More fixes for Opera 12

Here's a build with a few more fixes, including some issues that were identified after the Opera 12 launch. There are several fixes for the e-mail client, and we've added an option to load mail databases synchronously. See the changelog for more information.

We're particularly interested in feedback on the NSL fix (CORE-47179), so let us know if you notice a difference.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Not as bad as some other sites, but it is a bit choppy.

When scrolling that page wildly with the mouse wheel CPU usage goes to about 20%.
For comparison, when doing the same thing with this Desktop Team Blog page CPU usage is only about 3-4%.

However, it is worse with IE9. CPU usage hits 60% and is is much choppier.

Until the day comes , if ever, that you can open Opera and not have to resort to Chrome as a backup browser to make a site work, Opera will continue to be the browser that is more of a novelty, then a working tool. while only making the other browsers more creditable. Think comparability!

Ok. For me this video plays in opera-next 12.00 x64 @Windows 7 x64 SP1, and flash 11.3.300.262, hwa off, webgl off. I tested both with content blocking enabled (fanboy's list) and disabled and it played both times.

So it could be an OSX specific issue.

WJ waj1944 Saturday, June 30, 2012 7:54:14 AM

Many of the issues with Opera seem to be "MAC" specific....if the other browsers work just fine on a MAC then, why can't Opera get it right?

Painting issue on www.spiegel.de
I see this issue with Opera 12 Final and this build of Opera 12.01. No problems with Opera 11.64.
Hardware Acceleration and WebGL disabled.
You can see it when scrolling slowly down with the mouse wheel. Looks like the corruption is often in line with the flash ad right next to it. I hope that this issue is not related to exactly that ad.

I don't see in the skin.ini any difference to not make it highlight tabs, as you've pointed out, so the problem doesn't appear to be in the skin.

Ward Saturday, June 30, 2012 5:11:40 PM

There was a feature in an earlier build where if you dragged a tab out of it's parent window, it would create a new window, whose position was exactly where you dragged the tab, even across multiple monitors.

This build, however, creates the new window at a fixed position relative to the original window.

I much favour the former, as a multi-monitor user.

Try a clean install of Opera next, and although which is not serious, I think it looks unsightly and it better be repaired now.

In the second screenshot windows 7 does not show the pointer, the first what I did with a capture tool. But the pointer is over the tab, in the second photo.

Slightly off topic, but I'm trying to make it possible for my wife to use 64-bit version - as her current 12.0 ver, 32 on 64, has a problem with links in emails:

Does anyone know if the 32-bit mail folder has any file, line in a .ini file or setting, that makes it incompatible with x64 for checking POP3 mail?

It's utterly impractical to import over a hundred thousand emails from the X86 ver to the X64 one, especially with over 50 filters, but when merely pointing the X64 ver at the X86 mail directory, it is impossible for the X64 ver to check mail. Every time you tell it to ck POP3 mail it instantly crashes.

If I can change a setting or line in the mail folder to make it work, or delete a file/setting and let X64 replace it, then we are golden.

I'm making myself a good meaty list of bugs I have found since v12, though thankfully many of them have been fixed in these 12.01 builds.

I must say, it's staggering how many things aren't working as they should, not even at 11.6x level.

I nice list with things encountered on Windows 7 and W8, x86 and x64 builds with different hardware setups ^_^. I bet Opera devs just can't wait to hear ^_^
