Automatic update servers are DEAD whole day today.

Chiragchirag64 Thursday, August 12, 2010 2:32:41 PM

Since Opera 10.50, every build I've used is giving me this problem:

1. explorer.exe stops responding (that problem seems to finally be fixed in this version)

2. CPU temperature shoots up as soon as i start Opera (even when the CPU usage is well around normal)

Any ideas?!?!? sad

matee Thursday, August 12, 2010 2:41:39 PM

I installed it and sometimes it freezes after closing some tabs - the adress bar with all buttons on it freezes. Only restart can help. I had to install 10.7 and now it's ok.

kiaM Thursday, August 12, 2010 2:42:14 PM

Great! Thank you for your effort. Keep up the good work.

marbross Thursday, August 12, 2010 3:33:57 PM

Something wrong with your server beacuse your Opera website doesn't want to load. Anybady have the same problem as in my country (Polish)?

Thank

Arguggi Thursday, August 12, 2010 3:57:34 PM

Im having your same problem Marbross and I live in Italy, so it's probably an Opera server problem.

marbross Thursday, August 12, 2010 4:02:16 PM

Thank Argugg for response smile

Scott Viviansvivian Thursday, August 12, 2010 4:03:45 PM

@marbross: That looks like a serious bug that scrawls "look at this" across the page wink
The actual problem is the stylesheet isn't loading, looks like static.myopera.com is down.

Anyway, any news on the core bugs with tab switches freezing the page? I reported some issues ages ago with Gmail in Linux. Then it was just when frames are used, now it's all form input fields and it happens cross-platform too. Still in 10.61 Windows.

The latest one I submitted is DSK-290860.

Necroman Thursday, August 12, 2010 4:34:35 PM

Great news smile
But still, diffs on code.google.com are still broken. Please fix this somehow...
For example: http://code.google.com/p/moq/source/diff?spec=svn741&r=741&format=side&path=/trunk/UnitTests/Moq.Tests.csproj

Will Vega in Opera 10.70 support hardware acceleration like IE9 alpha and Fx4 beta do?

It is compulsory if the speed crown is to be kept.

Laurentlsaplai Thursday, August 12, 2010 5:12:42 PM

Haven't tried this version yet but I can confirm the forum display issue in Opera Mini: no style sheet.

Why does it always take so long to put updates on http://deb.opera.com/opera/?

What is the reason for security updates, if you don't get the immediately. What is the problem of putting the same files you already offer for download, on this server? Why doesn't your regular release process cover this automatically.

PraetorianX Thursday, August 12, 2010 5:37:19 PM

Blog seems back to normal now.
Great job on the 10.61 release, in the middle of August no less. up

It worked fine and fast, all old settings are not gone wink

In print preview page does not scroll to the end. On this issue I quote from the very beginning Release 10.5. Pages printed correctly are not shown.

Eugenesie65 Thursday, August 12, 2010 6:37:18 PM

Because of a construction work accident, My Opera is currently experiencing technical difficulties

Seems to be that little bit more than just my.opera was down, see connection problems above and below ...

Thanks for the bugfixrelease.

Please don't confuse the users with version numbers.

Why not posting all the changelog link, instead of only windows? At first I thought that you're again starting desynchronizing releases between different platforms ;]

Still crashes, and crashes. CPU goes straight uo over the roof (when sync is enabled) and memory is eaten up by nothing. Leave Opera runing and it consumes ALL available memory then it just shuts down/quits (malloc problem). Still useless for me. If I had been a first time user of Opera and it had crashed two-three times in twenty minutes I would never have used it again. Luckily I'm an old Opera user/fan so I'm sticking with it in hope that what I experience will be fixed (soon!).

BTW! The sad thing is that yesterday I convinced a co-worker of mine to start using Opera, even though it won't work for me!

Thanks! sherlock

Is color profile management in the works for Opera 10.7? Firefox and Safari have had the support for several years ... its very important to many web developers, photographers, and designers! Thanks!

I have been using the "report site problem" dialog to report site specific problems. Is this a good/preferred method to report problems on a snapshot build. I thought it would provide you with better background info.

Mimi's Mum (MM)mimi_s_mum Friday, August 13, 2010 12:16:06 AM

Thanks for your hard work, team. smile

We will likely continue with a double set of "snapshots" here on the desktop team.

Darn! I've just removed Program Files\Opera Test Build 2 I was using to test 10.61 builds!

By the way, there's a bug with autopudating. International version was installed over English only version. Reported as DSK-310038

http://www.leagueoflegends.com/items

While trying to filter items page stops responding opera locks up for a bit and is usable but the page is completely frozen. I close the tab and all returns to normal.
This also happens on version 10.70 for me.

Can anybody confirm this???

Since about 9.27 it seems to me like Opera have been more concerned with making things pretty than making things work. I wish that Opera devs would concentrate on fixing more bugs rather than introducing new features. I've reported many bugs and there are some that have existed for over a year now which still haven't been fixed. Hey, I'm all for new features (even though I never use Unite, Opera mail, Turbo, chat, and there are basically no sites that use html5, css3, etc), but if the basics of a browser are rather buggy, I would much prefer that the bugs be fixed first and then move on to new features. I really hope that in the future devs take about 4-5 releases to simply fix bugs - bugs which have existed for a long time, newer bugs or regressions and only when all the bugs have been fixed, move on to start optimizing for new web technologies.

I agree totally, there are a lot of things that just don't work a lot of the time, then I am forced to go to another browser. I hate that. I love opera and wish it was all I needed to browse the web, but that is not the case. I reported a bug about 3-4 patches ago seems like a silly bug but still there. You open a note file make a note linked to no website then try to open it and it just opens and closes a new tab endlessly and are forced to shutdown opera. I know it's probably insignificant, but just makes the browser seem cheap. That said I love opera and hope ONE DAY it will be the only browser I need, until then there is FF and Chrome.
