HTML5 Drag and Drop fixes for 12.01

Time for another update to ongoing work towards 12.01. The focus of today's snapshot is HTML5 Drag and Drop fixes.

Also a heads up to our Linux/FreeBSD users. We made some changes to the process we use to build Opera internally. Several of the changes were done primarily for our own benefit and should have little impact on you. Nonetheless we felt we should mention the changes in case they do cause you problems. Features that are potentially affected include packaging, plugins, toolkit libraries (Gtk/KDE integration) and HTML5 video.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes, and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Thank you so much for the FIX.

However, I'm still waiting for the fix for this issue (DSK-340482 - Non native font rendering doesn't handle complex script properly), please

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=1438812&t=1339910900

Hope this HUGE issue will be fixed very soon.

Thank you so much Opera Desktop Team!!!

EDIT: I'd like to add that my problem happens only when turn on "Hardware Acceleration". I mean if I turn it off, (non native fonts) render correctly.

To Mod who edited my post, I'm not too sure that the one that you replaced (DSK-340282) instead of DSK-366950 that I got when I reported the issue is the same problem. How can I see more description of any "DSK-xxxxxx" issues, please give me some example link.

Was anxiously waiting for that.

Thanks for the latest fixes, Opera devs! My hope is that as work on the Opera 12 series continues, I will once again be able to run the latest and greatest Opera versions on my XP machines. As it stands, I can only achieve stability with the Opera 12 builds (including major release) on Win7. Keep up the great work!

If DnD is currently being fixed then I'm reminding about still present issue with dragging files (from Dolphin) to M2 attachments field, only one gets attached.

Kubuntu 12.04 32 bit, KDE 4.8.4.

Did you file a bug report?

Dzsini Tuesday, June 26, 2012 10:20:05 AM

Still exists:

1: Install any extension with a settings page.
2: Enter extension settings page from extension management page.
3: Use mouse gesture to go "back" (RMB + left, or mouseflip, or anything)
4: Get a Speed Dial page without titlebar and some strange behavior on page loading

Reported as DSK-365595

In case if you haven't read yet, here are some problems that I encountered with DnD.

Also, above this comment-box the text while transiting to red the scrolling and the text editing are really choppy.

danielmmmm Tuesday, June 26, 2012 10:25:32 AM

Tabs are also still frozen on Opera start! Reported as DSK-357099 a gazillion years ago and a real show-stopper! furious

GwenDragon Tuesday, June 26, 2012 10:35:44 AM

Dragging a picture (has embedded a link) to Windows destop creates a HTML file (with the content of the linked webpage) instead of saving the picture or a url-bookmark.

artemeas Tuesday, June 26, 2012 10:58:37 AM

I had a bug in the first 12.01 snapshot with bookmarks randomly disappear and reappear again after opening bookmark manager... windows 7 x86_64, is it fixed in this snapshot? or is it atleast a known bug?

p.s. one more question... does opera still hang pc while using windows 8 RP + optimus nvidia (i7core (hd graphics 4000) + nvidia gt 630m) ?

The image-tearing issue is gone, and I didn't even had to file a bug report. Awesome bigsmile

9gag posts tearing/clipping/blinking is gone. Opera is back on track.

Sputnikmusic.com is still messed-up though.

2 out of 3 of my issues with v12 were adressed. I'll be so happy with 12.01 ^_^

Test case? It's not clear what you mean by "has embedded a link". Dragging a link to a picture will create a shortcut, as it should.

DSK-366809 Dragging bookmarks to text fields still opens the bookmark instead of copying the link.

DSK-367776 Minimum pagebar width is not respected. Is this a bug, or intentional change?

bug with new button(s)? smile
step to reproduce it (need confirmations!)
1) click on the link and install this custom button
2) you can press "OK" and find this under settings without "ok" go to step 4.
3) drag the new button to. well.. middle 2 opened tab.. (hope you understand)

Opera crash or close without any log or something..

I have a question for you guys. Is Opera Turbo for Desktop still working? (by working I mean doing what it is supposed to do, because most of the time it actually slows the loading of the pages)

> An SSE2 capable processor (Pentium 4, Opteron, Athlon 64 or newer) is now required to run Opera

Is this a temporary decision? It's bad if not.

morbit Tuesday, June 26, 2012 12:02:31 PM

Replaced GNU make with an internal tool
GCC upgraded to 4.7
binutils upgraded to 2.22
FreeBSD builds now built on FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE

Nice...

An SSE2 capable processor (Pentium 4, Opteron, Athlon 64 or newer) is now required to run Opera

And then I reminded myself of Pentium III-S system Opera installation (I've prided myself with this that I could still run modern browser), I've made on 7-STABLE. sad

GwenDragon means a linked image ,, try to save images on this page : http://narenji.ir/ (by dragging)
most of its images have embedded link -

There are no hover effect when mouse over the tabs ?

PraetorianX Tuesday, June 26, 2012 12:40:17 PM

drag and drop on textual links does not work (the text is highlighted instead). Is this intended? edit: no actually, the behavior seems random. Sometimes the link will be picked for drag and drop, and other times only highlighting occurs. The link is more likely to be picked for drag and drop if you move the mouse downwards after clicking on the text.

However, if the textual link is highlighted first, or if the link is an image or some other element, drag and drop works.

Great, dragging a HTML link from the address bar on the Windows desktop, and into a folder using the Windows files explorer work perfectly now.

Thank you to the Opera Team!!!

With quirks mode disabled, integrated plugins have a height of 150px instead of 100%. DSK-368190

And can you check at DSK-360216 and DSK-368300 ? Both are probably the same issue I think. I found a workaround, but that should not be hard to fix, like the previous one. smile
