Petter Nilsenmitchman2 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 4:26:43 PM

@wurzelchensen: What is not working? BT is supported and implemented on Mac too.

@Zajec: A beta is not supposed to fix all bugs, what would be do between beta and release if all bugs were already fixed? p

Philip Seyfiseifip Tuesday, April 11, 2006 4:28:44 PM

http://www.engadget.com/ still crashes Opera :/

Petter Nilsenmitchman2 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 4:31:23 PM

@seifip: Works for me. Please install http://www.opera.com/support/search/supsearch.dml?index=432 and file a bug report with the generated crash log attached.

chivitli Tuesday, April 11, 2006 4:36:01 PM

Bug:
Start downloading a file, for example http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/o90w_8359.exe
Stop download, then click resume. Progress bar gets stuck, remaining time "?", and Opera isn't showin that transfer was countinued (although it is, click stop again and you'll see that size of file has changed)

Definitely looking forward to the stability improvements. The last Mac build has been the most unstable for me (beaten only by the one that refused to start up at all bigsmile).

Have you made any progress with the Mac Quicktime problems? I was wondering that they might be caused by Flip4Mac, which is now the Microsoft backed player for WMV.

Captures of the problems I've had on Youtube:
- Opera is rubber, Video is glue
- Opera night and day edition

Don't let the easter bunnies bite you!

Tobias Scherertomu Tuesday, April 11, 2006 4:55:43 PM

Skin / widget background:

I hope this will be corrected in future previews/betas: for the background around the widget handle actually the [Toolbar skin] is in use. But unfortunately the needs for a toolbar background and for the widget background are converse:

- a toolbar needs for example some px paddings at the top for the right distance to the buttons

- the widget handle needs no paddings at the top because it is a "hanging tab"

As it is now, it is not possible to combine the different needs. Also the design of a toolbar must not be the same as for the handle background (corners, borders and so on). I hope we skinwriters will `receive` a own section for the widget handle background.

Humm.. very good release for me..

Could you perhaps fix the visualization of the site below:

@mitchman2: Bug number 203960

Rafał MiłeckiZajec Tuesday, April 11, 2006 5:05:37 PM

I mean only crash bugs ;-) For example:

https://bugs.opera.com/show_bug.cgi?id=202534

@miszaqs: It's just a new way of rendering not-validating pages. Minimal test-case of mbank menu problem is available on my page: http://zajec.net/bug/o_missing_rows

Carlos Renato F. VendraminiRedPingüim Tuesday, April 11, 2006 5:23:49 PM

Hummm

There is a pet bug since a long time: 164863

Could you try to fix it, please. This bug prevents Opera users to play in the chatrooms of a big internet provider here in Brazil. Really annoying..

thanks

Non-Tropponon-troppo Tuesday, April 11, 2006 5:55:48 PM

tomu: did you post a bug on that - I agree with you and indeed the widget tab clearly shunts aways from the top when the toolbar background comes up in widget-space mode.

Ar1Pear1pe Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:05:03 PM

Again bigsmile

Tobias Scherertomu Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:05:24 PM

non-troppo:

No, no bug reported. I think the thing is clear enough for everybody who works with skins...

Ranjan Groverrgrover Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:18:33 PM

Just a suggestion for the unix-debian/ubuntu specific builds. It would be very convenient if you guys had an apt-archive so I could update over the command line.

velmu Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:22:15 PM

rgrover: great idea!

Pierredummy4242 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:37:03 PM

Mail reading still crashes (when RSS feedings in HTML). Yet, by using text view instead of HTML for RSS feeds, Opera seems to be more stable.

Btw, I'm just wondering why inspectr is not tied to opera for your beta/dev/pre/easter.
Adding a help menu report a crash + upload log file might also help you getting accurate reports... just a thought.

Tim AltmanJunyor Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:52:21 PM

@dummy4242: Mail and RSS are working fine here. What OS are you using? Have you customized your mime.css? Does it happen with specific messages or randomly? Does it happen when downloading messages or when first viewing messages?

Lysia Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:55:48 PM

Will there ever be GnuPG-integration for M2? I really like M2 but I just changed over to Kmail because I have GPG-support there.

TommyTommy2k4 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 6:59:36 PM

Still waiting on bugs:
202801 - Search box not highlighting on click
203838 - Crash on closing tab while megaupload.com popup is loading

MihLab Tuesday, April 11, 2006 7:20:56 PM

Bla-bla-bla....

Opera b8367 all else remain in list of the processes and continues to use operative memory after closing though in Opera8.54 such not...

I usw win2k3sp1...
Please fix...

