Certificate Unbroken

Daniel was tired of having his face in the public all the time, so he asked me to put forth my face here instead. So here it is, another snapshot! Highlight of the week is that we fixed the crash when using mail accounts with certificate problems.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

"DSK-343780 (With the Menu Bar on, closing a new window after an external link is opened in it crashes Opera)"

I just tried my damndest to crash Opera via the method I reported as DSK-344029. I was unsuccessful. So that seems to have resolved itself. The menu bar was the culprit, huh?

As a web designer/developer I just feel the need to say that a big changelog does not necessarily infer numerous changes, a small one can infer numerous changes too.

In example I'm currently working on BBCode/Rich text editor and it all has to be cross-compatible. For a single feature on my site's changelog I have to validate and then parse and then convert and I have to do all of that TWICE and make both BBCode and XHTML compatible. On top of all that I have to deal with cross-browser inconsistencies which are numerous. I've been working on it for two months (maybe more) and probably have another month ahead of me...for what may amount to a short changelog however the implications of what can be done with the work are, great.

So when you look at a short changelog never shrug it off as not much work done. Few people have any comprehension of how many hours of however many days, weeks if not months of work by how ever many human beings it took to get something to simply work that is executed in mere milliseconds. It's thankless work being a developer, showing a little appreciation helps us remind us that people are worth the effort. smile

Back to 12.1017 (again!). Scrolling still not fixed on www.appadvice.com. You have to click mouse on window to give window focus before scrolling works and, it you click on a link, you have to click on that page too before scrolling works. Scrolling (and page up/down and arow up/down) are still real jerky and not smooth.

Works fine in 12.1017. I've been reporting this since v12.1020. Maybe someday.

Jup, it is a duplicate of bug DSK-343780, which was fixed in this build smile

New Outlook-like Preview Pane feature in Gmail Labs has blank display for "vertical split." The other views work properly, "horizontal" and no split.
(last two builds on both Win7 & OSX)

Really fast builds lately, in everyday browsing, btw. wink

Dunno if it has been reported yet, but there is one minor annoyance still present after all these snapshots:
When I open a mail tab, the mail tool bar and Opera's panel (I think that's what it's called) pop open, and disappear along with the tab when i close it. However, the next time i load Opera, they reappear, forcing me to manually disable them in the options.

LOL, when i saw the new "Avatar" I thought it's a new snapshot ;.. got me p

well, Opera has 2 annoying behaviors, i don't know if they are bugs or options or what,

1- when you right click in a page, you can't close the tab by middle click until you cancel the "right click menu"

2- when you type in the adress bar and the dropdown menu in the adress bar is opened, right click doesn't work until you click the adress bar to close the suggestions, then you can right click ...

Am I the only one having these frequent problems?

- "Waiting (#n) for a connection" is displayed for about one minute when opening a link, probably primarily over a proxy and on pages using Ajax code, like Google webmaster tools. Restarting Opera helps in this case, at least for a while.

- When scrolling Google search result pages, the "[Translate this page]" link often vanishes partly. (Note that Google does not always display this option, but when it's there, scrolling the page garbles or hides it.)

- When scrolling pages with the mouse wheel or touchpad while a tooltip is displayed over a link, the area where the tooltip was is often garbled afterwards.

Environment: Windows 7 (32 bit) on several Atom-based PCs, user.js disabled. The problems above do not occur on IE, FF, Chrome.

Opera uses 100% CPU and works very slowly with some pages.
For example http://sonikelf.ru/udalyaem-lyubye-programmy-nachisto/
Not sure about previous builds, but Chrome and even IE8 works much better.
Win7 x32
PS. Sorry for my English.

But the speedial entries are not private...

If you are logged in on a page and the speeddial entry shows that you are logged in and you open speed dial in the private tab you are still logged in even after reload of the entry...

Is that a bug or a missing feature?

Daniel AnghelMagnus616 Thursday, August 18, 2011 10:43:57 AM

I use both Opera Mail Client and RSS Feeds.
When I delete a post from Feeds, it goes to trash(this is normal).
But if I go to trash and I use Delete Permanently then the post is restored in the feeds.

Previous snapshot worked fine for me.

I think you misunderstood me... I want that panel to appear when I open a mail tab, which it does. And I want it to disappear when I close the mail tab. Again... All is fine. What i don't want is for the panel to appear the next time i load Opera for no apparent reason.

Does not always work to switch layouts in Flash applications. Previously, this was only the Linux version of Opera, and now the Windows version.
I have a problem playing for 6 computers running Windows XP to 100% of the windows at 7 - to 50% of cases.

With the last couple of builds I've been troubled with a mouse pointer that suddenly makes a big jump. I run my Opera 12 1047 on my secondary screen, and some times when going back to the previous page, the mouse pointer jumps over to the primary screen. This has also happened sometimes when hovering some plugin-areas like flash commercials. Not any consistencies about the behavior I'm afraid, and I have not upgraded driver nor FW on my gfx-card lately.

Thanks for the new snapshot.

However, I hoped for a fix of the umlaut domain issue (try to open any umlaut domain, i.e. öpnvkarte.de, and it will fail).

Could you please fix this?? Would be greatly appreciated smile

Fluxid Friday, August 19, 2011 6:29:51 PM

DSK-343389 not fixed
And filed new DSK-344810 today - I lost about 60 mails, but it's my fault for not doing any backups of my dovecot Maildir :|
Can't check if DSK-343669 still exists now, maybe later.

There were more bugs I filed but I just don't have numbers noted down...

And Opera crashes with dragonfly, always on page reload and rather randomly on other occasions (like clicking element on page sometimes etc) but still very often, making it completely unusable.
