Looks like recently reported bug-306895 is fixed. Will keep testing, but it's great!

Edit: unfortunately it's not sad, another crash...
opera[20550] general protection rip:629a70 rsp:7fff0e52ba00 error:0
probably will use crashlogger next time.

Widgets made or using code of the widgetizer, can crash this build
reported it as bug #306825

Ar1Pear1pe Friday, January 11, 2008 4:35:10 PM

I have this problem again;
when I installed this build I couldn't send or receive mail. Before (3 builds) I could correct this with opening the mail account, edit, changed nothing but after that everything worked.
Now I had to play a little more with those settings. Don't know what finally did the trick, but I went on changing authentication etc., tried, failed , and suddenly it worked again (settings are now exactly the same as before).

It looks like you're going to have to retire your Fast History Navigation macro. Oh, the humanity!

I think even the #anchor part of the problem is fixed, which probably means it was related to the main favicon issue.

MyOpera team, please fix this!fearphage Friday, January 11, 2008 4:37:14 PM

event.preventDefault() now cancels text selection

Nice. Isn't there a css property for this too?

EDIT: Found it. It doesn't seem to be supported by opera yet but user-select is a property in css3 to prevent text selection. It's weird that css is crossing paths with javascript.

lamarca lamarca Friday, January 11, 2008 4:41:46 PM

fast history navigation is working again :-)

MossMan Friday, January 11, 2008 4:43:40 PM

After a bit of churning (re-indexing, I suppose) mail is now FAST again!

Yayyayayyyyy!!!! bigsmile

Adam Dziuraadas Friday, January 11, 2008 4:45:40 PM

When i have disable "fast search in adress bar" (opera:config#Max Visited Pages Index Size = 0) I have a bad adress in Opera history.

Try open: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strona_główna , close and try write this in adress field http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/St

Opera autocomplete to: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strona_gÅówna (bad encoding)

Hermenhermen2048 Friday, January 11, 2008 4:48:06 PM

For some reasons, the Speed dial shortcuts in my custom keyboard setup (Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9) stopped working. Can anybody confirm this?

abid78 Friday, January 11, 2008 4:48:38 PM

Thanks!!
Link under "Latest snapshots' Windows 9735" leads to "o950s_9721m.exe". The one under download is the right link for the new snapshot.
Update: yep, its fixed now.

nuclearrabbit Friday, January 11, 2008 4:51:14 PM

hermen2048, I can confirm. Ctrl-1 is opening the search panel instead of taking me to my #1 Speed Dial page.

MisterE Friday, January 11, 2008 4:53:35 PM

event.preventDefault() now cancels text selection

Yes! Thank you. I suppose drag & drop will stop selectiong text from now on. Very nice.

Not totally. I still see it contacting the web in the status bar and it is processing something. So it is still not imediate like in 9.2x; it still looks before it leaps even though it is only 1-1.5 s.

surfer dude Friday, January 11, 2008 4:59:27 PM

I'm looking forward to the Solaris Sparc version of 9.5.

Partially:
Ctrl+1: Search panel
Ctrl+2: Bookmarks panel
Ctrl+3,4,5: Closes side panel when pressed 1st, Closes panel selector when pressed the 2nd time, Goes to Speed Dial 3,4,5 when pressed the 3rd time
Ctrl+6: Notes panel
Ctrl+7: Transfers
Ctrl+8: History
Ctrl+9: Links

To Opera devs: is this a known issue or a bug report should be filed?

did you set fast navigation mode to 3?
its working for me.

stenosissteno Friday, January 11, 2008 5:13:07 PM

thanks smile but will the mac version ever get the smooth scroll function?

snapper Friday, January 11, 2008 5:30:16 PM

@hermen2048

The same problem - instead of Speed Dial I get the side panels (FreeBSD, KDE)

It is. I am on Vista. You? Did you upgrade or clean install? I upgraded.

EricJH Friday, January 11, 2008 5:51:26 PM

@MisterE. Behaviour confirmed with Vista.

przecinek Friday, January 11, 2008 6:01:27 PM

My Speed Dial shortcuts works since I deleted Platform-Windows-Unix-MCE, 1 ctrl shift, ..., Platform-Windows-Unix-MCE, 9 ctrl shift from keyboard shortcuts->application.

