Slashing bugs, and improved Speed Dial extensions

Here's a build with more bug fixes, and some improvements to Speed Dial extensions.

The Add Speed Dial dialog now promotes Speed Dial extensions, and the way Speed Dial extensions are shown extensions manager has been tweaked a bit. You can also install the same Speed Dial extension more than once.

There's not much more to say, I guess, so test away! smile

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

In 11.11 you fixed "Crash when opening www.falk.de" and a security bug. Is the security bug fixed in this build? I ask because the www.falk.de bug isn't ...

Boo Yaa to anyone that's crying about Opera adding new features before fixing old stuff...

pursanovd Wednesday, May 25, 2011 12:02:08 PM

Stability is good! Thank you. By the way, there are some features i liked in Google Chrome:
1-Its Omnibox! Opera's address bar search algorithm is not as good as Chrome's. May be you can work a bit more on it?
2-Autofill-is really great thing. But Opera has only one profile. For example i usually have 3 different addresses and several emails. With Chrome its easy to fill all the information in one manager.
3-Google services! I know that Opera has some complications with Google, but you have to settle up all that problems and give users ability to use them! Opera IS modern browser. Such Google's discrimination is disgusting!
May be i should open some thread on forum to be heard, but i hope Opera devs read these comments and i wont be only one who wants existing features' improvements.
Thank you again for really good product that becomes better and better.

Since the previous build, my mouse cursor disappears when not moving.

Same with this one.

EricJH Wednesday, May 25, 2011 12:23:11 PM

Updating with the updater works. I had it set to manual and asked Opera to check for update; and there it was. up coffee

It's flash doing it, not Opera. Example, play any Vimeo video.

This:
when i open new speeddial (3x4) page i have to wait some time until it opens (very annoying for regular browsing), in old speeddial it showed up immediately. i still hope opera will not forget about users with older pcs, so far i'm still on 11.01, waiting for this to change.

АлександрDragonLP Wednesday, May 25, 2011 12:40:24 PM

Speed Dial. would be better to add the item "add extension...", as well as "add site..."

@ClashCityRocker: I have no idea why he said that either. There is no hardware acceleration in this build.

Haavardware acceleration lol

Why so many ask for new features? Lets first make all work bug free/stable and fast

Reminder:

DSK-331882 not fixed

Please! smile

Still buggy visited links. They are getting lost after a browser restart. VERY annoying.

Angry Birds webversion is choppy and unplayable, even in SD-quality (or does it need hardware acceleration?)

http://chrome.angrybirds.com/

Still problems with search boxes.

http://www.thq.de/ -> the whole upper area disappears when typing in the search box

http://www.thq.com/ -> the whole upper area disappears when typing in the search box

http://community.mxvsatv.com/forum -> "type:forum"-string after hitting enter in the search box (this problem exist in FF4, too)

SteveKong Wednesday, May 25, 2011 1:30:20 PM

We all have waited for Haarvardacceleration. lol
Two strange things in Link resp. Speed Dial
1. After (manual) update of Opera Next, all Speed Dial entries are gone.
2. After clean install of Opera Next, Speed Dail entries are fetched from Link in wrong order and additional (advertising) entries are added.

Yes, and it's still flash, if you disable plugins on that site it won't happen. This flash video is causing it, btw. http://www.flickr.com/photos/60683780@N04/sets/72157626153444211/show/

Sushubh Wednesday, May 25, 2011 1:52:18 PM

Ok... This is sort of weird. I am used to saving images from the web using Control+Click on the images.

But in this build... Control+Click does not work if the image is also a link.

This is very different behavior from previous builds (and all the releases for a very long time).

Is this a new default behavior? Or just a bug?

Can I change this behavior from the settings?

If this is the new behavior, I would probably have to stick with the previous build for ever. I already am frustrated with two other bugs that remains unresolved for a long time now.

Martin RauscherHades32 Wednesday, May 25, 2011 2:00:44 PM

When opening the email page with the "E-Mail" button, it displays the "search for '%s' bla bla" bar over the messages list...

This is is so, because in the future it should be possible to use CTRL-click to (additionally to CTRL-SHIFT-click) to open tabs in the background, just like every other browser. This is just not integrated yet.

Not sure if you will be able to change this behavior. Maybe it will just change so you can use SHIFT-CTRL-click for image saving...

Michael Maierschwiebie Wednesday, May 25, 2011 2:10:17 PM

Is the disappearing cursor a new feature?
It disappears after a while (about 2 seconds) and reappears when I move the mouse.

Ok, no feature.
It's affected by this site:

When the site is already open, the cursor disappears on every other site.

great. another functionality i lose because of standardization of keyboard and mouse shortcuts. sad

i really hope that they make it a toggable setting. i guess i am stuck with the previous build for a long time now.

Opera Turbo still doesn't display the manga images immidiately after the page load completely in all online manga sites such as MangaStream, MangaReader, CityManga, etc. You need to switch to another tab then switch back again and then the manga images will displayed.

Only for images that are also links, it still works fine for plain images (where it is arguably more likely that you want to store them locally). Please don't wait for a special setting here, that is not really practical to implement. I know it is a nice handy extra, but two clicks (right-click > save image) instead of one with a modifier key is hardly a showstopper.

I guess some Javascript wizard will have to figure out what's happening there. The error console didn't really provide clues. Edit: BTW, this site worked in Opera 11.01 but started breaking in 11.10. Did you file a bug report?
