Opera 11.64 released

Hey
We have today released a new security and stability update of Opera 11.6x
If you wonder why your Opera suddenly upgrade from 11.62 to 11.64 skipping 11.63 it´s because you are not on mac where we had to throw out a 11.63 release a short while back.

11.64 does not contain many bug fixes, but it is a recommended security update and it does fix some crashers and a bad nsl bug some people get on e.g Ebay.

Changelog:
Opera 11.64 for Windows changelog
Opera 11.64 for Mac changelog
Opera 11.64 for UNIX changelog

Opera 12 betaBeta stabilisation and Mac clean-up

There is also a fix to a crash on exit bug that affected some people on Linux ad FreeBSD. I'll see if I can get the official changelog updated to reflect this.

blackcoder Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:31:06 AM

opminimod Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:42:19 AM

Fixed a part of NSL? Can't believe it! Hope one day it will totally vanish!~~

ahoj1234 Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:46:48 AM

Nice to see fixing 11.6x when is not 12.00 ready smile

But 1 question remain.. Is this the upcoming snapshot from Haavard´s twitter post? smile If so that what discussion is relevant here about this-what´s discutable..? smile
PS: The word checker don´t know word "discutable"..

edit: my fault.. It is French word.. but it sound so English smile

dżekdzek69 Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:47:18 AM

Thanks for the update.
But btw guys, I bet you all heard about firefox update causing it using less memory (even just 170-250MB) - Opera needs some changes too wink I never gonna switch from Opera, but 700MB of RAM used by Opera? A bit too much.

waiting for final 12.00, i love its features!

That Haavard, he loves to stir things up! wink

No this is not the snapshot he was hinting about.

Well, AFAIK it isn't a word in English.

Had many flash-plugin crashes on Ubuntu 12.04 recently, sure hope this might fix them.

earth01 Thursday, May 10, 2012 12:33:46 PM

It looks like Opera 11.64 is there to be a reference version for everyone smile

I'll surely keep it until scrolling and HA issues are fixed in the 12.00 one.

I'm such a twisted Opera fan, that I installed Opera 12 Beta on almost every PC I could get my hands on at school. And they are all working great :X. The stable branch was too mainstream for me ^_^

flm Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:00:34 PM

Download links would be nice...

alekksander Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:01:03 PM

Thanks! 11.6X is the best line since years! Really hope to see 11.65, or\and .66. I hope next version will fix the bug that causes opera to show info from different tabs (this affects extensions as well). Also it's still impossible to download voice libs.

How about big banner on the right side?

btw, about this banner... why it says opera is "simple"? should i understand it as "easy to use", or simple as not configurable? Far as i know no other browser is as configurable as opera...

Mészáros AntalMesant Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:01:08 PM

That's fine and fast! I love it! Thanks!

Fhury Thursday, May 10, 2012 1:20:02 PM

Thanks and dont release 12 until it is at least as good as 11.64! smile

Tried again after a system restart. Worked!

Muneer mha2999 Thursday, May 10, 2012 2:53:21 PM

yes

norton2001 Thursday, May 10, 2012 3:33:23 PM

After install crashed 5 times, uninstalled and reinstalled Opera 11.10 (a year old!) to at least get things like bookmarklets and speed dial working properly.
Sorry, 11.61 & 11.62 really come over as extremely buggy;over the last year of using Opera (since 2004) and evangelizing about it I'm really not impressed.
On the other hand, the current version of Next when it becomes fully featured and ready is a Chrome beater.
Please please please just a stable version of Opera where just everything just works, like Firefox is able to do

mubaidr Thursday, May 10, 2012 4:22:25 PM

Why this build is consideably smaller than the 11.62? almost 3Mb difference. bigeyes

Alexander Mityuninavm-xandry Thursday, May 10, 2012 5:06:52 PM

In openSUSE repositories still 11.61 sad

Cristiancristianer Thursday, May 10, 2012 5:19:51 PM

Thanks guys. I saw it in the servers.

Opera love

Jan-E Thursday, May 10, 2012 5:54:21 PM

We have no control over their repositories. Download manually or report to openSUSE that they should upgrade.

Looks like you introduced a new bug in Opera 11.64 & todays Wahoo-shapshot:
If you wrote sth. into a textarea on an extensions option page, the textarea doesn't loose focus when closing the options page directly (I used to save the content of the textarea via the onchange-event, which now isn't fired anymore...) bug doh

Adrian Nistreanuadrianis86 Thursday, May 10, 2012 10:46:36 PM

crash on www.manutd.ru

Charles SchlossChas4 Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:15:48 PM

I got a strange near hang w/ 11.64 on OS X 10.7.4 as Opera was cpu spiking at 95% and almost completely unresponsive, I got a sample from activity monitor

Charles SchlossChas4 Friday, May 11, 2012 12:13:11 AM

On OS X there is a bug in which from print then to save as pdf fails for documents w/ more than one page

Works fine in Safari 5.1.7

Very nice up-date!! Thank you!! happy happy

This is possibly my last update, due to loss of function in future releases.

Adrian Greydance2noise002 Friday, May 11, 2012 1:20:49 AM

I can't even open this version of Opera. Won't even launch into the program... crashes instantly. Pathetic.

Ned the NaniteNedTheNanite Friday, May 11, 2012 3:34:41 AM

The biggest bug of all for me has been the excessive CPU usage. Sites like Gmail and any of the US gasbuddy.com sites all peg my CPU at 99% and make the rest of the computer unresponsive. There are many other sites that also do this but I can't seem to narrow down whether this is flash-related, content-blocker related or something else. Whatever it is, it's still present in 11.64. cry

oskarw85 Friday, May 11, 2012 5:29:09 AM

For me Paypal payments pages (when redirected from online shop) are still not loading properly. It looks like only left half of the page(terse summary of order) is loaded, but right part with order details and confirmation button is not displayed. If I reload the page then I can see whole page for split second but at reload it's gone again.

Is anyone else facing the problem whereby Facebook will not load up properly after updating to 11.64? Disabling extensions like AdBlock or Ghostery doesn't resolve the issue, so it's not an extension problem.

I'm experiencing it as well. Luckily, I've found a quick workaround until it gets fixed by either Facebook or Opera (not sure on which side the resolution would fall to):

Under "Edit site preferences...->Network", change the value of the "Browser Identification" option to "Identify as Firefox". Refresh the page and it'll load correctly again.

You have a partial download. Re-download it again. The fault is not Opera but your internet connection.

Delete the operaprefs.ini when Opera is not running (check with task manager). This file holds your Preferences. Upon restart Opera will create a new one and will be back you factory defaults; you now need to set your Preferences again.

After update ,opera uses 700MB of RAM...and UP!! And i did see also others experience that. It's possible to get a workaround?
Now can't do the same things than before as it is (open other programs and soon)

Yeah, sry for that one. Figured it out by myself as well. Downloaded it at my place and installed on her PC. Worked as expected smile
