Wahoo overtaking Tunny

, , , ,

Since Tunny has been released from the holding tank, we can now focus on Wahoo (Opera 12).

The changelog for this snapshot is mostly the same as the 11.60 changes since the previous Opera 12 build. In addition to that, there is a basic implementation of themes on Linux/FreeBSD and other themes fixes.

Kiss Kiss flirt !

Known issues
  • The Mac build has a slightly higher build number: it fixes the issue below
  • The useragent string on Mac is broken, which may cause various site compatibility issues
  • Window controls missing on Linux/FreeBSD after theme install
  • Title bar is blue rather than themed on Linux/FreeBSD
  • Themes may not apply correctly with Hardware Acceleration on in Linux/FreeBSD

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

David ChinerkunFoo Wednesday, December 7, 2011 4:27:08 PM

I cannot close the vertical-side panel clicking at the toggle button.

NickName82 Wednesday, December 7, 2011 4:28:35 PM

The panel switch (no idea what it might be named in english - the bar on the left screen border) on the left side does not work. Only the icon in the status bar is usable. Anyone else?

Win7

Ahhh... it's called panel toggle

r2x0t Wednesday, December 7, 2011 4:29:50 PM

Great!

Now I hope Wahoo will fix some longstanding bugs, like no tab reordering with tabs using multiple lines. Or invisible search in code view when placed at bottom.
C'mon... these are regressions from old 10.60 rolleyes

For new bugs, I'm seeing Opera GPU problems with various games. Entire OS freezes for few seconds every minute or so when in fullscreen game. (GTX470/XP32/Games: Q3A,HardReset,DNF,...)

Except these bugs, Wahoo getting only better.

Works here. You first need to enable it in Appearance... (Shift-F12) -> Panels -> Show panel toggle at edge of window.

That would be a big "No-No" by me... I don't consider HWA as fun in any way. Let 'em get it completely right. It won't be easy, but I can wait as much as possible.

I wouldn't say latest, this happens for long time (probably since HWA was added). ;-)

probably not! sad ("mostly" and "basic" doesnt mean all.. its sad information for me..)

One of the biggest issue for me:
first open this page " http://www.spszl.cz/ " (my school homepage)
after try to open spszl.cz (with autocomplete)

Try this in Opera 11.60 final and in this build.. In tis build this again doesnt work!! :/ Older issues are again here sad I hope for native autocomplete in another builds.. please sad!

W7 x64,this build, deleted cookies and history for "spszl"

I guess, blurring have something to do with mipmapping.

Nice wink
Thanks for the snapshot with the updates smile

I'm still having text vanishing randomly when I have HWA turned on. There was an update for ATI drivers, and seems to have helped a little *Knock on wood*, however it still does happen once in a while. Font doesn't become blurry, random letters just vanish. Have to shut down Opera, and reload it.

Great, I'll start testing it on Linux right away. Just don't rush this release - keep it in beta as long as needed to fix all major issues.

Youtube-Video-Window drawn on top of all other tabs is back. Was fixed in 11.60 final.

Avola Wednesday, December 7, 2011 5:35:41 PM

Thanks for the theme fixes! Now they're actually usable smile
Noticed one problem though; when scrolling on the speed dial page I get some artifacts on the background like this: http://i.imgur.com/0DmAO.png (blue canvas theme, the background is supposed to be one solid thing)
Turning off HWA didn't help.
Win7 x64
Also, please move the close button on themes to the edge of the window.

Not only would it look better, but it makes it easier to close the window quickly by throwing the mouse up in the corner.

Redraw is still dire in Gmail (amongst other places, it seems). So far that's a deal-breaker - it's better in 11.60 but still not brilliant, but in this it's unusable.

Text entry in places can feel sluggish - for example, logging in to post this comment, filling the input fields felt very sluggish.

The 'Search' button on the Error/Invalid Address page is too tall.

I'm not sure if this is happening to anyone else but I witnessing CPU uage jump to 100%, dropping off and then peak to 100% again and again. This is a continuous pattern until I close Opera. On restarting all's well for sometime ...