Teal_One Tuesday, April 11, 2006 7:45:25 PM

@Opera (Junyor)

Reportet as 204116

File - Print options... - Page margins
If you here enter a value greater than 1,50 (e.g. 2) then Opera takes 1,5 and not your value.

Don't know it's a known or wanted limitation but I don't see
the sense in it. Thanks for any informations about my problem or a hint where I find the BugTracker.

System Information: Opera 9.00 Build 8367 on Windows XP SP1

Tim AltmanJunyor Tuesday, April 11, 2006 7:45:27 PM

@MihLab: Does it still happen with Java disabled? If so, what version of Java do you have installed? Have you filed a bug report?

Svoboda Tuesday, April 11, 2006 7:46:11 PM

The widgets tab doesn't show at all if installed over 8.53

Joey WaghWajo357 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 7:51:07 PM

when you try to chat in gmail, the menu (left side of gmail) column disappears until you pop-out the chat window. Can anyone confirm?
EDIT: This doesn't always happen. Anyway, I also can't pop the chat back in.
EDIT2: Gmail crashes whem trying to type a reply to an ebay invoice - unstable
EDIT3: When installing the last weekly over this one (for reasons above), opera.exe gets deleted and cannot be found. I have to run the install again to 'fix' the installation. It then works.

Svoboda Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:25:20 PM

Perhaps I am somewhat slower, but what are those particles flying all around the widgets workspace supposed to be good for? Or meant for?

Holy smokes, Opera Man! It's clearly time to get to bed when I read that you were wishing for Gunther-integration rolleyes

papuass Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:29:23 PM

This Opera bulid (probably also the one before) is doing some vile things. It sets itself as a default browser in a strange way (which I do not like) and when I ask Firefox to set it back, it responds that it is already default browser. I can fix it, using Set programma acces and defaults Control panle item.

Kenneth Crudupkennycrudup Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:34:59 PM

For the first time since the 9.X betas have come out, 236 just up and crashed on me in the middle of a session (just viewing some pictures on a website).

.6 version, Qt shared 3.3.6 .

thexfile Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:41:58 PM

I get this with 8367 after deleting News Feed messages.

Tooltip balloons aren't supposed to show the whole, e.g. 100-line note when hovering over it, are they?

Eddie1506 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:47:16 PM

And still no SOCKS support...

Tim AltmanJunyor Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:50:55 PM

@Eddie1506: Opera 9 will not have SOCKS support.

@Svoboda: Yes, they are.

Master YodaM_Yoda Tuesday, April 11, 2006 8:55:11 PM

@Junyor: can you please check www.oglobo.globo.com and confirm if it gets blank after next or a few refreshes (that the site does automatically).
Thx

Eddie1506 Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:21:12 PM

@Junyor Any reason why? I shouldn't be hard to implement it. Besides, it's a wanted feature by many Opera users.

Vygi Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:22:09 PM

So will be widget PIN icon/symbol removed or made optional?
If not - I don't need such widgets at all as Widget Pin even covers important controls on some widgets (like on digital clock).

Simple Clock widget doesn't work BTW at all...

Idan AdarYtseJam Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:28:17 PM

The installer should be smart enough to detect the OS and choose wether to extract into the Opera folder the ouniansi.dll file or not to extract it.

For XP users, it'd be nice if this file will not be extracted to the folder since it is not needed.

Publisher Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:53:36 PM

know i can´t click the button "change" in the "file type" window when i checked "save to disk" and "do not ask for folder..."

uzzerek Tuesday, April 11, 2006 9:57:50 PM

I confirm problem with mBank menu! I know that is probably little problem (unclose tag or something) but Opera from 7 to almost last works good. I wait to resolve this problem!

Plug-ins - Win32:

By default, Opera now hunts for Quicktime, adobe reader, adobe svg viewer, wmp and plug-ins in its own plugins directory.

I don't see Opera autodetecting the real player plug-in if it's not in Opera's plugins directory. This I assume is because you're using the registry to find the directories and the real networks keys don't have any entries that specify the real player path.

If so, we can do a few different things.

1.) Get them to fix the installer so it adds a path entry to the install directory so Opera can check it.

2.) Or, use the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RealNetworks\RealPlayer version key to find out what version key to search for.

For example, the default string in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RealNetworks\RealPlayer\6.0\Preferences\CurrentSkin key could be used as hint... maybe.

3.) Just search for C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\Netscape6

The plugins are not guaranteed to be there, but I'm sure it'd be dead on for many.

#1 sounds the best if you are indeed using the registry to find the directories.

On a side note, maybe the Plugin Path= should always show all the directories Opera is searching.
