Opera 9.21 build
By olli. Friday, May 11, 2007 12:53:39 PM
I know you all are awaiting 9.50 to play with, but in the meanwhile we will have a update on Merlin.
We have kept the fix rate at a minimal here so the few fixes we have here are the high pri ones

Changelog
- Setting weight for UI fonts now works again
- Larger search field in speed dial, looked a bit chunky on smaller resolutions
- Added Yahoo Answers to built in search
- A number of crashes fixed and memory leaks plugged
- Proxy PAC files now read from system on Windows and Mac
- Windows media player 11 NP version now works without crashing. Get it here
Mac specific
- Added support for Smart Crash Reports. (Note: For Opera to use Smart Crash Reports, it has to be installed on the system by the user; Opera will not install Smart Crash Reports automatically. Of course.)
Download:
Windows MSI
Windows Classic
Macintosh
Unix

But.. sorry for this (probably really) dumb question, but I'm new to Opera: When I install this build over the 9.20 Final, does I keep all my settings, and boomarks, and cookies and so on?
Or is a clean install the better way to go to test this weekly?
Thanks in advance.

I know this can be done easily with the classic installer by simply specifying a different directory name when installing--the profile will also be separate.
I assume the MSI installer works the same way, but I haven't used it much in this context.

I end up doing an "End task" on it rather than waiting. When I start Opera the next time, it never indicates that it's crashed, so it is closing off its files properly just not leaving memory when it finishes.

Anyways, thanks for the new build. You've fed my addiction for the moment.

I wasn't expecting any more build for a long term. So this a good surprise.
Please don't forget to fix new built-in chat into Yahoo Mail Beta, is not working at all; and some things are out of place. The "change status" appears under "My Yahoo!" link so you can't use it.
A lot of work.

I have Windows media player 11 installed and I can play all videos in Opera without that plug-in.
Is it only used for Firefox but for some reason if you installed it, did it make Opera crash?

Agree.
I see no point in having Start bar drop down when SD (new page) is requested...
If Start bar is customized to multiple lines, it covers the SD searchfield, and thumbnails, thus no way of closing Start bar (click in SD search field closes it), and no way of selecting SD thumbnail... ???
(using mouse only)
Sollution :
* close button in drop down Start bar
* or better, trigger Start bar from click in address field only
* or even better, trigger Start bar from a separate button, too
(I have address field on tab bar, thus Start bar is useful for hiding 4-5 buttons, making room for tabs. One toolbar environment, to maximize real estate for web content)
BTW. what about making address field size optional... add Medium and Large

Thank's for the info.
I'll try that plug-in and see if something changes.

On sparc solaris opera still freezes at the webpage:
http://www.tdbanknorth.com/net/selectstate.aspx?ref=/exc/html/login_redirect.html
When selecting a "state" for example New Hampshire.
