happens when the Opera's window is not maximized and the option Wrap To Multiple Lines is activated in the Toolbar appearance menu.

Did some one had the same problem?

Daniel HendrycksDanielHendrycks Monday, August 9, 2010 11:35:22 PM

@sierkb
Quit posting the same bugs over and over again.

When the option "Mouse gesture" is DISABLED, there is bug with some Flash applications (ex. Bubble Island on Facebook). When clicking with right button of mouse in the Flash game, opens menu of Flash application. But if then press left button in the Flash game, browser goes to previous page and then tilt. This problem is very boring... Thank you.

All builds since 10.5 has been very, very unstable for me (malloc problem). When activating sync the CPU goes straight up (very high avarage), and with sync or not, memory is being eaten up. So for the time being Opera is all useless on my iMac at home sad

BTW! OS X 10.6.4 (Intel)

Also long time Opera user, since 1999

DSK-304517, Flash not receiving mouse release events when run under Openbox/Awesome (or KDE-kwin with 'focus follows mouse')...

OMG! THANK YOU! It was driving me insane! I didn't know what it was. So it was the Focus Follows Mouse thing!

It happened on Metacity too.

JanGen Tuesday, August 10, 2010 7:41:47 AM

Unfortunately 10.61 (Linux) is still hampered by a download/cache bug.
How to reproduce:
Try any binsearch page. Check a file and create/download nzb. Choose open with Gedit (or other). Uncheck and check other file. Create NZB, different name but Opera downloads and let Gedit open old file under old name.
When you save to file to disk there is no problem.
Same problem with on the fly created pdf files with dompdf. Change the html source, Opera downloads the old pdf instead of the new (opens with okular in my case).
This bug didn't exist in 10.11.
