Opera continues to expand and we need more people on the Desktop team to make even better products in shorter time. If you already live in Scandinavia or if you'd like to try to work here, please check out our open positions. This is the right time to apply! If you know someone that should be working for a company like Opera, please point them to our job site.

In particular, we need C++ developers for Oslo, Norway and Linköping, Sweden. We don't care if you prefer Windows, Mac, Linux or FreeBSD, you will work under the environment of your choice. For instance, if you think you're the right person to make our Mac version integrate better with OS X: We may have a job for you. If you think we should go open source: This is as close as it gets, code Opera yourself and get paid for it

We also look for strong designers, both for graphics and interaction design for our consumer products (Desktop, Widgets, Mini...).

I would love to work at opera as a software engineer, but I'm moving from Portugal to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Are there any plans for a new office there?

It would have the benefit of being in a portuguese speaking country (sixth world major language) and it would also be the first one in latin america

I live at Sao Paulo Brazil too. Works at Opera is my dream, but I just know .Net Framework...I admire C++ , but i dont have knowledge.

working at opera was always a dream for me, but i just graduated last july, now i am in my military service untill next december, now i am afraid after this post Opera will recive so many job requests more than it really needs, so i will be too late at december

anyway, good luck for those lucky ones who will get the job,

you will not only enjoy coining the web, but something may be more or equally great, you will work with those great people at opera like Johan, Claudio, Charles, Olli, Junyor and all others we just like them from their posts here and there, working with them would certainly make a joyful envirenment.

Prague is great destination for me (I live in Czech Republic), but think I'm not skilled enough, I've just entered university studies x) The only project I'm participating in now is Miranda IM. Would be nice to offer some positions/easier ideas which would fit students

P.S.: but Interaction designer sounds fine

I'd love to apply, but I can't move (yet); I certainly can't move out of country. I'd certainly take a graphic design and interface design job at Opera if I didn't have to move too far away. At the moment the best I could offer is to work mostly from here and fly to Oslo or Mountain View or whatever for stints as I'm needed. I certainly hope you guys find someone to help with Mac OS X integration. That'd be a great job IMO.

Oh please hire someone to work on bug reports, just someone to go through them and investigate them on all platforms. I submitted a bug about panning while zoomed not working in web pages in linux a long time ago, it was when opera 9 started weeklies back when opera 8 was the official version, the bug happened right after you switched to the new build system, whatever that was. Oh and digg is broken, i have to use firefox for a bit

even after a bug gets confirmed, it might take a while to fix.
there may be other more important bugs, or maybe it is a complicated bug to fix.

when something doesn't work, I use Opera 9.27

When something doesn't work, I don't use 9.27 because is older; so complex things that fail on Kestrel won't work on Merlin.

I'm in the second year of my graduation, I go to the University of São Paulo (USP) Brazil, it is one of the best in the country and the most renowned internationaly. Since I'm in the second year I mostly got experience in C and data structures (lists, binary trees, graphs). Also, before entering college I did a one and a half year technical course where I learned a little of obeject orientation programming (unfortunately with Delphi and VB6) and database (SQL using Oracle). I'm willing to relocate to Europe for an internship, do you think that Opera has a place for me?

Sure peoples can be around globe for certain types of job, but do you think Opera software or any other company hires peoples just "over internet"? I'd invite persons first to local place, and if he/she is good for the task and rediable then he/she could get to home country and work from there... My 2 cents

I think the opera devs are spending most of their time on the paid version for mobiles rather than the free desktop version which is understandable i guess

@@olmari: And who is going to be paying for the flights and accommodation?

Just because you see someone for a few hours or days doesn't mean you can trust them with access to opera's source code ;)

no, I haven't said that, it just bothers me when people complain abaut the latest snapshot, and say they have to switch browser, when opera 9.27 works just fine.

but of course, if you want to use opera 8.54, why should you use something else?

opera 8.54 is the last version in which the bug is not present, after than the entire 9.0 to 9.27 to the snapshots all have this bug.

Ace2016: Not only do we have people working on handling incoming bug reports, we have an entire department more or less dedicated to it. :)
As well as a host of volunteers and other people helping out, so not to worry. Everyone's voice is heard, and all bugs that are reported are looked at and analyzed. Not all of them can be fixed right away of course, but trust me, we don't just ignore stuff.

As for resource allocation, the people who work in the desktop department (most Opera people you will see comment in here) work only on desktop. There are other departments that work on mobile, devices and other platforms.

I still have open bugs from four years ago; and I guarantee some of the more veteran members of my.opera have even older ones. It's all about priorities; you just have to accept that there are other more important fixes which need to be made.
