Bugfixes as we prepare for 12.01
By Adrian Panasiukampanasiuk. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 10:31:57 AM
The focus of today's snapshot is stability, starting with some of the fixes that weren't quite ready in time for the 12.00 final release.
WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

I wonder what was so urgent about releasing O-12 that these fixes couldn't make it in? Might've saved Opera a lot of griping on the forums and this blog.

It'd be nice to fix the regression of

And also to be able to drag/drop from address bar to any folder.

You're NEVER going to fix all bugs in an application so at some point you have to decide to release. If they were to wait for all known bugs to be fixed it would never be released.
Now quit whining about it and quit hijacking the blog with useless comments that don't even deal with the actual snapshot.

I hope it finally gets fixed in 12.01

Same with other sayiami to which you want to download images. In a new tab with another site history to repeat itself, can not see images ...

Because they have to draw the line in the sand somewhere. If they had waited for this, it simply would have been other things people would be griping about. Nothing would ever get released in your world...
Opera 12 is a fine release, it's not perfect (no software ever is), but it's substantially better than 11.64, and that's what is important.
12.01 will wrap up the biggest issues, 12.02 the not so urgent ones, just like what has happened in the 11.6x branch.

not a clean install though as I don't think having to do one for every new release makes much sense if it means loosing all of my bookmarks, settings and mail.
no crash log is being made either. I could submint my install to someone on the team since its a usb one if that would help

Please.
There are other browser makers, actually all of them, who are perfectly capable of releasing major versions which are stable enough for production use. Opera isn't, and they still sit there wondering why they don't gain any market share while everybody copies features they introduced years ago.
Talking down to people pointing out systemic problems with quality control and the release schedule is not helpful, IMHO.

nVidia GTX 260, latest non-beta drivers (301.42; latest beta drivers have nothing stability-related in the changelogs)
HW accel ON, set to OpenGL. I'm about to set it to off and see if that makes a difference.

Videos on BBC and other websites very slow to load after initially freezing.
If Opera are taking on interns then that bodes well after some comments about hiring freezes in the Facebook rumour teacup a short while back, and 12 is really quite exceptional, with this snapshot very welcome.
Chrome developers should use Opera to see where they're going wrong.
Many thanks to developers
