Opera 12 Release Candidate 6

Here's a new RC with a fix for a Windows installer issue where it would fail unless you were logged in as an administrator. This bug would not affect most people (only customized builds), but the fix needs to be tested to ensure that it did not break anything else.

The version string has also been updated to reflect the final version, and a few more languages have been added on Mac.

I still sometimes see hiding of the part of the URL after the domain name although "show full address" is turned on.

This is one way how this happens.

1. open https://twitter.com/Nouriel/status/212758505562705920
2. click "Juliet Lapidos"
3. click Tweets in the popup
4. observe address bar - sometimes the URL gets shortened to https://twitter.com, sometimes not.

happens on other sites also.

RC7! RC7! smile

MaximSailorMax Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:21:15 AM

Thank you for good testing RC! Much better, than previous releases! (when target date was more important, than quality (looked like)) wink

eliotcougar Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:23:12 AM

Changed version string makes Opera be blocked by Google's browser sniffer on Google+... Again... 64-bit version at least...

Mağruf ÇolakoğluZAHEK Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:24:31 AM

No, I wait RC9 + Final...

Danieledarklink88 Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:25:39 AM

! RELEASE BLOCKER!
I keep having opera link issues! After enabling the syncronization I still lose my speed dial entries!
osx 10.7.4 HWA and WebGL off

minor bug: addressbar losing focus on start. I don't know if you can consider it as a regression since this bug is already in 11.64 smile

MaximSailorMax Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:26:35 AM

question: Site Preferences has tab "Web applications". Since it appeared I don't understand what is it? Or this not finished feature? smile

Player profiles on EA Sports website doesn't work properly, for example - http://www.easports.com/player-hub/PS3/FranklyDj

http://us.playstation.com/ doesn't work properly.

I'd go into specifics, but there are 1000s of problems, and I don't have proper technical terms for them, so the developers should check them out themselves.

King Crimson Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:52:01 AM

I think memory leaks will be your main problem to fix after 12 release.

kubat1987 Wednesday, June 13, 2012 11:56:55 AM

I hope you will look into problem with mouse gestures in (K)Ubuntu, I'm suffering from:

When using the right-click gestures, letting the button go frequently causes the right-click menus (both page and speed-dial) to activate. Also, they will often stay atop the Opera's window and won't disappear until I use some of the options, or press Esc. The right-click menus'reactions seem too sensitive in general, conflicting gestures, but the above is the main problem, seriously lowering the otherwise great comfort of browsing with gestures.

thanks for new release!

dsk-365031 still present
problem with webmail...opera don't load page after log in at webmail (virgilio.it for example) if opera is identified like opera, if i change identity (of opera) login is completed successfully: this ONLY with opera 12 32 bit (and opera 11.6x release)

No problem with opera x64 bit version or previous 11.51 32 bit (for example), log in is completed successfully and webmail page is loaded without problems even if opera is identified like opera

Win 7 x64 HWA off and on

Opera doesn't add itself to Default Programs. No way to set defaults for Opera.

bachokocho Wednesday, June 13, 2012 12:37:13 PM

A strange problem, probably related to how Opera reads from cache but I had 3 loads of older content in pages that were already updated - Huffington Post's home page, NG's photo of the day are the most notable cases.
Edit: Now I reloaded the speeddial for Washington Post but after I entered the site it loaded content from yesterday

This was about DSK-365575, an actual, still non-fixed bug. Also, I can confirm the Maze Demo crash, too.

Can you be more specific about the issue? I tried your instructions and seems fine here. I'm running RC6 after updating from RC5 with a clean profile (well not so "clean" right now but I installed it fresh). smile

Are you running Opera as a standalone installation AKA in portable mode?

opera:config looks like this for me (x64 build)
http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/539/snap1bn.jpg
But what is more serious for me - DSK-358405 still not fixed (logitech setpoint custom mouse buttons) so I must stay at 11.64 if this RC will be final.

Confirmed.

Can someone please confirm DSK-364912?
Go to http://www.meteo.pt/pt/ and tell me if the Flash animation loads or if you're delivered with a blank area in the page. Also occurs in 11.64 for me.

Are you not using RC6 (build 1467)?

Ide StoutjesdijkCrimi Wednesday, June 13, 2012 1:01:00 PM

Is there a reason Opera 12 Release Candidate 6 Windows 64-bit does not upgrade Opera 11.64 by default but creates a second Opera installation?

It's confusing for most users because all bookmarks and mail settings are missing in Opera 12..

Works here; however, the regular context menu also appears alongside the Flash-based player's if I right click on a video.

Because Opera 11.64 is 32-bit, not 64-bit.

Still no search autosuggestions from google in address field for x64 version.
Browser sniffing is annoying.
Why you can't contact with google, and solve this problems?

Sorry, as mentioned below - my fault.

Maybe you should try a clean profile first. I have Google search suggestions in the address bar.
- Windows 7 SP1 64-bit;
- Opera Next 12.00 build 1467 x64 (same as regular branch RC6);
- HWA + WebGL + WebSockets disabled.

If it is caused by browser sniffing, there is nothing the desktop team can do about it. Hence, it should be discussed elsewhere, and not in this blog.

It's working, the problem resides on his side.

Possible crashlog problem.

I had a crash, sending failed, as did repeated "Send again" button pushes.

Did you report this at bugs.opera.com?

Note that a more thorough description is a good idea, since people may not know what you are referring to.

GeorgoSK Wednesday, June 13, 2012 1:32:03 PM

Still having issues with font display when letter-spacing is set to a negative value with HWA enabled. Too bad this will carry into the final.

I checked the cache, close the browser, and Opera still remembers the pages you visit.

Opera freezes frequently when logging into Google, sometimes freezes when going to write the text.

Also when you add a link to G +, you must click on the Add button, Firefox Google Chrome and Internet Explorer does automatically.

Yes but Opera 11.64 was not available in 64-bits.

Why would a Opera 12 64-bit user not want his settings imported, or even keep Opera 11.64 on his PC?

There is not even a dialog "do you want to import your settings from Opera 11.64" or "do you want to remove your old Opera installation".

It's just not user-friendly.

How will the auto-updater do this? Upgrade to 32-bits by default? Even with a 64-bit OS?

Charles SchlossChas4 Wednesday, June 13, 2012 1:47:26 PM

Clicking the links in opera:config do not change the address bar

opera:config#UserPrefs|EnableUIAnimations If you look at that one from opera:config and click the >> to link to it, it does not show in the address bar until you click the dress bar with a mouse click

I just got a pure virtual function call error crash on the 64bit build.

I have a crashdump file since the Opera crash reporter doesn't seem to work on the 64bit builds. http://depositfiles.com/files/ir2iddfmo
