RC 3

, ,

At the Opera HQ we are feverishly working to fix all bad issues! The new RC build fixes a few more issues with not restarting Unite properly. Also, it addresses some more Unite problems and includes performance improvements. For Linux users, there are some fixes for the systray! As usual, we appreciate any reports about regressions! Happy testing!

Thank you!
Hm, any chance for a more detailed changelog of this and the previous build(s)?

I notice a strange mixture of languages in Unite Home:
"Song.mp3 wurde im Media Player abgespielt, in the last month.".
So, the first part is german, the last is english.
Also, why is Unite german in the first place as my Opera installation is english? OS is a german XP though, but doesn't Unite language depend on Opera's language?

dirkthetomster Tuesday, November 17, 2009 12:09:07 PM

cool up

DrillSarge Tuesday, November 17, 2009 12:10:20 PM

ColKilkenny Tuesday, November 17, 2009 12:13:44 PM

Thanks, systray is indeed fixed up

Now, let's release 10.10 and move to 10.5 so we immortals can get a little Carakan & Vega love before Christmas. Right? Yeeess.

There wont be any detailed changelog as the only changes that are done are already mentioned. We are not fixing many bugs this late in the process..

Looks ok on XP, seems to be a 'linux only' issue.

Bill PBill_P Tuesday, November 17, 2009 3:11:23 PM

opera uses cpu doing nothing - is this a residual affect of having Unite in the code but not enabling it? Talking just a few % of the cpu but but seen in earlier releases.

Also even worse problem with java script at times it will eat 15-25% of core (not that old a c2d) even though all pages fully loaded

64bit qt4

NO. Why on earth are you making these assumptions about "oooh, this and this must be causing this and that" instead of just reporting what you see and leaving the useless speculation out of it?

Sierd027 Tuesday, November 17, 2009 4:10:26 PM

RC 3 ? You guys must be kidding.

NSL still present.
Memory use = extraordinary high, Opera is only building up memory en never release any when I close tabs.
When I remove email permanently Opera's M2 keeps running all the time.
Favicons still missing in Bookmarks.
When I change search engine (google (eng) to (dutch) icons are vanishing.
This behavior is going on a long time why no fix and why so much rush.
Also the wand is not working properly. (for a long time now)
Please Opera team fix this before even thinking about final release.

bigsmile the final is near! And after it? New labs or snapshots?? sherlock

Sasquatch Tuesday, November 17, 2009 4:20:17 PM

There are plenty of bugs that should be fixed before even thinking about final. One of them is DSK-261395, which I've mentioned before and is finally in the spotlight, but should have been fixed in 10.00 final. I'm really wondering if others have the same issue on Linux with Qt4. Still trying to get it to happen now and see what else is needed to get it fixed.
Forum: http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=283139&t=1258445672
If there is any user experiencing the same problem (not the Qt 4.5.3 issue of high CPU), please join in to get it fixed.

problems with opera link! doesnt synchro , there are only default 2 sites in speeddial always when opera is restarting.. [qt4 32bit opensuse 11.2]

Again bigeyes

JoakimJoak1m Tuesday, November 17, 2009 4:59:30 PM

Memory usage is still too high, opera doesn't shut down correctly either.

Robert MeijersRobert90 Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:36:43 PM

Since some builds back (don't know exactly, but probably one or two builds before the first RC) (almost) every time I close Opera it crashes. On my PC running openSUSE 11.1 (32 bit), and on my laptop running a clean install of openSUSE 11.2 (64 bit), both are running the Qt 4 builds (resp. 32 bit and 64 bit)

I'll keep sending the crash logs, but it's just getting to annoying even when I close Opera only a few times a day (open it when I boot the PC, and close it before shutting down) First I thought they where unique for my PC, but now the same thing happens to a clean installation on my laptop, so it couldn't be a problem which is unique to my setup.

leighmanLeighman Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:39:15 PM

This build completely deleted my Unite set-up :/

IKoke Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:41:45 PM

Hurray, waiting Carakan up coffee

leighmanLeighman Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:52:31 PM

Having restored my profile from a back-up Unite seems to be working fine and the systray icon looks good!

zombie Tuesday, November 17, 2009 5:54:04 PM

Lost my unite setup and all widgets. This has not happened before.
Using qt4 build.

IKoke Tuesday, November 17, 2009 6:13:34 PM

Disk cache not emptied?

This build (v. 10.10, build 4728) is working well for me.

However, I notice that after I go to Preferences/Advanced/History, and then click the "Empty Now" button, there are still mega-bytes of stuff under my .opera/cache and .opera/cache4 directories. Is that expected? If so, is there some other way to clear cache? I'm on Linux, by the way, and am using opera-10.10-4728.gcc4-shared-qt3.x86_64.

"Cache4" is no longer used, at least not on Windows (presumably the rest) so you should just delete that folder anyways.

As for "Cache" some things are kept if they are still in use (sites still open, the HTM, JPG, PNG, GIF, CSS, etc for each site), which may include data used by mail, feeds, panels, web panels, etc.

arghwashier Tuesday, November 17, 2009 8:05:51 PM

I don't know this is an opera bug or a bug on this website because I am getting feeds very late, even when reloading I still haven't received one for this release...

Vectronic Tuesday, November 17, 2009 8:11:00 PM

Check the Update Interval... it may have been reset to 3 Hours (the default), or more rarely they can become set to an interval you set for another feed.

Had that happen about...many builds ago, setting the interval for one feed, would sometimes apply the same interval to the feed before it, or the feed after it as well as the one selected.

I do not know about what you. Firefox, chrome, safari4 uses more ram.
Can you don't know about opera's options "memory cache size".

Maybe You should reinstall Opera? (And remember before installing - remove all the remains, It should be a clean install)
