You better watch out, you better not cry (11 RC2)

,

We're busier than Santa's little helpers here, wrapping up the last fixes for the Opera 11 release. What did you say?? No, we don't have to wear elf costumes. Get that image out of your head. wink

Most fixes in this snapshot are related to tabstacking. I think you will notice great improvement, so go ahead and stack away.

Note: As this is a Release Candidate, the installation folder will default to the latest stable installation folder.

You really have to try not to be so vague.

Asires Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:23:01 AM

Too much bigsmile
It will be earlier than 24?

Annoying DSK-322220 must be fixed.

And how about broken gestures? You seriously leave it in the final?

Oh yeah, Opera 11 final meets broken gestures. Very unserious guys.

How many hours remain to release? bigsmile

So, a few builds ago I reported a problem with the installer. Now I know the reason: If you choose to install an USB-version of Opera you can't upgrade an existing USB-installation, except you start the installer with "run as admin". Reason: When you don't start the setup with "run as admin" the "shield" aside of "accept and install" will disappear when you choose the USB-installation option. That produces an error and you can't update an USB-installation. That should be fixed.

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums is unusable - I cannot log in at all. After I try to sign in, it gives me "You are not yet signed in. You need to be signed in with a forums profile to contribute. Continue..." Site preferences should be default, at least "Accept all cookies" and "Identify as Opera" are set.

Wouldn't that depend on where you install it?

(of course it'd still need a fix to inform you of this or some such)

I still have the problem that some sites show no background color?

mhanor Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:42:33 AM

Please, can someone tell me what's the state of DSK-296834? Is it closed? Am I just spamming its e-mail box? Please tell me, so I can just give it a rest.

Kristoffer Nes Langemyhrlangemyh Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:44:14 AM

The cmd-n or File -> New windows still doesn't work when all tabs are closed on Mac OSX 10.6.5

sabisan Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:45:30 AM

Testing up

EDIT: Tab-stacking:

1) Mouse-hover over the tab-stack
2) Tabs-list of tabs is shown as usually
3) Mouse-hover the list but don't do anything
4) Mouse-out of the list
5) And here is the problem. It seems that tabs-list is dissapearing (as it should after few moments if you don't do anything) "inconsistently". Sometimes it does dissapear and sometimes not

dezter Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:52:16 AM

Search form in "Speed Dial" is unusable when (speed dial size is Large and above) AND (Start Bar is ON).
Start Bar overlap search form.
Standard skin at 1280x1024.

Mika Takalamtakala Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:52:16 AM

I get "Error initializing Opera: module 10" when I try to upgrade from previous build with Opera still running. This is on Windows 7 64bit, UAC disabled, account has admin priviledges.

I don't know if this is a general issue or specific to this build only.

edit: It does it even if I right click the exe and "run as admin".

Sasquatch Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:52:47 AM

I haven't had time to test the previous one. I'm still on build 1133 at work! This is going fast, I like the improvements (from what I see in the changelog). Just hope that 'tumbnailed' images will be smooth again (big image appearing smaller using a size specification), closing Opera doesn't cause a crash and moving between tabs being perfect (should be fine now according to the changelog).

sabio Wednesday, December 15, 2010 10:54:06 AM

The comment regarding the windows installer I've just posted to the previous build topic is still valid for this build.

Here is the link to avoid it getting lost:

BUG:
I have the same bug, very, very often: rules in content blocker aren't applied on first page load (must reload page).
Developers rush to final build of 11, so they don't like reminding them of this bug ;P

BUG:
Extensions are updated automatically but skins NOT. Users will be confused why they must manually install every time new versions of skins etc.
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST IT'S A BUG! p

BUG:
Big pictures on Allegro.pl auctions aren't load on first page load, example page:
http://allegro.pl/need-for-speed-shift-xbox-360-i1365585880.html
This auction system is most popular system in central and west Europe!

BUG:
Installer of Polish version, text is cut:

BUG:
Often when i press backward/forward button nothing happens, must press second time and it always works then - takes me back or forward pages in navigation history.

BUG:
My Opera very heavy usage crash test:
1. Open over 50+ pages
2. Opera reaches now over 1,2GB of RAM and crashes without option to send logs:

But its better than in previous builds when it reached to 900MB-1GB of RAM and crash.

I can't reproduce this crash by open these pages one by one and close them. So i think that that crash isn't caused by some of that page.

BUG:
I have moved some of important configuration files to diffrent folder than default, like files:
notes.adr, bookmarks.adr, wand.dat, override.ini, speeddial.ini, urlfilter.ini
so its now easy for my to make backup for them.
But now i see that Oppera creates some tmp files in this folder like: opr2B23.tmp, oprD3E1.tmp...
"Opera Hotlist version 2.0
Options: encoding = utf8, version=3"
Is this normal?

Windows 7 32bit

problem with installer under windows:
region - Russia => installer is russian.

steps:
1. click on "Options"
2. change language on "English" (installer don't remember my language from my last installation, but remember install path...)

problem:
some labels now in english, some in russian ("Благодарим за загрузку", "Условия использования", "install for"-help)

[Mac] Is the pure gray speeddail background intended?
[Translation] Will you provide are shorter German address bar badge for trusted sites? I've proposed to use "geprüft" instead of "vertrauenswürdig" before. In my opinion this term is more accurate too.

SteveKong Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:07:41 AM

[Mac] And how about the the missing margin between a tab stack and a tab on its right side?

Grasli Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:09:03 AM

When Opera is in maximized mode (therefore tabs on the very top of the screen), the top of stacks is still not visible for me (since build 1145). I can only see the side of the stacks, not the top. In visual tabs its the same, with both top and bottom (which overlaps with the address-bar border).

This makes it a bit confusing as its not easy to see whether a tab is a stack or not.. wink

"geprüft" is not more accurate than "vertrauenswürdig"! Its completely different. All domains/connections are "geprüft", but then the browser decides how secure it really is.

Mod edit: Please do not multipost.

janaco Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:16:15 AM

The DSK-322060 and DSK-322199 are getting worse. Now when doing as described in this post both, the Addressfield of *both* Tabs is shrinking.

Should this be reported as seperate bug?

And: when opening Background-Tab from within the last tab in a group, the new tab is placed outside the stack.

OlegYch Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:16:21 AM

Memory usage is still way to high.
I remember several builds ago it suddenly increased from 300m to 1100m.
Right now opera uses about 700m or ram.
Maybe that was some tab I opened and haven't yet closed...
I have about 30 tabs opened most of the time.
Will try to bisect which one is causing the problem, but maybe developers are already aware of such a problem?

mixal11 Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:17:39 AM

Maybe an impression but it seems to me that allocated memory for the same session at start is almost 20% higher than 11 RC1.

But overall, last few build are less memory hungry than previous version of opera ( 10.5..)

Serpher Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:18:17 AM

Sweet!

I do not agree. As far as I know, a connection is considered secure (sicher) if it is "strong enough" encrypted, and trusted if is secure and the servers certificate ownership has been successfully checked (geprüft). Therefore I suggest "geprüft".
Please correct me if I am mistaken.

1) Copy link to clipboard
2) Pres Ctrl+T for open new Tab
3) Pres Ctrl+Shift+V for add link to address bar and go.
After that, open a new, different tab.

Bug??!!

Vladimir PanteleevTheCyberShadow Wednesday, December 15, 2010 11:29:12 AM

Installer doesn't switch language of all UI elements:

http://dump.thecybershadow.net/20ac3ba7a0839137442e3a0df9d6798b/opera-installer-language.png

Also, it keeps defaulting to Russian every time, even though I always installed Opera in English, older installers didn't do that.
