bentronic Thursday, December 16, 2010 7:44:44 AM

Opera 11 is great! I am wondering, though—what does the future for tab stacking look like? Is the functionality set, or could it change?

There are various UI changes, or at least options, that would be really helpful, like having the stack open/close button on the left, and the tab that is dropped onto gets/retains focus (rather than the tab being dropped), context menu items (or actions that custom menus can use), etc.

Basically, is it worthwhile bringing these issues up on the wishlist forum, or has that time passed?

jclins Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:00:23 AM

this is a fantastic release. i'm still new to the whole tab stacking. i just discovered tab pinning. :O

anyway, looks like this release fixes the newegg navigation popup. bigsmile

it seems like web sites are loading faster with this build as well. ;p

MaximSailorMax Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:05:56 AM

bug DSK-322207 still present for "help"-icon of "install for"-field (changed from russian to english)

koimark Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:07:56 AM

I missed RC3 - so I haven't look at those comments. But for me update utility of Opera has some problems. It generated(!) new profile folder (Win 7 64-bit)
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera\CProgram Files (x86)Opera
and used that after update.
But after restart it worked and use normal folder:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera\

Kaffeesegler Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:13:08 AM

Found out what caused problems on Macs with IPv6 pages like www.heise.de: installing new builds/betas sometimes leaves other preferences from further installations. Those have to be identified and deleted carefully ...

wheany Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:22:51 AM

Is there any plans of re-enabling remembering visited links across sessions. I hate it when Opera crashes and all the links on a page revert to "unvisited" state.

₣ıđø Ðıđø™faridfox Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:23:39 AM

awesome!

散人peakgg Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:25:08 AM

two issues are still there about sortcuts with linux: 1. ibus didn't turn off when there is no input focus, it will capture the sortcut first. 2. combined sortcut still not supported in V11, which means I can not use vimperopera.
Hope that you can fix them in next version.

MaximSailorMax Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:25:46 AM

to developers: Can you explain to people why you changed mouse gestures sensitivity? Don't saw any comments from you. And do you plan return sensitivity back? As you can see, many people, who use this feature, are not glad this change sad

thank you.

Ke11ett Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:26:01 AM

When running through a proxy, external sites don't work until I refresh the page. Sometimes that won't load the CSS so I need to refresh twice to get a usable page.

Intranet sites works fine though.

Michael PetrushinFifonik Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:29:26 AM

"Awesome". The release is "buggy" again (well, at least stability is great). Can't use it because the mouse gestures are still broken sad

kiaM Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:30:09 AM

Thank you for the good work!

Stanleyfreerider Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:30:25 AM

Finally, let enjoy the new opera.

Keep going...

(and...Fix bug lol)

BojanKerkez Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:34:07 AM

Does making this an official release mean that we won't be able to resize elements in the address bar anymore?
I thought being able to make the search field wider was a great UI feature and now that addresses are automatically shortened, it makes more sense than ever. So seeing it gone, in my view, is definitely a step back from previous version.

random414 Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:37:00 AM

Congrats! Great job as always! yes

btyop Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:43:47 AM

eliotcougar Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:44:38 AM

Opera is the browser on the cutting edge of technology... So, it will always be Work-in-Progress no matter alpha, beta, RC or Final...

It's not the IE which is meant for corporation environment where you can be sued for every bug in the final product you are paid for...

I think Opera will always be the very best browser for geeks...

Mithrill Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:44:40 AM

party Awesome !

Abhinavdecodedthought Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:46:31 AM

"when users open pages from the same site, Opera 11 will automatically create a stack"
this doesn't seem to work for me .

miki69 Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:48:35 AM

thank you very much... simply amazing work!

eehsun Thursday, December 16, 2010 8:49:20 AM

@Maxim

olli commented on this yesterday:

We will look into the mouse gesture feedback after the 11 release and evaluate if we need to change it. The mouse gesture algorithm is tied up to the new UI, so to get back to the old way is not a small task.
