Opera 11.60 (Tunny) Beta

,

The Opera 11.60 (Tunny) beta is now available for download.

Tunny introduces major changes to the both the user interface and the core of the browser (Presto). In addition to numerous bug fixes and other improvements, these are some of the highlights:

  • A new HTML5 parser (Ragnarök), which improves compatibility
  • A new version of our Carakan JavaScript engine with improved memory management on complex web applications
  • Full ECMAScript 5.1 support
  • CSS3 radial gradients
  • Support for HTML5 custom scheme and content handlers
  • Fixes and tweaks to the Featherweight skin, including a new Featherweight address field
  • A star to the right in the address field lets you quickly add or remove pages from your bookmarks or Speed Dial. It lights up when the current page already exist as a bookmark or Speed Dial

Opera's built-in e-mail client has also received a major facelift:

  • Changed the layout to work well with wide screens
  • The list of mails now shows two lines: Subject and sender
  • You can group messages by date, unread status or pinned status
  • We cleaned up the looks, including new icons and simplified toolbars
  • A new overlay dialog for settings lets you easily change the layout and other things
  • "Pin" messages with a single click for attention
  • Faster mail fetching thanks to QRESYNC support and several backend optimizations

Work on Wahoo (Opera 12) with hardware acceleration is continuing in parallel with this, and we are planning new Opera 12 snapshots next week.

Still 1145?

No changes since the last build so Gmail webmail is still broken on Linux. (Ubuntu 10.10, Mandriva 2010.2, 2011 32-bit).

Wow, the mail client looks really nice. And the added options for its configuration are welcome. Looks like you have spent a lot of time on it.
Thanks

It works fine here... Seven 32bits.

--->Anyway I have to say that I really don't like the new extra pixel on the top of the Opera Menu. down

Not confirm.

MossMan Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:05:20 PM

Hey! Did you guys somehow push an update of the mail stylesheet?!?

Those huge titles have just changed for a smaller (and uglier) font while I was still using the browser! Closing and opening Opera didn't make them revert to the previous huge text either...

Edit: spoke too soon - clicked an RSS article and the title started small but then jumped back to the huge style again. Weird.

Gerby Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:13:59 PM

Bug: Download settings for the file format .ogv is changed "automatically" to "Open with Opera". I can set it as wanted (e.g. to run with default application), however, after restarting Opera again the setting is set back to "Open with Opera". This wasn't a problem in Opera 11.52.

I haven't checked if this also applies to other file format download settings.

And how much does Opera use with 3 blank tabs?

I think you need to be asking what the Facebook game is doing? Clearly thats where your problems are likely to be...

Witold Barylukmovax Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:26:35 PM

Wow. Lots of good changes. URL and MIME handlers, DOM events, custom resampling, and already known changes (HTML5 parser, radial-gardient, full ES5.1 complience, XHR with typed arrays), mail improvements (new layout and resync support). I'm all happy about it. VERY GOOD. Cutting edge. smile

But please fix drop down menu of address bar. Search suggestions and design of it is ugly. I know I can disable search suggestions in settings, but disableing it, also disables it in "search bar", which I would want to preserve. Similary layout of new drop down menu is ugly. URLs are truncated, there is no favicon, font is ugly, I do now know if text on the right is title or page content. VERY BAD. Please rethink it.

As for now very good stability and compatibility.

Witold Barylukmovax Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:28:52 PM

One more thing to fix in skin: When a toolbar appears about "Do you want to remember password?", there is "x Done", on right. It is wrong. It should, be "Done x", or "Close x"! It really annoys me.

ouzowtfouzoWTF Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:31:14 PM

I have constant crashes since build 1145 (?) when closing Opera. Send some crash logs. When trying to open Opera with Memguard, the memguard.exe crashes and creates a memcrash.bin file. No crashlog dialogue is shown then.

w7x64

How can I help solving that?

Seems like I always experience crashers, when all other people have a very stable Opera worried

Cursor changes when hovering on text... Like in IE/Firefox :| OMG, I was hoping that would never change... This is one of the biggest mistake ever.

Allyn Gibsonallyngibson Thursday, November 10, 2011 2:58:50 PM

The "Check All" button for Mail doesn't work. Nor does the keyboard shortcut.

Windows XP.

+1000

Ex of resulting pb: The selection cursor appears in Dragonfly over buttons with text.

There was really no need to have a selection cursor over some text (Moreover it does not always appear for an unknown reason)

Just remove it if you dare to, or at least give an opera:config entry to disable it.

I do not consider this as an improvement down

@robin - Deezer has been like that in Opera for a long time... ever since the Deezer interface changed slightly a few months ago.

Robin GrolleauRobin-Grolleau Thursday, November 10, 2011 3:39:16 PM

@MossMan - Yes but that does not seem to be a big problem (if you refresh the browser window you can have a result page). It seems to be AJAX problem, then why not to fix this ?

hovering the test above: "Please keep comments relevant to changes in this snapshot, etc." the cursor does not change and the text is not selectable. Why?

[Mac OS X 10.6.8] Works quite well so far, but all my installed widgets crash on startup. Reinstalling them solves the problem. I've just reported the issue via the crash logger dialog.

Hi,
I've had a problem with the mail-client in opera.
Actually, I still have it now too.
It's that each e-mail I got, shows 2 times in the list of e-mails.
(I'm using a G-mail account - Win7 x64)
Anyone that can confirm?

Namelesske Thursday, November 10, 2011 4:52:04 PM

Thanks for this new Beta!

I have some problem with the default skin,

The Bookmarks button is bigger than other buttons:

Opera crashed when I started it and a new profile was created.
Exiting and opening again does not crash it.

The category list is not working as it should, it is supposed that you have to chose only ONE item from each column until you reach a continue buttom.

It's a well known site for sales.

A copy of the message, from the previous topic.

Write any text in google Translate in any language and translate.
Page settings set "Fit to width".
Move your mouse over translated text / word.
And we admire a bug.

Вбиваем любой текст в google Translate на любом языке и переводим .
В настройках страницы ставим "Подогнать по ширине".
Наводим мышку на переведенный текст/слово.
И любуемся прекраснейшим багом.

Bug is in the 11,60 all build and 12.00 lasts build.
Ошибка в 11,60 всех сборках, и в нескольких последних 12,00.

PS: Sorry for bad English. My native language is Russian. However, "google translate" translation from Russian into English is worse than I did.

ЗЫ: Извините за убогий английский. Мой родной язык русский . Однако translate google переводит с русского на английский хуже чем я сам парадокс однако .
