Opera 12 Release Candidate 6

Here's a new RC with a fix for a Windows installer issue where it would fail unless you were logged in as an administrator. This bug would not affect most people (only customized builds), but the fix needs to be tested to ensure that it did not break anything else.

The version string has also been updated to reflect the final version, and a few more languages have been added on Mac.

Interesting... I was wondering yesterday if this was going to be a problem when the stable version at home gets updated! Looks like I have to "fix" it myself (must make sure my wife doesn't let it update before I get back from work! lol )

Opera sometimes freezes on pages with embedded youtube-video for a few seconds. also sometimes there is a drawing issue with such embedded video. f.e. when moving volume slider the video flashes black for a short time

What on earth should I do, to avoid this SHIT? down

Clean install of RC6 x64, cleaned cache of Flash 11.3.300.257, Java 1.7.0.5 installed also newly, and this crap is just here again and againfor build I don't know which one... cry

Oh, and afterwise closing ALL this windows, I still have this 8 line, with STILL working plugin wrappers:

Can it be a setting, or a PC related thing, or what the hell? (in my home PC I also receive the same crap, on W7 32 bit as well)

Sorry, I just feel disappointed about my favourite browser is getting down like this. awww

FreeBSD9 amd64, build 1467 -- upgrade from 11.64, no HW, no webGL, XFCE desktop

I eventually lose the ability to click anything at all and I have to restart opera. Clicking and dragging to highlight text stops working, the mouse doesn't highlight links, sometimes the mouse turns into a weird circle. Opera 12 is going to be useless to me if there isn't a workaround.

Rendering is more slow than on 11.64
Several UI bugs

I am rolling back to 11.64, waiting for the next bug fix release. wait

Minor bug, someone reported it before me for the first time:
  • Open any extension's preferences page
  • Do Gesture-left or flip back

Expected result: there shouldn't be 'back' as an option on this page. Actual result: Speed Dial is shown.

Anyone can confirm?
CSS Visibility/Opacity Transition still don't work at some sites.
At http://opera.com/ the menus don't show the transition effect, but at https://bugs.opera.com/wizarddesktop/ it does.

I can only repeat myself, this bug is still present: "After scrolling in opera with my touchpad (Synaptics, Acer Aspire 7738G) the mouse cursor is changing to "Busy" and stays at this cursor. It only happens when I scroll for a long time. Then i have to move the mouse pointer to get the normal cursor. "

That's why it works at bug report wizard.
And the -o-transition is present in the css, you can check with dragonfly.
And with Opera 11.64 it works.

I was unsure if it was only with me.

for ex: I have saved 10 sessions, and to some of them I need the tab, which were not open all 10 sessions, and check each one. Just going to watch the session as the menu, I see each link and a title and icon. As implemented in the bookmarks

Most likely, yes. It's the logical thing to do. And are you sure that the settings are not imported? At least on Windows, Opera stores the settings in both %LocalAppData% and %AppData% regardless of the user running the 32-bit or 64-bit version and this running a regular (non-portable) installation.

Yes, it's the weather map. Strangely, it doesn't load on my side. I already tried a clean Flash installation as well as clean installations of Opera 11.64 and any 12.00 builds, all to no avail. That's why I reported it as DSK-364912.

Thanks, it must be something really odd occurring on my side. If it's a bug in Opera that also occurs to certain users and not others, let's hope that the Desktop Team can track it down and provide a fix soon. wink

Ryan Morillosrart Wednesday, June 13, 2012 3:17:43 PM

If you rip a tab off that was a popup from another page, you can't edit either (i.e. you can't enter anything in a textarea and you can't edit the addressbar) until you put the tab back on the browser. This ONLY happens with a popup connected to a page in a different window.

I don't do it often, so I don't know when the bug came in, or if it's always been there.

