Another Opera 12.10 build

Here's another Opera 12.10 build.

We've fixed a couple of common crashes, and SPDY for Turbo has been disabled for the time being, as there were some problems with it.

As you can see from the known issue below, hardware acceleration will be somewhat unstable. We're also seeing some platform-specific issues where it would be nice to know what platform you are all on.

For that reason, we have a couple of requests:

  1. Try without Hardware Acceleration before reporting a problem (or always test with HWA off)
  2. Report your operating system/platform

Known Issues
  • Hardware acceleration causes frequent crashing

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

thanks!! Hopefully can see SDPY and Turbo back soon!!

Please undo the restriction that broke all my bookmarklets!!!

Even Opera's own DOM snapshot bookmarklet was broken. There is no reason you cannot allow bookmarklets since they are activated from within the browser interface and not from within the web page.

Glad to see DSK-372221 fixed! Thanks for all of your work!

you are getting this on mail.opera.com?

Christophchristoph142 Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:57:13 PM

I'm getting it EVERYWHERE. Facebook, eBay,... really every single website on the internet and yes, including mail.opera.com

It's showing fine during loading, but vanishes at some point before finishing

edit:I figured it out: it's because of an extension which uses injectedscript... but that's a bug as well, isn't it?
edit 2:It ONLY happens, if the extension is installed in developer mode! I guess you broke something there when implementing the new security dialog for the extensions...?

XenoAntaresXAntares Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:57:23 PM

Ctrl-Shift-… ui shortcuts still don't work [WinXP, 32bit] – but I guess it's a known bug.

TZ86 Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:03:07 PM

Now single-key shortcuts works with any layout, thanks! yes

But on Linux it have one nasty bug:

I bind Menu key to switch keyboard layouts (it's regular xorg option) and now pressing this key also calls context menu every time.

XenoAntaresXAntares Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:04:47 PM

History navigation reproducibly fails for some versions and many snapshots:
0/ open a new tab: speeddial
1/ go to a Wikipedia article (by typing a search shortcut and a subject in the address bar)
2/ click on a link to the article different language (should exist)
3/ go back: you end up with the speed dial. go forward: you get where ever fast forward from the second language article would have brought you.

[WinXP/32bit; auto, compatible or fast history mode]

DSK-372792 bug is not fixed, why?

Worst build since ever! down

Christophchristoph142 Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:20:28 PM

image loading often looks pretty ugly... but that's obviously the case since many many versions:

and new to the last couple of builds is that sometimes all images, which aren't cached already, aren't loaded / displayed at all. I have to reload the page to view them. Happens very often e.g. on badoo.com

Correct. Opening a secure site in private tabs has no problem if you don't have any extension to interact with private tabs.

BTW, since Opera 12.50 i can't set 'History Search' as speed dial search engine. Hope this won't drag to the final version.

nstv Thursday, September 13, 2012 4:29:11 PM

I've installed additional dictionary (Polish) and set it as default. After every restart Opera reverts it to English.

Opera X64, Win7 X64, WebGL and HW off.

I never use opera turbo, I have no extension.
The problem happened on Ubuntu 12.10 beta x32, but is solved after restart the computer (???).
Random NSLs become ALL 12.50/12.10 snapshots unusable on my two linux systems: Ubuntu and Fedora 17 x32.

This problem came back. I don't think it was in the previous build, but in this one, I got it twice already.

It seems to be happening, if I close Opera when a youtube (flash) video is playing. Opera somehow crashes, fails to create an automated report, and additionally popups a really baffling message "Error description from the system: the operation completed successfully". At the same time Windows report that the Opera Web Browser Plugin Wrapper has stopped working and prompt me to send info about it to Microsoft. :/

Page does not gain focus after entering a URL or going to a page trough speeddial.

I reported this in earlier 12.10 for Win8, and it's still present. And now testet in Win7 as well.

Win8 RTM 32-bit

The commands PageDown/PageUp now scroll by five lines less than a page.

This is a major problem for reading long pages of text. Not only does it take more steps to read the entire page, it takes a lot longer to find your place where you finished reading at the bottom of the page.

mubaidr Thursday, September 13, 2012 5:23:19 PM

Why are you not updating core specifications documents? whistle

anikulanikul49 Thursday, September 13, 2012 5:24:45 PM

What will it take you to fix DSK-372444 and DSK-372445???

These are very annoying bugs (at least for me).

The Unite Panel still exists, though Unite has apparently been removed entirely now.

Do you mean something different than what's been happening since 12.00 (which was actually an intentional change to mimic some other browsers)? If not, I'm a little confused, since your workaround continues to work here.

Can't reproduce this on Win8 with HNM on 1 or 3, though I DO know what you're talking about, since I've seen it happen before. Just not in this particular instance.

F.V.F-V Thursday, September 13, 2012 5:49:44 PM

When opening the browser, focus is not in the address field. I have to press F8 first before I can enter a URL.
After that, focus isn't on the page so I can't scroll or do anything.

Testing with speeddial off. No extensions installed.
