Preparing for takeoff
By Ruarí Ødegaardruario. Sunday, January 17, 2010 6:45:00 PM
So what do we have for you so far? Well we have upgraded our core rending engine slightly, done a little work on video support, improved certain aspects of performance, improved Windows 7 integration, fixed some mail issues and added support for IMAP COMPRESS, added 'inspect element' to the right click menu and finally of course, fixed a number of common crashes!
Given that we still have much work to do, what we are really looking for from you is new issues and bugs that you notice. If you have reported a bug already and it isn't fixed, don't worry, we'll get to it but do keep in mind that this is work in progress. Also remember that whilst it is handy to discuss bugs with others in the comments below, reporting a bug consists of actually submitting a bug report through our bug report wizard.
Once again the builds provided reflect those that are stable enough to release at the time of going to press. A small number of fixes were removed whilst we investigated better, cleaner solutions. However with certain key fixes removed, we have a temporary reduction in platforms. With a bit of hard work (and luck) we will have more platforms and an even better Evenes for all our fans next time around!

From this point on we are shifting up a gear to get you a stable 10.5 as soon as we possibly can!
Download
This build still represents early work in progress; as before many things are known not to work. It can still crash, cause you to swear and speak badly of you behind your back. You have been warned!
- Windows MSI/ Windows Classic
- Unix/Mac builds will be provided later this week
Known issues (will be fixed in the next snapshot)
- 99% score on Acid3
- Regression in DOM performance

Upgraded to the current Alpha build from 3186 to 3199.
However, I got this new build to start by just copying the "OUniAnsi.DLL" file in question from my Opera 10.01 Directory and this build crashed on my Windows ME as the previous one with automatic restarts to the Home Page.
Everything works fine as long as I stay on the home page and play with the TABS and Menus. If I try to link to any site, the build crashes and it's automatic restart kicks in with several tries it stabilizes to the Home Page chosen.
Otherwise, it appears unusable for web surfing at this point.
Any commments on this "OUniAnsi.DLL" file for stability on Windows Me platform??
Also AgentCROCODILE responded to my question as well as several observations from others on various issues as well the "OUniAnsi.DLL" in question.

Can the Opera Team "just only" explain what this means??

AgentCROCODILE # 1's Response:
It means that you have either a version of OUniAnsi.DLL that is either too old for Opera to run or you probably do not have that DLL in the first place.

(still has some simple javascripting bugs though that need fixing)
This rev might end up as my main browser...
The bugs related to the taskbar thumbnail view is still bugged, please fix.
(16:9 aspect, on right side of screen)
The installer was awesome, no probs at all this time.
I very much like that one.
The win7 intergration is still lacking from the xp os'es.
It still looks like old opera v10.10 here.
While the 1st rev of 10.5 was awesome, this one is dull.
I'm really wanting the gui updates lol...
The extra space in the browser panel's, on the left top corner, is gone.
Which is good, back to normal.
The gui it's self, while not looking liek a true v10.50, still looks much better then the previous rev.
It looks exactly like v10.10.
Thanks for the release, looking forward to the next one.
No spywarre crap either, all good, this is my main for now.
And..., I updated v10.10 and it worked fine like it allways does.
(I backup my entier opera folder before I install a new rev)

The one fixed: In the previous snapshots, when I clicked on a Speed Dial thumbnail, there was a pause of about a second before the site started loading. That pause is now gone.
The one not fixed: Still, when I right click on a wallpaper on a website and click "use image on desktop," it does not change to my desktop image.
I'll spend the day today seeing if I have as many crashes as I'd been having.

Did I set something wrong, or is it really set at all sites in "Site preferences>Cookies" the option "Never accept cookies" by default? (It's actually not set by default, but its checked by default so when I open the Site preferences>cookies and click on ok (without any change created by me) cookies get disabled).

Can anyone confirm if this happens for you. If I go to any page with a hyperlink on it and right click and "copy," Opera crashes as soon as I click "copy."
I'm on the latest snapshot, on Windows 7 RC using an HP Pavilion 1032 us laptop, 2 dual core processor, 4 gigs RAM

Just tried and no probs here, I dn what to say.
I guess try a fresh install or a diff upgrade path.
I've only seen one prob that v10.10 didn't have so far myself...
It was a prob with special char's of some sorts (rescricted logo), prob went away though on it's own and never came back.
Guessing maybe the page in ? had been changed while I was viewing it.
As for the F12 prob... ???
When I push F12, it brings up a right click menu, works no matter where my cursor is located.
I don't see a prob unless it's not supposed to be a right click menu.

But I could import my bookmarks with Manage bookmarks - File - Import Opera bookmarks and browsed my old profile folder where bookmarks.adr was. It imported successfully my 4500 bookmarks.
