A couple of improvements since the Beta

, , , ,

We managed to finish off a couple of important fixes that just missed out from being included in the Beta. So here is an update.

We will not be putting this build on the auto-update servers until a little bit later in the day, so if you don't want to wait, download it manually via one of the links below and get testing! headbang

Known issues
  • Speed dials appear to go missing on syncing with Opera Link: a work around is provided here
  • POST searches do not work from the URL field or address field
  • Inspecting elements with Dragonfly does not always work
  • Drop downs in mail compose windows are black on Linux and FreeBSD
  • Clicking the link on the Intranet toolbar on Mac does not work

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

One weird observation on this "not-being-able-to-delete-RSS-feed-items" thing: at least on Windows XP32 strangely some feeds do have this problem, while others do not. I could not find any common denominator for possible cause of this difference. However these "cannot-be-deleted" items are removed after restarting the browser as being mentioned before.

What about DSK-337897?

Ruarí Ødegaardruario Wednesday, June 1, 2011 10:13:17 AM

DSK-337897 (POST request in Search engines doesn't work), needs further work. Hopefully we can provide you with a snapshot including a proper fix for that shortly.

Works here. You should check your urlfilter.ini (richt-click -> block content -> details) or AdBlock-Extension - there are ads shown before the videos and it seems they link to Amazon - so you might have blocked some ad-services on that page...

Opera 1111 uses a different profile. With a clean 'Next' profile you may find that Opera Next 11.50-1031 plays video as well, given others here have reported no issue with the site you linked to.

In all likelihood it was something about your setup such as an over aggressive ad blocking configuration.

Until you can show that this site fails to load videos with a clean profile we cannot consider this a bug and hence no work will be done on it.

Malgalad Wednesday, June 1, 2011 10:49:28 AM

Bug from a previous build: after closing Dragonfly activates the last tab instead of keeping the same. Win7, can anyone confirm?

Andrew FrazierAndrewDFrazier Wednesday, June 1, 2011 10:53:54 AM

Opera Next has just become completely unusable on my Mac.

I was using build 1018 before the weekend and everything seemed fine other than links opening in the background.

I came back to work today and installed 1032 and launched it and after a few seconds it hung, causing me to force quit after a while.

After a few attempts I went back to the 11.50 Beta build and had the same thing happen.

I've uninstalled it, deleted the Opera Next folders from my User Library, Preferences and Application Support folders and tried again, this time with 1031 giving me what should be a clean install and it's still happening. Install > Launch with just speeddial > wait less than ten seconds > hang.

I'm having to use the stable 11.11 build sad

KerenSkyy Wednesday, June 1, 2011 10:54:46 AM

Testing now. thanks.

i don't quite get the meaning of Opera Next, since past three or four builds i had to manually download and install update

issues with youtube progress indicator, twitter remember me, tab handling are still present

The auto-update server is maintained by another team at Opera. The system is thus usually a day or so behind the blog releases. We’re working on speeding up the process.

AttaDostum Wednesday, June 1, 2011 11:25:52 AM

Still struggling with importing my Want.dat file from 11.11 into current version. Any suggestions?

Ruarí Ødegaardruario Wednesday, June 1, 2011 11:29:07 AM

@OlegYch: "Opera Next" has nothing to do with the auto-update system per se. The point of Opera Next is that it is easy to install side by side with stable Opera. Prior to Next the default was to install over the top of the stable. Also if you actually had two installs they may fight over the preferences. Finally, it was difficult to quickly establish which was the stable and which was the unstable when running them simultaneously. Opera Next fixes these problems. Changes to our update practices are a side issue, separate from Next.

i see, thanks
i'm using latest builds on a permanent basis, so was expecting Next to ease the updating process by doing all updates automatically (kinda like chrome dev channel)

Hi. Could someone confirm grooveshark.com bug (can't scroll vertical when you add all songs to playlist) and twitter.com (when you search some hashtag #opera for example it's not showing in results)? By the way ... Is there any chance in the future to fix DSK-277964 (transparency in pdf files)? Thanks.

Opening closed tabs makes them open to the far left of the tab bar.

Opera 11.11 has the same settings but opens the closed tabs correctly.

Anyone Confirm?

confirmed, very annoying
in addition to this and previously mentioned regressions in tab handling just noticed one more - ctrl-tab moves through all windows, imho it should work on per window basis (as it always was)

gwarser Wednesday, June 1, 2011 1:55:56 PM

Advanced -> Tabs -> When closing a tab: Activate the next tab - when I close right-most tab no one is activated
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7449/20110531151706.png

If many tabs are open, moved tabs are stacked or return to old place.

"CORE-38802 (File continues to download after tab is closed)"

Can you please take a further look at this? Because when I try to manually download a file in a Private tab, once I incidentally close that tab the downloaded item gets removed from Downloads, not done. This doesn't happen when using a normal tab.

Yogurth Wednesday, June 1, 2011 2:09:08 PM

I think that's on purpose, because private browsing shouldn't let any trace behind. But indeed there should at least be a dialog box to explain that current downloads will be aborted if the last private tab is closed...

Bug DSK-337951 (Can't open SAVED SESSIONS from speed-dial or address bar) is still around on this version...

It's a major functionality drawback since it was the fastest way to open a group of tabs (with styling, etc.), a single click.

Please try fixing it or at least let us know if you plan to keep it like it is right now (unable to open sessions from the speed dial).sad
