Swordfish Release Candidate 4

, ,

This is the fourth Swordfish (11.50) release candidate. Once again there are not many changes but careful testing by you is still needed.

In the last RC quite a few of you were concerned about the removal of the arrow in the address field drop down, so we have now provided a preference setting to bring it back (though it remains off by default).

Remember before commenting, at this stage only critical release blockers are being considered for 11.50, so if an issue you noticed doesn't fall into this category please hold off from commenting below (or take your feedback to the forums). This makes it much easier for the team here to quickly gather useful information.

Those aren't implemented so no bug, and you don't have to repeat you're self

Two things to mention.

At first, the color schemes does not work perfectly. The "panel toggle" does not changes colors. For example, in sand color scheme, it remains default. Win7 32 bit, Opera 11.50.1071

An second a webpage problem.
Upload photos to my.opera.com looks a bit strange, at the bottom.

This looks the same with 11.11, and also with Internet Explorer 9

Hi! Can U tell me what is deference between Swordfish Opera RC4 and Opera Next RC4?

Ruarí Ødegaardruario Sunday, June 26, 2011 7:18:29 AM

@andrew-bubnov: Opera (the one labelled Swordfish) will upgrade your stable Opera install. "Opera Next" upgrades "Opera Next"

Бубнов Андрейandrew-bubnov Sunday, June 26, 2011 7:22:52 AM

Thanks for your explanations.
Using Opera Next smile

Great!!! yes

pursanovd Sunday, June 26, 2011 7:35:28 AM

Strange Opera Turbo behaviour: I enabled it and chose Automatic. The network speed wasn't slow, but page badge showed that turbo was ON and it saved me some space. Tho on next disabling/enabling it-turbo is not showing in the badge..Strange and cant tell you really how to reproduce that, because got it just spontaneously.
win 7 x64.

One huge bug is still not solved. Opera (on Vista) still overwrites already saved html files without even asking.

I agree.

I disagree, whilst there are still some new regressions, most of them are very minor and some very major issues have been addressed, and thus Opera 11.50 in it's current state is a massive leap forward over Opera 11.11, and thus fit for release.

Ronit Kumarronitrex Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:05:59 AM

Speed Dial Tab thumbnail does not display properly. I think its a known issue. If this is fixed, it will be the best looking opera release to date smile

Confirmed here in Win7. Clearing history doesn't clear list in address bar drop-down.

yossariane Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:12:38 AM

In extensions manager can't open preferences. For me it is big bug which prevent me using some of extensions like "Exchange"
After upgrading 11.11 lost extensions manager preferences too.

I agree ClashCityRocker. Opera 11.50 is absolutely fantastic...And I would be the first one complaining if it wasn't.

another RC with not vital fixed bugs? come on...i dissapointed in every rc release...and that makes me believe the final will be nothing cool

youngjr Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:19:33 AM

Thanks.
Opera Link is stable.

sperling Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:21:17 AM

Something is definately wrong with rendering hotmail.com with Opera 11.50 RC3 and RC4. I can work with the service with Chrome, but when I work with Opera folders in Hotmail (@windowslive.com domain) disappear or appear in wrong ways.

dengwenwei Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:24:27 AM

i think the speeddial thumb image is so blur, even u cant see it clearly

yjxc Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:35:22 AM

The arrow in the address field has come back!
Thank you opera desktop team!
Thank you Mr Ruarí Ødegaard!
I love Opera!

ouzowtfouzoWTF Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:38:07 AM

This problem for slideshare.net is a showstopper (at least the second one described) since it is a regression to the last stable build 11.11.
Same problem is talked about here.

al007 Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:38:11 AM

Fix high cpu usage on Extension Manger!

mflagler Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:38:47 AM

Background flashes to white when scrolling on this page: http://www.daily-free-ebooks.com/

Not sure if this also has an issue on other sites, but this regression has been around for a bit in the Next versions. Does not happen on the last stable version.

Yes. Now make it the default so that we don't have to keep telling upgraders how to get it back.

Not confirmed on w7x64, nothing is flashing here.

shaneh Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:45:47 AM

Sadly Opera Mobile and Mini no longer sync with Opera Link. I assume these snapshots have upgraded my link data on the servers, which is now incompatible. It's been a problem ever since they introduced password sync.

I've reported this before but it was never acknowledged.

abdur92 Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:47:37 AM

Yes! The drop down address bar is back! Cheers! cheers beer

thanks for the folders option in 'feeds', needed it very badly it just got messy with too many feeds. Now thanks to the folders, they can be sorted easily.

Gereford Sunday, June 26, 2011 8:57:08 AM

Thanks for new snapshot. smile
What about DSK-340277 (In Windows XP in mail panel not changing button states Unpushed/Pushed/Hover for button "Check/Send", "Compose" and "View")

In Windows 7 it's ok.

Can anyone confirm?

The box that opens when you click the (i) in the installer is too small for some languages (tested with German, Danish, and Dutch):

please fix this one, seen in both Windows 7 32 bits, and Windows XP SP3

1- Open Opera
2- Activate Turbo
3- Restart Opera.
4- That's what you get :

the icon is back after clicking the text

this bug is there only in both RC3 and RC4. Opera next and Opera swordfish !!

keep up the good work

octopod Sunday, June 26, 2011 9:07:00 AM

Thank you for a build.
I found the following problem with the search dropdown behavior. In previous releases when i started typing in searchbox and pressed down arrow on my keyboard i jumped to the first (google) suggest result, then to second and so on. But now if i press an arrow a search engine changes and if i want to choose a suggestion i should press it several times. I think it is not very convenient because suggestions are used much more often then search engine changes. Could you please fix it and return it as it was in previous releases. Thank you in advance.

Text colours are still not fixed, and I also noticed that I can't drag tabs from one Opera window to another.
