Feedback wanted on themes and tab/titlebar integration in Opera 12 on Linux/FreeBSD

, , , ...

As you probably know by now Opera 12 is coming soon and with it Linux and FreeBSD will gain support for tab/titlebar integration as part of our work on Themes (a subject I have discussed on my personal blog several times before). Now that 12 is just around the corner, feedback on this new feature has started to ramp up. This is of course a good thing, yet at the same time following the feedback can be a little hard because the issues that you guys might see are highly dependent on your specific setup.

To separate the bugs from the intended behaviour and the things we can fix from the things we can't fix, we need more precise feedback, so this is your opportunity to provide it!

Opera 11.63 Released for the Mac App Store

, , ,

A small number of users who downloaded Opera through Apple's Mac App Store, and who have recently upgraded their version of Opera have risked losing their customizations, such as bookmarks, Speed Dials, etc. People who run versions of OS X older than 10.7 or have installed Opera through opera.com have not been impacted by this problem. While this only affects a small subset of our userbase, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

But now we have fixed the issue. We released Opera 11.63 exclusively for the Mac App Store. People who upgrade to this version will see their customizations restored, just like before they upgraded to Opera 11.62.

The upgrade problem to Opera 11.62 was caused by our build system being configured for the upcoming version Opera 12. For several technical reasons, this caused Opera to create a new profile for the upgrading user. This had the effect of hiding all configurations and customizations. We've now resolved this, and users who upgrade to Opera 11.63 will see everything back the way it was. We have also made arrangements to avoid similar problems in the future.

This special release means there will not be a release of Opera 11.63 for any of the other builds or platforms.

We also recommend using Opera Link, our synchronization service. This helps ensure your configurations will remain intact even in the event of a software or hardware error.

Opera 10.01

, , ,

We published today Opera 10.01, a recommended stability and security update. Thanks to the new automated crashlogging in Opera 10, we collected a lot of the issues that users were seeing, and had a good tool not only to identify some crashers difficult to reproduce in controlled environments, but also to prioritise issues that were affecting a lot of users. A great Thank You to everybody submitting their logs! smile

Here's yet another snapshot, with more Opera Unite fixes.

Upgrading to a 10.10 build should work smoothly now. We have also fixed a lot of the connection issues that people were seeing, so most of these problems should be gone now.

Apart from that, the installation of widgets is working again.

Happy testing! sherlock

  • Some Unix builds may be missing, but most of them will be continuously uploaded
  • Panel bar is showing by default in a clean installation
  • Unite crashes if both UPnP and UPnP Service Discovery are disabled