Rijk Friday, January 11, 2008 6:11:01 PM

@All: the Ctrl(+Shift)+number shortcuts issue is probably related to the work to get * (and other non-alphanumeric characters) to work as a shortcut from the normal keyboard. We're onto it smile

albertomolteni Friday, January 11, 2008 6:17:01 PM

Bug #306062 (crash on user interaction after private data delete) still there. Should I email a new crashlog?

toadbee Friday, January 11, 2008 6:34:59 PM

Confirm sending mail problem - on SMTP using TLS.
I had to change Auth type from
"Auth Plain" to "(auto) Auth Plain" on all accounts in order to send mail on any of them.

I was so happy i could sort by send date again that I didn't see my outbox filling up wink

Zorglub Friday, January 11, 2008 6:42:53 PM

zombie Friday, January 11, 2008 6:44:35 PM

@toadbee:
Interesting... I had to do the opposite. Changing Auth type from "(auto)Auth Plain" to "Auth plain" fixed the SMTP/TLS problem for me.

JasmoJazmo Friday, January 11, 2008 6:49:20 PM

Still can't log in to my opera from File | Synchronize Opera
I write the password right (same as here on site) but it does not log me in.

I've special charachters in the password. Can anyone confirm?

I'm on Vista and upgraded, and when FHN is set on 3 it works exactly like pre-9.5 for me. No status popup at all, so it's not attempting to get anything. Is it happening on all sites for you or just some? The only thing I can think here is that it looks like it's on 3 for you but isn't. Maybe check opera6.ini to be sure.

toadbee Friday, January 11, 2008 7:02:08 PM

@zombie,
For some reason I am thinking one of the two (auto)auth or Auth never existed for smtp... I may have lost my mind, but they say you can only do that once no

SiMcarD Friday, January 11, 2008 7:04:00 PM

Some favicons doesn't work.
Including the one in this page.

Tim AltmanJunyor Friday, January 11, 2008 7:12:45 PM

@albertomolteni: No, a new crash log isn't necessary. The bug report is still open.

Simon Houstonshoust Friday, January 11, 2008 7:54:24 PM

History search isn't working at all in this build.

[BUG 292802] Fixed the old and grumpy Java crasher - maybe not

assuming that's what supposed to be causing all my crashes then I gotta tell you that Opera still crashes. It crashes on sites I regularly visit (latest was WashingtonPost.com) and after crashing the site loads just fine. But so far it is crashing less

stereo_coctail Friday, January 11, 2008 8:05:11 PM

Nice work speed, but i'm very dissapointed in the old (since first beta build) opera's bug.
when I save an image using "save as..." right-click menu, the image is saved but without its extension. So I need to correct its name (add the missed extension) later in windows explorer.
The same thing occures with almost all other types (including .exe and others) of files when I download them using Opera's downloadind interface.
Hope this bug will be corrected soon)
Sincerely your, Alexey. Moscow, Russia

WildEnte Friday, January 11, 2008 8:08:38 PM

"When unchecking "Keep local copy of message body", Opera will now remove existing message bodies."

That's alright, but calls for more flexibility of the IMAP client: Suppose I want to go on a 8 hour flight and have my email with me and usually have that setting off but need my work email. So I need a setting "download bodies of all emails that are no older than..." or "download all bodies of emails between dates a and b".

'cause otherwise, if I accidentily uncheck that setting, I'm screwed.

stereo_coctail Friday, January 11, 2008 8:11:39 PM

Also it would be great if you make it possible to edit bookmarks from bookmarks menu. Now the only way to correct a bookmark name is to open a sidebar.

J.R. Raithjrronimo Friday, January 11, 2008 8:17:13 PM

After installing this build I can sort my feeds by date again, hooray!

The problem is that now all of the text in the feeds I had saved is gone. sad

However, I just subscribed to a new feed and they all came back! Still not the right way for it to work, but they're back. bigsmile

Still doesn't open Gmail2 under Mac. I log in and it loads as the older version of Gmail. When will this be fixed. I know there are work arounds to get this to work but i've tried and failed. As there are work arounds surley its easy enough for Opera to fix?
