10.62 Release Candidate 2

, ,

Here is our second 10.62 Release Candidate. Just a few small tweaks to get 10.62 ready for final. Let us know if you see any regressions since 10.61. For those wondering about 10.70, we will try to get an interesting new build out to you soon.

Note: These packages have the old non-unified build numbers. However, 10.70 and above will continue to have unified build numbers. Also because this is the 10.6x line we still have PowerPC.

Thanks for this build. I upgraded from 10.10 (the last usable version on OS X 10.4.11) but there seem to be a number of regressions:
- Green backgrounds with Flash content (see here).
- Weird behaviour with scrolling when viewing a PDF in SchubertIT PDFViewer plugin: the bottom 4 cm does not scroll
- No indication of unread messages in Feeds menu
- Adobe Flash plugin (e.g. Youtube videos, Viddler) does not receive mouse clicks (ctrl-click does seem to work).

Can anyone confirm?

you didn't state what the problem really is, but you should check you're browser.js http://www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/

FavDjiXas Tuesday, September 7, 2010 11:03:59 AM

Opera often crashes for me when opening audio files with Winamp via transfers window, I click enter, Opera crashed and Winamp opens.

This is the first build for 10.6 that is actually usable on my PowerBook G3 (PPC) running 10.4.11. I guess I was being hit by 2 bugs; one was the slow/laggy typing bug fixed in the last build, the other was the slow typing with many bookmarks (I have over 500). I started with a fresh installation, imported my bookmarks, and aside from a short (maybe 1-2 second) delay at the start of typing, typing has lost virtually all its annoyances. I can finally actually use Opera 10.6!

Thanks to the devs...

When going back with mouse gesture, often links become not clickable.
In previous build it says that it was fixed but glitch still persists.

Okay, I found it. What is the problem? It seems to work here.

youngjr Tuesday, September 7, 2010 2:46:14 PM

Thanks for a new build.

Windows 7 x64
1. Uninstall 10.70 build 9036. (keep user settings)
2. Install 10.62 build 3500
3. Cannot connect internet.

I reinstalled 10.70 build 3488 (because the build 9036 crashes frequently),
and network connection is okay.

Problem with the start bar is... that after restarting opera, the tabs - save for the active one- show it as blank.

This is a known bug as far as I know, and an old one. I was under the impression that it was fixed at some point. But apparently not.

I don't even use the start bar, but I can confirm the bug in Win 7 x64 and Win 2003 Server.

alf245 Tuesday, September 7, 2010 2:46:38 PM

[Regression from 10.60]
Opera 10.6x on AMD64 Linux doesn't like my "bookmarks.adr".
It crashes immediately when clicking on "Bookmarks" in the menu bar.
This bug has been introduced in 10.61-6430.
10.61-6422 is the last working build without this bug.
Luckily all 10.7x builds work fine with the same "bookmarks.adr".

AvWork Tuesday, September 7, 2010 3:15:58 PM

I use the Start Bar constantly in conjunction my company's ticketing system.

It also fails to display for any tab opened in the background which really interrupts my work flow.

I know this is a known issue but it's been submitted so many times I'm not sure which DSK is being used to track it officially.

What about DSK-311609? Does anyone else have this problem on openSUSE 11.3?

fastfoxy Tuesday, September 7, 2010 4:56:18 PM

Hey is there a special hidden setting (like so many of the "secret non user friendly" ones) in opera config that will allow HTML5 to work on http://www.google.com/ start page?

It does not work in Opera....

Heinrich_Hansen Tuesday, September 7, 2010 5:08:07 PM

HTML5 on google.com works fine if identify as firefox is selected. So blame google.

So how do I "identify as firefox". Its not in any of the menu items that I can see. I dont see a button that does this on any of the various bars or docks.

PraetorianX Tuesday, September 7, 2010 5:33:32 PM

Identify as firefox:
Right click -> "Edit site preferences..." -> "Network" -> "Identify as Firefox" -> Ok. And refresh.

Hey that works, thank you PraetorianX for your instructions. So is that a "global setting", will all pages now be identified as Firefox? I tried another page, but its still Opera.

Since there are many pages that do not work properly in Opera, is there a way to set Opera to "identify as Firefox" as a standard setting for each and every tab and window?

Tiago Joao Silvatigas Tuesday, September 7, 2010 5:51:50 PM

If you do that, your browsing will be listed in the statistics as being a Firefox user and Opera's apparent marketshare will be smaller.

If you really want to do it eek, right-click in the status bar, select "Customize", "Appearance", select the "Buttons" tab, select the "Preferences" category on the left side, and drag the dropdown "Identify as Opera" to the status bar. Hit OK and select interactively how Opera should present itself to websites.

Speed dial thumbnail doesn't show background images 1264px wide or larger on 16:10 display (1920x1200) [win7x64].

Also, scrolling position of current tab is not remembered after opera is restarted.

andrewzandrewz1986 Tuesday, September 7, 2010 7:38:57 PM

No progress here in XP. Google Calendar is still broken as I wrote previously.

I can't get to my home page from speed dial by double-clicking somewhere on "background" as I was used to before 10.5 was released.

When I use more than one Opera window, I can't move the tabs among these windows as I was used to before 10.5 was released.

Cosmetic changes shouldn't broke functions in my opinion... :-(

one other problem
on this website the image don't load

not possible to download the file

the problem whit flash games from hi5 don't load the games
www.hi5.com

falken0905 Tuesday, September 7, 2010 8:23:42 PM

It -still- does not display motion "server push" webcam images.
Example: http://networx-corp.com/webcam/cam3.html or select the cam menu and any of the "server push" cams. This has been broken since v10.10 which I am still using since I view these cams frequently. I've submitted a bug report (DSK-286786) on this long ago and complained here a couple times. Can it be so hard to fix this?
I've been a happy Opera user since the old days when you had to pay for it (imagine that kids, pay for a browser). This one little thing will likely cause me to eventually jump ship for Firefox (which works for these cams).

PengePenge4 Tuesday, September 7, 2010 8:57:48 PM

There is no bottom of the page: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/reference.html

(I don't know this regression or not).