I'm having an issue with dragging and dropping files with spaces in their names. To demonstrate:

1. Go to http://www.imgur.com
2. Drag a file from your computer with a space in its name ("hello world.jpg") onto the site
3. Say "Yes" to dialog
4. Notice that imgur now places the filename "hello%20world.jpg" on the site
5. Click "Start Upload" and observe that it fails, most likely because "hello%20world.jpg" != "hello world.jpg"

I'm on OS X 10.6.8, Opera 12 RC6

Old bug: when drag the tab to another Opera window - Opera crashed.
Windows 7 32bit

SF81 Wednesday, June 13, 2012 3:29:09 PM

Opera doesn't remember the size of the last restored tab. This is an old problem. Please, correct it; it's really annoying. (The ability of -minimizing, maximizing- restoring tabs is one of my top favorite features of Opera!!!)

When I launch Opera, the password manager lost the focus and it gets behind the main window.

Image tearing at http://www.tek.no/ has not been present before as far as I know. Have always been interested in the scrolling performance, so I usually do these kind of tests.

Only thing I have that is special is blocked content on the page. Tried to remove the blocking and refresh, but the content was still blocked right

Reproduce: heavy scrolling using mouse wheel while the pointer is placed in the white space (margin) on the left side. Then slowly scroll to the top. Perhaps it is necessary to block the commercials on top?

Guys, please - do you know, what does it mean RC version? Why so much RCs in so short time? This is my understanding of software versions:
Alpha - we want show you our new version, maybe we will add some functions, don't expect stability
Beta - no more functions will be added, there are still some bugs
RC - we want to release program, does anyone found some bugs or we can release Final?

In fact, you have tons of RCs, which behaves like Beta. doh

André Torgasatomew Wednesday, June 13, 2012 3:31:46 PM

As a follow-up to my posts about DSK-364912, here are screenshots I just took of the site in Opera 11.64 and 12.00 build 1467 x64:

- 11.64: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8033581/Opera1164_PortugueseWeatherInstituteMap_FailsLoading.JPG
- 12.00: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8033581/Opera12_PortugueseWeatherInstituteMap_FailsLoading.JPG

The plugin wrapper does have a process consuming nothing more than 6 MiB but Flash Player is somehow unable to load the weather map within Opera.

I have to agree with you here. Why not deliver post-RC snapshots as Opera Next releases only and then release a second RC to see if it's finally good to go? If so, then relaunch that RC2 as a final release. Makes more sense.

CryioAcryion Wednesday, June 13, 2012 3:35:37 PM

So....this RC just broke the funtionality of downloading torrents. I tried downloading something from http://filelist.ro and when I clicked to download a torrent, the browser freaked out and started making tens of blank pages, in the end resulting with the error "No registered application for this extension". What extension? I must say that I had enabled in Preferences->Downloads->torrent for Opera to use Utorrent as default application. So why is this happening?

Opera staff, does this need to be reported as a bug? I've reported the same thing on the blog a few times, starting with RC1, but have assumed it would be worked out by the final, possibly being tested before then by users willing to risk it.

It has been replied to you multiple times that the site is broken by design, so the fact that other browsers appear to load it properly is rather a question of better guessing on their part regarding what the web developers wanted to do with the code than rendering proper, standard code.

/offtopic: Releasing an RC after an RC suggests that a final release is somewhere close. But it shouldn't be final with so many bugs (look at the comments...)

Honestly, I thought like that too for a while. I said maybe it was Chrome's, Firefox's and Maxthon's fault. But after vs12 RC1 broke the review's text alignment, I knew it was a problem with Opera. By the way, "articles" are ment to be aligned to the left. And there should be spaces between paragraphs. I know because I recently took some tests in preparation for the Cambridge exam bigsmile so...

Until 1. Facebook and 2. Gmail work absolutely flawlessly, lots of users (including me - a die-hard opera fan) will not even consider changing.

I still reiterate: Facebook is better in this release but still sluggish...and GMAIL is slow slow slow.

Chrome flies in both of those sites.

Follow my suggestion: Get the TOP 10 INTERNET TRAFFIC WEBSITES and make them work ABSOLUTELY fast and flawlessly and then you will have a shot.

Confirmed! No, really, if you release this as final, it would be the worst final version in years. Mainly flash plugin crashes are intolerable.

Sometimes I cannot interact with the Flash plugin, for no apparently good reason.
I keep clicking on it, but no response or the response is delayed - the page may also lack responsiveness.

If anything Opera 12 is Opera 11 with major responsiveness issues and more bugs - this is not RC quality.
