We have to postpone this weekly until after the weekend. We've made quite a bit of progress, but have a few loose ends to finish before we can present it to you all.

Hope you will not be too bored this weekend wink

True story (Not sure it goes here. But there is no forum for Opera rants smile )

I *never* thought I would be this addicted. This obsession started with Opera 6. The speed, the customization ... what a change from IE it was ! Opera 7 was next and before long I was riding the Opera 8 wave. With all the talk about widgets, content blocking, acid tests and so on and so forth, the weeklies gave me enough dope to calmly surf the entire week. Belive it or not, I *know* weeklies are out only on weekends. But I check this darned blog every freaking day in the hope that the impossible happens. And I drop here today to find what I did yesterday sad(

You Opera overlords, please DO NOT do this to me sad(. I need to join a rehab. Soon. I am breaking down ...

Sleep now!...

PatentEater Friday, March 17, 2006 5:40:34 PM

The only way I'll forgive you this, is if you implement a full page capture function and the ability to define XPath expressions for filtering content on specific pages.

Now that would be a blessing, wouldn't it? smile

knolle Friday, March 17, 2006 5:42:16 PM

But on monday morning - zackzack!

Who can tell me how to spend this weekend without Weekly Build?

jimmiwalker Friday, March 17, 2006 5:49:14 PM

Hey! PatentEater got something. XPath filter would be really nice! (And even nicer would be if it'd have a frontend like current image content blocker)

Eric Bladeeblade Friday, March 17, 2006 5:51:14 PM

antoxicion Friday, March 17, 2006 6:34:57 PM

Did you read 9tp2 changelog? Its been in there and by the way , having all the shortcuts would just ruin the internal setting to open addresses in background pages and new pages.

jackpea Friday, March 17, 2006 8:24:28 PM

Oooh man.

Eric Johnsonkeefus_a Friday, March 17, 2006 8:27:33 PM

...leads me to believe that the next release will look more like "preview 3" than a weekly build...

Jakub81 Friday, March 17, 2006 8:30:19 PM

Guys, you ruined my weekend plans wink

antoxicion Friday, March 17, 2006 9:21:37 PM

"Did you read 9tp2 changelog? Its been in there and by the way , having all the shortcuts would just ruin the internal setting to open addresses in background pages and new pages."

well what are the shortcuts for .net or .org? cuz the only one that works is .com, and NOT every site is .com

mikeeatworld2 Friday, March 17, 2006 9:53:10 PM

i look forward to friday weeklies. i'll check back on monday.

Milton Arístides Jovel Meléndezmiltonari Friday, March 17, 2006 10:03:12 PM

I can wait, the last Technical Preview its good!!, Happy weekend Team!!!

GaaraZanta Friday, March 17, 2006 10:09:07 PM

I come back and turn boot up Opera then remeber its friday, and in my head I was like 'yeah! a new build' then i find that it has been delayed, oh well I can wait, after all this release it stable enough(though it seems to get 100% cpu alot more often than usual).

LudvigKanel Friday, March 17, 2006 11:07:19 PM

cry

wink

Rijk Friday, March 17, 2006 11:17:23 PM

@antoxicion:

Shoust is right, adding the shift and shift+crtl variants would replace popular functionality. But you can probably edit the keyboard shortcuts yourself now.

Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Shortcuts > doubleclick the currently selected keyboard setup

Then remove the 'enter shift' and 'enter shift ctrl' entries under the 'browser window' section, and add them to the last section under advanced, where 'Enter ctrl' is already defined. Look at the action for 'Enter ctrl' to see what the other actions should look like.

Torstein LarssonmichBergen Friday, March 17, 2006 11:43:42 PM

So, you're working weekends now..?
Looks like a new 'real' beta is coming up soon.
smile

Dort Friday, March 17, 2006 11:57:57 PM

No Opera at this friday, but through week i wait preview 3 smile Ok?

Sgt_HoboSergeantHobo Saturday, March 18, 2006 12:05:33 AM

Oh you teasers. p

Eh, I can suffer through the weekend. This just reeks of TP3 though...

gahbmwM5 Saturday, March 18, 2006 12:14:36 AM

Thanks for the update, as more days (to work out various issues)is a good thing...

As quoted by Borg:

" We've made quite a bit of progress, but have a few loose ends to finish before we can present it to you all."

Hopefully the most stable build thus far coming early next week...smile Have currently found that build 8238 is the most stable (yet) for my surfing needs.
