10.62 Release Candidate

, ,

It is about time for an update to our stable branch and hence we have a nice new 10.62 build for you. The fixes listed below are since the 10.61 final.

Since this is a release candidate please let us know if you see any regressions since 10.61 and remember fixes to 10.70 that are missing are not regressions! wink

Note: These packages have the old non-unified build numbers. However, 10.70 and above will continue to have unified build numbers. Also because this is the 10.6x line we still have PowerPC.

Opera still displays the bad fonts under linux :/ No one sees?

Since version 10.5x, nothing has changed.

Linux is not just KDE or GNOME. Amend it! Opera needs to use the system settings!

Artur „Jurgi” JurgawkaJurgi Friday, September 3, 2010 9:46:52 AM

I hope the crash on blox.pl blogs with content filtering (DSK-310142) will be fixed too? I'm awaiting stable.

See http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2007/01/08/handling-security (there's a link to it on the sidebar to the right)

Any security fixes are usually not announced until they are released in a stable release build.

I have Ubuntu 10.04 GNOME and Opera looks nice. Are you sure that you installed all necessary fonts? After install Ubuntu Opera looks ugly but after install metapackage ubuntu-restricted-extras Opera looks nice with normal fonts. I hope this package helps you wink

Под последним 70 билдом невозможно в инете находится - весь разваливается, постоянные краши и ляпы, а им не хватает багов. Я в шоке!!! sad(

FWIW, I'm using 10.70 under KDE (everyday) and XFCE (infrequently) and most fonts are fine.

PS: Sorry for russian smile Vovan understand what I mean wink

The later one is the stable-dev-branch for 10.62 and the first one is the unstable-dev-branch snapshot for 10.70... they are not related.

Same issues like I posted with latest 10.70 weekly build:

1) Browsing Google Code Changes when expanding diffs for particular files is broken somehow Represented by huge gaps/margin between lines and also padding inside of them.

Example: http://code.google.com/p/miranda/source/detail?r=12543

Noticed on this build, Mac (Intel) build
Works fine in Opera 10.10

Should look like here: http://i33.tinypic.com/24ozpyw.png

2) Some Facebook popups should have rounded corners, dunno what's wrong. Should look like this: http://i38.tinypic.com/2zp4kdg.png

3) Tiny difference on Twitter login popup under Sign in button, having some kind of gap between button and the popup with Opera, probably it should look like this: http://i38.tinypic.com/17sl1y.png

4) Curious gap in sidebar when disabling Statusbar (Both Mac native and Opera Standard skin): http://i35.tinypic.com/qx3x2b.png

jpalecek Friday, September 3, 2010 12:15:01 PM

I can't change tags on a stackoverflow.com question with this build (the Save Edits button just grays out) - anybody having the same problems? Same behaviour in latest 10.70 builds.

Am I the only one where copy paste from and to opera does not work well. I' m using freebsd.

Luchio Friday, September 3, 2010 1:06:40 PM

mailproviders: I still wonder why Yandex and hotmail.co.uk, and not GMail? I know there are workarounds, but gmail is used by a good percentage of people, why not provide it by default? Is it a matter of money?

Same here since I've been using 10.5/6/7 builds -- selecting text to store it in selection buffer sometimes works, sometimes not -- can't spot any pattarn there, even. At least "normal" Ctrl+C/X/V works fine for me. (Kubuntu 8.04, KDE3, Opera fooled to believe it's running under GNOME to get nicer menus and dialogs than those plain-X ones.)

We know the pattern (it is related to JavaScript on the page). We have a potential fix that is still being tested. Hopefully we'll get it out soon.

Though I think that Opera is still the best browser, but now its stability is not as strong as it once used to be. All builds since version 9 had more features and more bugs at the same time.
New features are very important, however bug-fixes are even more important. For some time, you developers should focus solely on bug-fixing.
Think about it. http://files.myopera.com/hundredorzero/Smilies/Favorite/likeopera_man.gif -

This build is all bug fixing, there's no new stuff in it.

Note the difference between 'mailproviders.xml' and 'webmailproviders.ini'. The latter is about webapps to associate with mailto-links, and there are no changes there. The former is about prefilling server information when setting up a new mail account in Opera Mail.

Maybe that's a workable workaround but it is no solution to the real bug. A user cannot be expected to know how to solve this problem (especially because "urlfilter.ini" doesn't at all sound like "Blocked Content".

Sounds like a firewall getting in the way. Did you install it over 10.61?
