Opera Desktop Team

Continued stabilization

, ,

With a third snapshot this week, you might have figured that we're very busy stabilizing and improving 10.5. Also this snapshot includes a major update of Presto with over a hundred of bug fixes and improvements. And to make it even better we expect to release more new milestones next week that will fix most of the regressions in 10.5.
Who knows, there might be a new feature next week too :-)

In addition to the bugfixes, this build also includes support for the TLS Renegotiation Information Extension. This recent update in the TLS/SSL specification addresses a severe security vulnerability in the protocols. More details are provided on Opera's security blog.
The Presto update also includes improved support for web fonts, including fixes for support of font-weight and font-style. The scope protocol has been updated which makes improvements in Dragonfly possible.

Apart from stability updates in Opera's rendering engine, a number of frequently reported bugs in the user interface have been fixed. In particular the autocompletion dropdown of the addressfield has gotten some attention. The visual styling of it has been improved and enhanced, and several quirks in it have been fixed.

Known Issues[/SIZE]
  • Copy link still crashes Opera (yes it will be fixed)
  • Dragonfly is not working due to new protocol (expect it up and running next week)

Yeah. The link works if we replace 22 with 23.
Edit: Seems fixed.

We would know when we are at a different stage in the development cycle. There will be an announcement. Even if the opera:about says alpha it isn't unless they say so. That has been the case in the past (except it said beta).

Update: Olli beat me to it. lol

BS-Harou Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:24:01 PM

The "Start bar" has still the old border around :/

We already have Vega, maybe HW accleration. (Ran by Vega) That'd be great.

Kamaleshkamalesh Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:27:55 PM

Cool...thanks for feeding the Opera snapshot addiction. wink

Looks like v10.5 will be impressive -- new feature, did you say?? Zoom & Turbo in Site PREFS?? If we're getting a tsunami of builds this week, would love to see the auto-updater working again. up

The YeOKYeOK Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:29:20 PM

It all sounds great, I can't wait to test all these fixes in a future Linux build.

no, that would be awesome! =)

Daniel HendrycksDanielHendrycks Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:29:46 PM

It is difficult to see the tooltip in the status bar. It is because of my background. Before it was good. Anyone else want this change?

MyOpera team, please fix this!fearphage Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:35:24 PM

Geolocation was in some labs builds a while back so I assume it will be in 10.5. Are there still opportunities for other html5 things also (web workers, offline application manifests, web sockets, etc.)? I know... never satisfied, right? smile

Anton DiazAntonDiaz Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:36:15 PM

sleepyheadbooz0r Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:37:38 PM

I don't.

it cannot search my bookmarks like before.

for example, I have some (dozens) bookmarks named "torrents - xxxxx". when i type "torr" it only searches the history. I have to type the whole word "torrents" and then it shows me only the first 5 bookmark entries. so I must then click the "show more..." button to find the rest of the bookmarks.

in my opinion this is the waste of time and it is much harder to find things then before (10.10 and earlier versions).

walterbugscout Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:43:43 PM

MariuszMariuszWWA Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:45:57 PM

"Unix — in the very near future" nice joke... :[

ppc-linux version please! this is not a joke!

Arguggi Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:47:09 PM

3 builds in a week cheers

But the most annoying bug DSK-276345 (not showing URL address of links in the bottom left corner) is still there.

Other bugs i submitted are less important so it doesn't matter.

Keep up the good work

Teuntweeny Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:50:23 PM

Here one bug in the address bar:
when I type for example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie Mercury
(whithout a underscore), Opera will go to google, But I want to go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Mercury

I think this can be realized if you give "go to" a higher priority then "Search the web for ...".
In the previous version it works perfect

Ferrisferrisnox Saturday, January 23, 2010 3:54:16 PM

Does seem more stable.

Constructive feedback:
Must have autoscroll back... please
Screen.Width is still off... this is muy importanto to fix!
The url buttons are worse now... go back to the old way imo
Link Status icon is not turning green even though it is working
Don't like the new panel button, since there are now three ways to toggle it.
Noticed in google/analytics the charts are very jittery on mouseover.

What I do like:
You can move modal dialouges now!!!
The height of the tab.. and space above it with the menu bar hidden is very tight. This is good, but also there is not a lot of room to "grab" with the mouse to move the window etc... with many tabs...

Aux Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:03:20 PM

Are SVG fixes scheduled for 10.50?

wywh Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:03:30 PM

Great job!!

Just one question...in near future are you going to put Slovenian language version of Opera?

Cause you have a lot of Opera users in Slovenia.

thank you for answer.. and continue the good jub

julben Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:11:03 PM

A new feature? Can't wait for it! bigsmile

Still, right-click -> Open With and the right-click menu of marked text don't work.

ALLIGATORALLIGATORopera Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:11:13 PM

You are the BEST!

operic Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:12:42 PM

1. what about MDI ?
now there are windows (tabs) that cannot be resized sad

2. speeddial thumbnails are more blured then in 10.10- versions

kimyu92 Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:15:38 PM

Bugs:
1.Copy box (right click) still not work (can only use Ctrl+C)

Suggestions:
1. the tab bar & bottom bar should be as thin as v10.10
2. Friends for sale (Facebook) game still not work ><

Opera,gambateh ^^!!!

BS-Harou Saturday, January 23, 2010 4:16:54 PM

Arrows on sides of scrollbars are still pointing up, when mouse is on scrollbar (not on "arrow buttons").
