New 10.70 snapshot: Synchronizing build numbers (almost)

It's been a few days since the previous 10.70 snapshot, so we decided it was time to do another one.

If you look at the build numbers, you will notice that Mac and Unix use the same number. We are currently working on synchronizing build numbers across desktop platforms, and this is the first step. Windows will hopefully follow in the near future.

Note: There are no Linux PowerPC builds this time.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Will Opera 10.70 bring some new functionality not available in 10.61? Hardware acceleration of rendering would be nice :-)

It allready does.
By the way, Hardware accel isn't really important to have right now.
Now first bug fix and get the max out of software accel .

More interesting and informative I think will be to see what Haavard thinks Opera needs/is missing. That's the angle that interests me. It's always interesting to see how other people use the browser.

Still no joy for useability in Mac OS X 10.4.11 running on PPC hardware (DSK-308554):

Example: Typing (ahead) "This is a test" into a note resulted in a 30-second wait until the text completely appeared, accompanied by CPU utilitization at 100% until done.

Ghost feed bug

1. delete a feed from Feeds tree in Mail panel
2. right click on Feeds tree and go to Properties (Subscribe to Feeds window pops-up)
3. search the feed you recently deleted; it's still there unchecked and not editable. Add button also is not working after hitting Edit button.

Not important, it isn't even sure that this 10.70 will become 10.70.
So why change it when you maybe have to change it again

Seems that Cookie vs Local Setting -> Cookies have some weird behaviour. Globally disabled Cookies, on Local Settings -> Cookies is default checked Ask before accepting and i must choose Accept all cookies to get cookies working

Maybe you're right, but this is my point of view: IE9 is gonna bring something like HA, I heard somenthing about Firefox and Chrome too. It is clear Opera is gonna have this feature too, but why not to be the first?

Anyway I agree with you about the need to fix bugs. That still should remain top priority.

Opera is definitely working on it but has the extra challenge to make it work over several platforms: http://my.opera.com/core/blog/2009/02/04/vega .

Just got this when double clicking the x86_64 deb installer in Ubuntu 10.10..

dpkg: unable to read filedescriptor flags for <package status and progress file descriptor>: Bad file descriptor

It seems like this was an issue a year or two ago also, but I can't remember if it was Opera or Linux's fault. Anyone else see this?

Found it...Here is the problem from before:

Does anybody know how to solve that when I change tabs by scrolling mouse or Ctrl+Tab, it scrolls opposite way or randomly (depends what I clicked last) ??

It is really annoying sad

It didn't behave like that before ...

Till Kolditzlolmegafroi Wednesday, August 18, 2010 3:26:58 PM

thx for the new build smile
since a few snapshots, when cycling through the tabs with ctrl+tab, the order was reverted confused
(with ctrl + tab the next tab was the right tab, now it's the left one...)
quite confusing...

better stability but i had anyway a couple of crashes browsing on facebook.
I have sent reports.

I'll test it lately on xp sp3 where the 10.61 is really a pain.

I think that this "10.70" version will be transformed into 10.62 because for 10.70 these builds haven't really important changes, improvements or new features idea

z-o-o-m Wednesday, August 18, 2010 3:32:06 PM

html5 audio is fine ... Win7 64bit
