Oh, another *BIG* problem: I can't set the path to my mail folder in opera:config ! I change "opera:config#Mail|MailRootDirectory" to my own folder, save, restart Opera. And Opera still points "opera:config#Mail|MailRootDirectory" to the "default" folder (in my case "C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera Next x64\mail\").

EDIT: I had to manually edit operaprefs.ini

[regressions]
I know it has been reported before in these Opera 12 builds:

When pressing CTRL+backspace in the address field, it deletes not the entire section, e.g. when having www.google.com/drive, pressing ctrl+backspac this deletes then the forward slash ( / ) and 'com'.
It does not, however, delete the entire string after e.g.

http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2012/04/26/opera-12-beta

it deletes on the hyphen ( - ), but not '12' - and it deletes only the dot ( . ), not 'opera', or 'my'

In other examples, ( = ) ( & ) ( ? ) ( parentheses )and the strings before that are not deleted on first backspace, but instances like

( =.% ) - pressing backspace here deletes all three signs

It takes some time to delete this address for instance:

It can be used overall in Windows. Try copy the url from this page, press windows+R, then paste the url there and try to do the same. Here you will experience the correct behaviour, that windows follows everywhere. I found additional signs ( # ) ( \ ) ( % ) ( _ ) ( [] ) ( ' ) ( " ), etc. In this field of comments, the ctrl+backspace can be used as well, and unfortunately, the behaviour of not deleting anything but the signs above asserts oneself here just as well.

xor2 Thursday, April 26, 2012 9:02:47 AM

why did you made text looks so ugly when hardware acceleration is enabled? First version of firefox that used direct2d had similar issue. Now they fixed it. Also first version of IE with hardware acceleration had ugly text...

also can you make an option to use Direct2D but leave text rendering to GDI? It would fix quality issues and enable use of gdi++/ezgdi/mactype programs. As is now hardware acceleration is useless to me as it's even uglier than normal without ezgdi...

When I press CTRL+BACKSPACE in notepad it created unhatched squares, but it does partially work like in Word 2010, but in a text-editing context (not url's) I do not mind not everything is deleted upon just one press of a button smile

Google Docs never worked well in Opera. The devs should really invest some time in this because the Google apps are used by many people.

always annoyed me about opera 12. It never seem to work properly with updated gmail interface or google doc. I started using chrome for the first time because of it. Opera, you're driving people away

This is still making the clock run fast - about 1s/min of Opera being open. When Opera isn't open the system clock keeps time.

Opera starts in about 6s but then the bookmarks take about 12s to appear (Unite is off).

Thomasdaimonion Thursday, April 26, 2012 11:09:38 AM

Opera hangs on site:

Try to execute the java applet and opera becomes unusable.

Two other glitches in mail client:

- when several read/unread messages are selected, [k] shortcut doesn't mark them as read, I first have to mark them all as unread ([Shift] + [k]) then only I can mark them as read with [k]. So two steps required.

- really the "Quick reply" panel should have its height adjustable !!!

Constant freezing on Facebook for 32 and 64 bits. Both clean beta install.
hardware acceleration is off
Running Win7 64bits SP1.

Still drag&drop problem with maps.google (and some other sites, e.g. when clicking on some button, Opera "thinks" I am starting to drag&drop and it opens new tab with address like "javascript();" - I think these 2 cases are related.

Win 7 64, 64 bit build. HWA and WebGL on.

I've just noticed that Java isn't loading in this build. It was working fine in previous builds, but now none of the Java here:

http://www.brastro.org/

or here:

http://www.brastro.org/observing.html

will load.

Confirmed on Opera x64 (not clean installation).
The same with GMail (probably Google Reader too).

edit: inside the flash.

To date, none of the webgl demos I tried to see in opera worked. I tried several from chromeexperiments, and now http://maps.nokia.com/webgl/ , I always get some errors or mangled text or something else. Is that what you call webgl support?
Yes, I turned on webgl and HWA in config. Im on win7 64 bit.

I take it you have not taken even a basics software development course? You will never, ever find a sufficiently sized program that doesn't have bugs when it ships. My prof just gave us an example: when Excel 9 shipped, Microsoft was aware of 50 000 bugs. Yes. FIFTY THOUSAND KNOWN BUGS. And deemed it good enough. It is unfortunate that the example concerns Microsoft and Excel, as many will just dismiss it because of the notority of those names. It it true for all software.

For a comparison: Firefox's Bugzilla bug tracker seems to have about 15 000 to 16 000 issues right now. And they ship all the time.

If you want to only use bug free software: don't use computers. Or cell phones. Or cars. Or laundry machines. Everything has software. And all of it is buggy. It just has to be not-too-buggy, not bug-free.
If you want to only produce bug free software: don't become a software developer.

Now, please, could we concentrate on realistical problems Opera faces and how we might help them.

Manual refresh on speed dial results after a couple of seconds in this -> http://ge.tt/7Sa3bsG/v/0
The mouse movement produces the artifacts. After restart the refreshed speed dial thumbnails retain the garbled memory content.

WinXPsp3 32bit, every public build since 12.00b1359, NVidia m8400gs, HWA enabled.

With HWA disabled -> no problem.

Thts waht my point is. Bug or any problem that affect majority of people is big problem. IF websites support opera browser but do not play as intended. Its major issue. I know its problem from website dev, but then why majority of browsers can handle buggy code and render that website and Opera can not?

Opera handles buggy code. The devs have been doing that to work around site issues since version 8.01. The problem lies in the web developers not doing their job properly. If Opera really has an issue that is exclusive to it, then it must be fixed. But the majority of site compatibility issues are not because of Opera, period.

Do you even know what a "beta" release means? Did you even read the blog post? Beta means they'll be focusing on bugfixes. Alpha is for adding new features. I think the last thing they needed to be added to the alpha release was the DX HWA backend and it was added a few snapshots ago so they released beta.

EDIT: BTW,this is the same build as the previous snapshot: 1387.
